SDCC: 7 Minutes of Machete from Comic-Con

Somebody recorded the 7 minutes of footage that Robert Rodriguez showed at Comic-Con last week. The footage isn't the best, but not horrible either. I personally can't wait to see this movie because I am a huge fan of Robert Rodriguez.

Machete (Danny Trejo) a renegade former Mexican Federale, roaming the streets of Texas after a shakedown from drug lord Torrez (Steven Seagal). Reluctantly, Machete takes an offer from spin doctor Benz (Jeff Fahey) to assassinate McLaughlin (Robert De Niro) a corrupt Senator. Double crossed and on the run Machete braves the odds with the help of Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), a saucy taco slinger, Padre (Cheech Marin) his "holy" brother, and April (Lindsay Lohan) a socialite with a penchant for guns. All while being tracked by Sartana (Jessica Alba), a sexy ICE agent with a special interest in the blade slinger.

Machete cuts into theaters on September 3, 2010.

Charlie St. Cloud Review

"Charlie St. Cloud shows Zac Efron's acting skills have improved dramatically since High School Musical."

Synopsis: Charlie St. Cloud is a young man overcome by grief at the death of his younger brother. Charlie has a special lasting bond with his brother though, as he can see him. Charlie meets up with his brother (Sam) every day to play catch and talk. Then, a girl comes into Charlie's life and he must choose between keeping a promise he made to Sam, or going after the girl he loves.

Cast: Zac Efron (High School Musical, 17 Again), Amanda Crew (Sex Drive, She's the Man), Charlie Tahan (I Am Legend) with Ray Liotta (Good Fellas), Kim Bassinger (Batman) and Donal Logue (Zodiac, Just Like Heaven)

Review:

Acting: I always thought that Zac Efron would be just another child actor that can't act and only have his looks to get himself acting jobs. After, just 20 minutes into Charlie St. Cloud, I concluded I was wrong . He shows emotion very well in any situation and can maybe squeeze a few tears from the ladies with at least 3 crying scenes.

Charlie Tahan plays his little brother Sam very well. Zac and Charlie have great chemistry together from the start. Tahan is perfect for the part of little brother that is loving, yet a major brat. He says some things that children shouldn't say, but you expect every 12 year old kid to do these things. I really enjoyed the scenes between the brothers because they actually seemed like they have been with each other their whole lives.

The rest of the cast including Charlie's love-interest are just about-average when it comes to acting. The scenes between Zac and Amanda shows that they have some interest in eachother, but not as much as you know he does with Vanessa Hudgens in real life. Also, the rest of the cast don't really have long enough screen time to get a full sense of their characters. Example, Kim Bassinger is only in the movie for around 10 minutes at the most. Even though Ray Liotta is in the film about the same amount of time as Kim, he has a vital role in the film and acts as good as he always does.

Plot: Charlie St. Cloud will be compared to the numerous Nicolas Sparks films, but it has a grander taste of supernatural. The plot is not as original as some might think, but it does have some nice little twist and some "stolen" ones also. I won't reveal the big "twist" at the end, but if you have seen The Invisible then you should think of some plot details pretty early in.

If you catch on to the twist early on, which most guys will, but it may be masked by Zac Efron's looks to the girls, you may feel like it just drags on forever. If you don't happen to catch onto the "twist" then you may get a huge shocker.

The story is filled with laughing, crying, fighting and romance. The women will love it. Guys may have some trouble getting into it, but they will eventually settle into having to see it multiple times with their girlfriends.

Final Thought: The acting is surprisingly great and the plot may be a little stolen from other films (The Invisible), but it does have it's enlightening romantic moments that every 17 year-old girl will love. The supernatural aspect is intriguing to the people who couldn't care less about romance.

UPDATE!! SDCC: Thor Comic-Con Trailer LEAKED!

Earlier today, I came across the Comic-Con Trailer for Thor. I thought it was going to a super blurry bootlegged version because it was shown in 3D. I was very wrong because this version of the trailer isn't blurry and it's not bootlegged. Somebody in the industry released it and they will be in major trouble.

I have had a lot of trouble finding a site that had the trailer still online, it has been taken down on numerous sites. I think I found one that will last a while, but hurry up and watch it before it goes offline.

Thor hits theaters on May 6, 2011.

Update #1: The first player was taken down here is alternative #1. Hopefully no more needed.

Update #2: We have a new player up with the trailer.

PS3 Firmware Update 3.41

The next update for the Playstation 3 is already out and it's kind of a snore.  Update v3.41 adds the "You May Like" feature on the Playstation Store.  This new feature adds a "recommendations" section for games and videos.  On certain items, you may see the "You May Like" section on the right hand side of the screen.  This section shows other content that may be similar or based on other purchases by other Playstation Network users.

"You May Like" is a good way to find similar games that may be to your liking or to find that one game that you've been looking for.  It is said that the feature will go live by the end of July.

I have downloaded v3.41, but I haven't seen the "You May Like" section yet, but I guess I'll have to wait until the end of july.

Yogi Bear Teaser Trailer and Poster

Warner Bros. released the teaser trailer for their upcoming cgi/live-action Yogi Bear. The film has the unlikely pair of Dan Aykroyd as Yogi Bear and Justin Timberlake as Boo-Boo, you heard that right. The film just seems really weird, but Timberlake does a really good job as Boo-Boo. It also stars Anna Faris and Tom Cavanagh.

Jellystone Park has been losing business, so greedy Mayor Brown decides to shut it down and sell the land. That means families will no longer be able to experience the natural beauty of the outdoors -- and, even worse, Yogi and Boo Boo will be tossed out of the only home they've ever known. Faced with his biggest challenge ever, Yogi must prove that he really is "smarter than the average bear" as he and Boo Boo join forces with their old nemesis Ranger Smith to find a way to save Jellystone Park from closing forever.

Yogi Bear hits theaters on December 17, 2010

SDCC: Green Lantern Character Posters

Warner Bros. has released four character posters for the upcoming Dc Comics film Green Lantern. The poster are really cool because when you but them together they make the Green Lantern emblem.

They future looks at Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, first look at Mark Strong as Sinestro and Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond.

The posters show the famous Green Lantern oath "In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night. No Evil Shall Escape My Sight." That oath gives me chills.

SDCC: Sucker Punch Comic-Con Trailer

The Comic-Con trailer for Sucker Punch came online Just 2 days after Zack Snyder showed the first footage at Comic-Con. The trailer really shows some amazing visuals and some very hot girls. I will be first in line to see this when it comes out.

Set in the 1950s, Sucker Punch follows Babydoll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world, she begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.

Sucker Punch hits theaters on March 25, 2011.

SDCC: Amazing Marvel Booth at Comic-Con

Marvel really went all out this year on their booth at Comic-Con. They made the overall theme Thor, which is predictable because it's their next big movie. Here is a list of the cool things did.

First thing they did was have a sweet replica of Odin's Throne as the center piece. This thing looked amazing and expensive.

Then they unveiled the helmets worn by the cast of Thor including Thor's, Odin's and Loki's helmets in a really nice glass case.

Then, they had Thor Director Kenneth Branagh open those mysterious golden doors at the top of the throne and give us the first look at The Destroyer. The Destroyer is an enchanted suit of armor forged by Odin, that when it is animated by a user it possesses the strength to exceed beings such as Thor and is almost totally invulnerable. Loki has used it against Thor many times in the comics. It looks pretty cool.

Then on the last day of Comic-Con they unveiled Captain America's Shield that Chris Evans is actually using on set. The shield looks really cool and even better when it's in a nice glass case.

Then, while they focused all their attention on Captain America's Shield they took the tarp off another glass case and revealed one of Marvel's Most powerful weapons The Infinity Gauntlet. This huge golden gauntlet is a beast to say the least because when one assembles six immensely powerful stones on the glove, each granting its bearer with mastery over one aspect of the universe: Mind, Reality, Time, Space, Soul and Power. Combined on the Infinity Gauntlet, they make the user omnipotent.  That just sounds amazing.

Marvel really have out done themselves this year and I can't wait to see what they got in store for next year.

What do you think about all of these Thor pieces? They cool? Do have any plot idea's for whats in Thor? Leave us a comment on what you think.

SDCC: Legendary Reveals New Godzilla

Legendary Pictures just released the first look of their version of Godzilla on t-shirts at Comic-Con. They used the new fad Augmented Reality (AR) to make some cool effects on the shirts.

Legendary Pictures: Persons attending the conference will receive a t-shirt with an image of the new Godzilla, and when they look at themselves in a webcam at the Legendary Pictures tradeshow booth, they’ll see a superimposed animation of Godzilla’s “atomic breath” shooting out into the air in front of them from Godzilla’s mouth, complete with black smoke rising from the flames and the ground-shaking bellow of Godzilla’s instantly recognizable roar.

I personally don't know what to think of the new design, but it does seem to be favoring the Japanese version. I am partial to the US remake version, but not everybody likes that version.

Godzilla is planned for 2012 release

SDCC: Marvel Panel with The Avengers Cast!!

The biggest panel to me at Comic-Con this year was the Marvel Studios panel in Hall H. I was pretty blown away with what they did with Tron: Legacy on Thursday, but this definitely steals the show.

The panel would consist of Thor and maybe some footage of Captain America because it's been filming for about 9 days. However,  I was not expecting to anything for The Avengers because it hasn't even began production yet.

The first group at the panel was for Captain America and they started off with a teaser trailer that showed some stuff during WWII and a quick shots of Captain America.

They brought out director Joe Johnston with stars Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving.

Kevin Feige said "The footage of Captain America was just from the costume test."

Right after they finished with Captain America they began the Thor panel with some stellar footage that shows some scenes that sum up the plot.

Then the next bit of news really surprised me because they showed a teaser trailer for The Avengers. The trailer showed nothing but the avengers emblem and a voiceover by Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

They then introduce Sam Jackson himself then they bring out the rest of the cast including Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America and then Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.

Robert Downey talked about how some people say Inception is the most "ambitious" film ever made and he says bring all of these heroes together for The Avengers would be the most "ambitious" film ever made.

Downey then introduced and confirmed some major news about characters by saying Clinton Barton......is Jeremy Renner and then said "Reprising his role as Bruce Banner....Mark Ruffalo." The last part was funny joke, but sad for Edward Norton.

So, at the end of the day we got to see a teaser for Captain America, some sweet footage from Thor and a teaser trailer that is very teasing because it shows no footage at all of The Avengers. This panel sounds pretty amazing.

Here is picture of The Avengers cast with new additions Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo. Click pic to make huge.

What you think about the casting and how was this years panel for Marvel. Amazing or okay to say the least? Leave us a comment on what you think.

SDCC: Linda Hamilton Joins Chuck

Chuck creators/producers Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak revealed some cool and interesting news about who will play the mysterious unseen mother of Chuck Bartowski. The name they have thrown out at the Comic-Con panel for Chuck is Linda Hamilton and that is just awesome news. She is cool, oddly buff and can kick as....butt.

Linda Hamilton will join the cast as Mary Bartowski for the fourth season of the show and will have an off and on appearance throughout the season.

I, along with millions of Chuck fans have wondered who will play Chuck's mom, who has been gone from Chuck and Ellie's life since childhood. It seems now the only people they have bring on the show is his grandparents.

Chuck season 4 will premiere on Monday, September 20, at 8pm ET/PT.

This video is so well done.  If this were an animated film, I think it would be awesome.  The story sounds really cool and that is what mainly intrigued me.  I can only imagine that the actions your own character makes will determine the outcome of the story.  Im looking forward to playing this, I can't wait to stand side by side with some of my favorite super heroes and/or villains of all time.

Also, if you want to play the game now,  just go to DC Universe Online and sign up for the beta.  Good luck.  I still haven't got my beta key yet, but when I do, I'll let you know

When you play this game, who will you side with; the heroes or the villains?  Explain your answers in the comment section below

Infamous' Cole Gets A New Look....Again?

The first footage of Sucker Punches' highly anticipated sequel, Infamous 2, was shown at E3 this year, but we didn't see the familiar face we remember from the predecessor.  Infamous' main protagonist is Cole McGrath, a bike courier in the enormous city of Empire.  Cole get's caught in the center of an explosion and mysteriously gains the ability to manipulate electricity.  That cole was a rough, tough, bald electrically charged machine.

Sucker Punch has completely changed his look.  The new cole was a younger, cooler looking messenger, sporting a bunch of tattoos and a slick new haircut.  Well, from what I remember, Cole was a dark and mysterious character who was near bald and always angry looking.

This new look was really criticized by fans of the first game and Sucker Punch must have heard the complaints.  Before the Infamous 2 panel at Comic Con, SP announced that they will be changing Cole back to a more familiar look, most likely more bald.

I have mixed opinions about the new look and the old one.  This new look is cool and I think it would make him more relatable, but he looks too much like the traditional hero.  The old look is also cool and It fits the profile pretty well, but to me, he was never a likable hero or villain.

I for one, was a big fan of Infamous and can't wait for Infamous 2.  Im looking forward to seeing what Sucker Punch can deliver in their action packed and electrifying sequel.  Look out for more news on Infamous 2 in the future.

SDCC: Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is the new video game that gives you the chance to step into the boots of Hal Jordan and wield the most powerful weapon in the universe; the Green Lantern power ring. Rise of the Manhunters is being developed by Double Helix Games and will be published by Warners Bros. Interactive and is set for release sometime in June of 2011.

It's not clear whether or not the games story line will coincide with that of the upcoming feature film or arc off in another direction.  Little information was released about the game, also it wasn't specified if Ryan Reynolds will be voicing Hal either.

Senior Vice President of Production and Development at Warner Bros. Interactive further enlightened us on what the game will be about.  Check out her statement.

“In the videogame players will utilize over a dozen constructs and take flight across the deepest parts of the Universe to restore intergalactic order.  Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters gives players the chance to experience the world of the Green Lantern mythology in an interactive way, going beyond the events of the film and comic books.  The game is the first to center around DC Comics’ Green Lantern franchise and we’re excited to give fans the opportunity to experience the power of the ring with engaging gameplay.”
I think it will be cool to control Jordan and use the power ring to defeat your enemies. You can just imagine the variations of weapons and objects the ring can form into to help with a successful mission.

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters will be released on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS.

Looking back at Double Helix's most recent games, it makes me question question how good Rise of the Manhunters will actually be.  G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra wasn't the best game on the market by a long shot and Silent Hill: Homecoming received mixed reviews.  I guess we'll just have to wait for Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters to hit stores to uncover the outcome.  I'm really looking forward to the Green Lantern movie and I can only hope that Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is just as good as I hope the movie will be

SDCC: Man stabbed in Hall H at Comic-Con

I guess some fans get a little uptight when the Universal Studios panel in Hall H was about to begin because there was a stabbing right before the panel . The news spread fast through the Hall that somebody was stabbed. I just couldn't believe somebody actually stabbed another person at Comic-Con.

I did some digging into the stabbing news and found out it really wasn't that bad of a stabbing. Apparently it was between two friends that got into an argument over them sitting to close to one another or over a seat that they both wanted. All in all, the guy stabbed his friend right next to his eye with a pen.

Here is a photo of the man who did the stabbing. At least he didn't stab his buddy in the back.

The panels in Hall H resumed an hour later.

SDCC: Comic-Con Footage of The Walking Dead

Some brave soldier recorded a decent bootlegged version of the extended trailer shown at Comic-Con. The show has been at the top of my to-watch list for quite some time, because I love zombies and Frank Darabont (The Mist,  The Shawshank Redemption).

The Walking dead is based on the hit comic-book series and will premiere on AMC in October 2010.

The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a small group of survivors traveling across the country in search of a new home away from the hordes of zombies. The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a police officer in the old world, and as their situation grows more and more grim, the group's desperation to survive pushes them to do almost anything to stay alive.

He said "Nathan Fillion is Ant-Man," adding, "unfortunately Ant-Man isn't really in the movie." Marvel confirmed that it was a joke. A mean joke I might add.

SDCC: Cabin in the Woods not 3D anymore?

Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's creature feature Cabin in the Woods may not be getting the 3D release it was pushed back for over year to convert the film in 3D.

Joss Whedon told the audience at Comic-Con that it was the studio that wanted to convert Cabin in the Woods to 3D because they felt that every Horror movie is being released in 3D. That is clearly a speculation that really didn't pan out.

It's funny that Whedon, himself, believes Cabin in the Woods should stay 2D because certain scenes were shot in very John Carpenter-esque  and are best looking in 2D. He later said "What we're hoping to do is to be the only horror movie coming out that is not in 3D."

Cabin in the Woods hits theaters on January 14, 2011 in 3D or 2D? Who Knows yet?

Netflix on PS3 Going Disc-Less

According to Netflix, by the end of October, they will cease to use the disc used to stream movies to the playstation 3.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said this statement:
"Before our next call in October, we expect to be launching a major new version of our Sony PS3 user interface which doesn't require a disc and is dynamically updated continuously with the latest Netflix UI improvements," Hastings said.
A disc-less Netflix application seems like much less of a hassle then having to switch out a disc to stream movies.  I still don't think I'll be getting this, I think I'll just stick to Redbox.

New Gears of War 3 Screens Shows Next Carmine

The Gears of War universe has had a very unfortunate fate for the Carmine brothers.  In each installment in the Gears series, a Carmine has been killed in action.  In Gears of War 3, Clayton Carmine will fight to survive in the gritty war environment, but his chances may be slim.

Microsoft is giving fans the chance to determine the fate of Carmine.  If you want Clayton to live, then you can purchase a shirt for your avatar that says "Save Carmine".  If you want him to die, buy "Carmine Must Die".

Check out some screenshots of Clayton Carmine while fighting against the locust.

What do you think?  Should Carmine die or should he prevail?  Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
