Matthew Vaughn is returning for X-Men Sequel!!

After A very long debate whether we would end up getting a new director for the sequel to X-Men: First Class because Vaughn wasn't contracted for another film. All of the cast was, so be rest assured they will be back. Earlier it was announced that Vaughn has reached a deal with 20th Century Fox to return to directed the sequel with a script being written by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class). So the original team is back even down to Bryan Singer producing again. I cannot wait to see what they have in store for the X-Men and who will they introduce.

Step Up 4 Teaser Trailer

So I don't know about you but I'm a avid fan of the Step Up series, don't get me wrong the plot is just horrible on them all but the dance sequences are amazing. Step 3D was actually a pretty awesome movie visually. So now we got Step Up 4 not 4D (thank god because we don't want sweat in our faces) coming this summer. The plot is probably bad but the backdrop of Miami and we will get flash mobs people! flash mobs! dancing to the extreme right there.

Step Up 4 dances into theaters July 27

Resident Evil: Retribution Poster and Banner !!

After a pretty BA first film, awesome second, and okay third and even watchable fourth film, we will be given a fifth one. Resident Evil: Retribution or cleverly spelled "Re5ident Evil: Retribution will still have Alice fighting zombies and have some back story added into it. I will likely see this film just for that but come on this is like trying to continue a series that has run it's course. The horse died a bit ago but your gonna keep kicking him across the track to the finish line.

I will say the poster is pretty cool

Resident Evil: Retribution will hit theaters on September 14

First Look at The Dark Knight Rises Merch!!

Some shots of some pretty awesome merchandise promos for The Dark Knight Rises have made their way online. All I can really say is I'm waiting in a (short) line for that awesome backpack and I'll even wear it to school (college). You probably think I'm kidding but…I'll let you decided for yourself. Anyways, this backpack is just part of some cool merchandise that ended up online. I think one is back of action figure box (I will own it) and a cool poster (also own). So check them out.

The Dark Knight Rises flies into theaters on July 20th.

Petition for Allergen-Free Girl Scout Cookies

I know this has nothing really to do with The Last Stand news but it is a very personal matter that I would like to be known to all the readers. The Girl Scouts do not currently have any allergen-free cookies that they sell. It's crazy knowing that approximately 132,000 current girl scouts are in fact not able to eat the cookies they sell. I personally know one myself that must eat gluten-free foods. So can you imagine how hard it must be for them to sell something they can't even enjoy themselves?

This is a petition that was started to show Girl Scouts that there is many customers that would love to be able to have some cookies. If you could please just follow the link or click on the permanent link above the search bar to your right to sign it and just know every signature helps. Tell everyone you know to sign it through Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or even if your rocking old school with Myspace. Thank you deeply from us at The Last Stand and my friends and family.

Frank Darabont Developing L.A. Noir for TNT

After leaving the phenomenal drama/horror The Walking Dead after season 1, Frank must be dying to get a new show off the ground. Well he has found that project and it's for TNT. The show is an adaptation of a book called L.A. Noir by John Buntin. (not the game sorry fellow gamers) I am very excited to see him show running another great series soon.

Darabont will write and direct the pilot while being executive producer for the entire series. Pretty involved there aren't we Frank. I'm glad to see him back in full swing.

The series will follow a former police chief William Parker and mobster Mickey Cohen for control of the luchsious Los Angeles in the 40's and 50's. The time period will reflect "a world of glamorous movie stars, powerful studio heads, returning war heroes, a powerful and corrupt police force and an even more dangerous criminal network determined to make L.A. its West Coast base."

I can't wait to see this show whenever it hits the waves.

The Bourne Legacy Poster is Lackluster

We were given the pretty boring image of the main star Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross with a death stare.  Now we have been truly blessed with a poster for the film that is lackluster to say the least. The poster has nothing good to it with a slogan of "prepare for the unexpected". That is class A marketing there I tell you. Dumbest slogan in a long time. I know this movie will do amazing but come on.

Here is the lackluster poster for your viewing (I just found out it isn't a final poster.)

The Bourne Legacy hits theaters on August 3rd

First Look at The Bourne Legacy

USA Today has released the first image from the next film the Bourne series The Bourne Legacy. The image is of new main character Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) featuring a pretty badass death stare. The new film will not feature Matt Damon at all and is set in the same universe. Pretty complicated I know. All I know is Renner is going to kick ass and do an amazing job with the Renner hair and a sweet supporting cast including Rachel Weisz, Oscar Isaac, and villain Edward Norton.

The Bourne Legacy hits theaters on August 3rd

Most Anticipated Films of 2012

2012 is here and It will be full of huge blockbusters of all sorts. I won't be surprised if this year will break records in all categories. Here is a list of some of the biggest anticipated films in order of release date not rank. My number one ranked film is The Dark Knight Rises for your information (the 8 times I'll see it will prove that.)

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (March 2)

This isn't that child fairytale we have all been told by our grandparents, this is a brutal action film that will hopefully be awesome. Not to much has been revealed on the film, even though the release is 3 months away. This is a bit scary but I'll give anything with Jeremy Renner a fighting chance. A trailer should be released very soon. Keep a look out.

21 Jump Street (March 16)

Jonah Hill skinny. Enough said. Seriously though it can get tiring with having old 80s sitcoms being made into movies but with comedy angle to it. Some work, most have no chance. I will give this movie a chance with a great cast and a pretty good story. After watching the red band trailer, you will want to see this film too.

The Hunger Games (March 23)

This is the next big teen blockbuster to take the reigns from Twilight or so they hope. The story is actually pretty promising for more than just girls this time. Also, they have some good actors in this movie. So check it out in March.

American Reunion (April 6)

The next chapter in the popular American Pie series, but this one will return to the original cast and theaters again. I'm excited to see Stifler and everyone back for a high school reunion. Trailer proves there is some pretty crazy things going on since the last time and crazy things will happen.

The Cabin in the Woods (April 13)

Finally!! Finally this movie will be released in theaters. After years of being delayed and pushed back and converted in 3D it will hit theaters in a few months. Joss Whedon will be having a great year with 2 movies being released within a few months of each other. Cabin is a twisted horror like movie that I think will turn out really well done.

The Avengers (May 4)

Quite easily the biggest film of 2012 to comic book nerds. It will bring all of The Avengers together for the first time and it will be glorious. I get more Iron Man and more Hawkeye, what more is there for me. Just be ready for when they assemble.

Prometheus (June 8)

Nothing can really be known about this movie other than it will be along the lines of Alien. The trailer even makes it seem like a remake or reboot or prequel. You choose. The actors are all phenomenal and this will be a movie that will make believers out of the doubters.

The Amazing Spider-Man (July 3)

Bless Marc Webb for rebooting Spider-Man into what looks like a spectacular movie. The series really needed to go back to the high-school years and explore that era. This film has the talent to make that happen perfectly. Also, I can't wait to take my girlfriend to see it.

The Dark Knight Rises (July 20)

I have waited years for this film to finally get released. I mean years. This is the end of the best superhero trilogy of all time, and I think it will go out with a huge bang. The trailer gives up chills and it will be a huge hit. I'll let you know how it is after a few (8 at least) times of seeing it.

The Bourne Legacy (August 3)

After 3 really amazing Bourne movies it is time to move on to the next assassin and it's the amazing Renner again. His 3rd movie on my list and I suspect he will have an amazing year with his films. Not much is known about the film other than it's not a sequel or reboot, but a story set in same universe. So I am very intrigued.

NO PIC OR TRAILER YET
(TBA)

The Hobbit (December 14)

After the extremely amazing (long) Lord of the Rings trilogy is finished, we felt like we needed a sequel of some sorts. Well, we will be blessed with a prequel that is full of adventure and dwarfs. The story is so grand we will need 2 films. (Thank god it is not 3 this time) The film looks epic to say the least.

This is a very opinionated list from me and I know there are plenty of movies that everyone is looking forward to see. So list yours down below, may it be (hopefully not) Twilight or another major film.

Top 10 Films of 2011

2011 has rightfully brought a fair share of bombs but they really have brought in a couple great films that will be loved for years to come. The variety this year is quite unusual for me because I have films about super heroes, southern girls, and a crazy awesome driver. I really have had a tough time getting this list narrowed down and even harder to actually place them in order. Just so difficult. So here is my very opinionated list of top movies of 2011. Enjoy.

10. Captain America: The First Avenger

The first superhero movie on the list and it is really a fantastic adaptation of a character that was really hard to get screen ready. Not many people had faith in a movie about Captain America because he isn't as relatable to people in todays world as Batman or Iron Man are. Director Joe Johnston really went all the way with Captain and pulled a hit out of left field with a perfect origin story that was funny, awesome, and just plain fun. Not many origin stories have a lot of action that works. Great addition to the Marvel family of films.

9. The Adventures of Tintin

If you thought this movie just a kids movie that would be cheap kiddie knock-off of Indiana Jones then you were so wrong. Tin Tin is filled with just amazing amount of action and not just kid action but adult-worthy action with just about something awesome happening every 2 minutes. The story was worthy of Indiana Jones with just enough mystery to keep kids locked in and perfect amount to keep adults watching it. The animation is simply amazing with plenty of moments your just looking in aww at the scenes background or action. It's crazy how Steven Spielberg has risen from the depths of action failure of Indiana Jones 4. Tintin is redeemable in every aspect.

8. The Muppets

Who knew The Muppets could be cool again (were they cool before?) and gain critical acclaim? actor Jason Segel did. The thing that ended up proving this wasn't going to be a lame child movie was when the trailers were all coming out and they were just fantastic parodies of movies released at that time or making fun of themselves. The humor in the film has really taken people by surprise in a good way. It is childish enough to be funny to kids and there is that adult humor buried into it just perfectly. The Muppets are back and in style. Family film of the year.

7. The Help

This is probably the only film on the list directed towards women, but it is such a great movie. The film has really shocked me with the fantastic acting of the lovely Emma Stone and Bryce Howard. Everyone in this film was fantastic. The story is just original (book) and transcends onto screen very easily. They went all out with the production value of actually being in the right era in the south. Oh and it will likely make most women cry or tear up (men sorry..it will n..happen to you too)

6. X-Men: First Class

The best superhero film released in 2011 and it is by a long shot too. X-Men was the shiznit back with X-Men and X2 but ruined with X3 and Wolverine. It was up to the prequel to fix the reign of X-Men and they accomplished that and then some. This movie was perfect for showing how it all started and with great actors taking over for other great actors. We needed some background on these guys. The film has plenty of story and action to keep everyone entertained. I can't wait to see the next X-Men movie.

5. Warrior

We have sports movies ranging from hockey to volleyball and everything in-between. So now it's time to get a MMA movie with heart. From the guy who made arguably the best hockey (sports) movie of all time Miracle, he has out did himself with a truly spine tingling battle between brothers to win a fight. The movie has amazing actors in the parts and they really make it hard to choose a side to want to win. Along with fighting scenes that are brutal realistic and awesome.

4. Super 8

J.J. Abrams has really been on the top directors to watch for the past few years and this film has been one of the best kept secret films of recent years. Super 8 brings back feelings of nostalgia that have been absent for years..and I mean years. The thematic feeling of child like wonder and adventure haven't been seen since The goonies almost 30 years ago. The production was dead on with the 70s era and dialogue, that just adds to the amazing story and special effect.

3. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

It is so rare to have a fourth film in a series be the best one, Actually, unheard of in my opinion. Director Brad Bird has beaten those odds and just gave us the most amazing M:I ever. Most were scared to have a fourth one and a first time live-action director behind the camera, but with guidance from J.J. Abrams they won. The action is realistic with just stunning backdrops from all over the world. It is funny how the action goes from planned out to something failing and them improvising. It works so well. New additions in cast are gladly accepted by me. They needed it.

2. Source Code

This movie took my surprise. I thought it would be really good, but not amazing. I was so wrong. I fell in love with this movie from hearing more about the premise and everything else I heard it was more amazing. Source Code isn't a flawed time travel movie at all, it is clever and well thought out from beginning to end. The acting is just perfect with smart humor, amazing drama, and fantastic plot. You just end up getting involved in the action around every turn. Just absolutely amazing film.

1. Drive

The movie that just took everyone buy surprise for better or worse. The trailers made this film look like a mindless action film about revenge. Those were the most misleading trailers in years. This film is a smart independent film that was just crazy amazing. After the first 5 minutes you get the feel for film and it's not like anything I've really seen before. It draws you into it with a sense of wonder and originality. You never really know what will happen in the scene. It is an amazing feeling in todays film world. The acting was just perfect from every character being cast perfect. Everything is just amazing in this film from fantastic songs to the amazing story. The biggest great surprise of 2011.

Honerable mentions: The Lincoln Lawyer, Bridesmaids, Contagion, Reel Steal, Thor, and Harry Potter Part 7, Drive Angry 3D (pure fun).

Movies I haven't seen but think they are: The Artist, Limitless, Another Earth, Attack the Block, and J. Hoover.

Just can't wait to see what this year has to offer
