Newcomer Taron Egerton In Talks to Join Matthew Vaughns "Secret Service"

Variety is reporting that director Matthew Vaughn might have found his co-star in 'Secret Service', an adaptation of the popular Mark Millar comic series, in finding newcomer Taron Edgerton. The film is being directed by Vaughn with Colin Firth starring as the seasoned secret agent that is tasked with training his nephew (Edgerton).

The film gained some attention when Vaughn passed up doing the sequel to his hit X-Men: First Class to do The Secret Service. That shows he believes in the film and is putting all his mind in it. He did that with Kick-Ass (another adaptation of Millar's work).

Other actors have been eyed for the role including Kick-Ass himself, Aaron Johnson, Jack O'Connell and others. They must see something in this new kid to give him the shot. Now they have the main characters except the female lead and villain.

Sources say Emma Watson and Bella Heathcote are rumored to be in the mix for the female lead, while the studio would like a big actor for the villain. Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio have turned down the offer. Booo!!

What do you guys think about the new casting choice?

Matthew Vaughn Producing Fantastic Four Reboot

Last year, 20th Century Fox hired Mark Millar (writer of Kick-Ass and The Ultimates) to be a consultant on all of their Marvel Comic film adaptations. Well, this man has been busy over that time with getting all the players together and making magic happen. Well, he tweeted some very interesting news that Deadline has confirmed (but I still didn't doubt it coming from the main man himself).

Millar tweeted this:

That makes me very excited! Trank had a fantastic (see what I did there) first film with Chronicle and I expect great things with his take on Fantastic Four, but now that Vaughn is stepping in to produce, I am  so excited now! Vaughn has an amazing record with us comic geeks doing X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass. So expect some big news in future of this film.

We are still speculating that 20th Century Fox wants to a single universe, much in the way Marvel is doing in house with their properties. It makes perfect sense for them to do that with them owning Fantastic Four and X-Men.

Do you guys want to see Fantastic Four rebooted? Or Vaughn producing?

First Official Pic From Kick-Ass 2!

Entertainment Weekly will run the first official look at Kick-Ass 2 this week and it is pretty awesome.

The Photo gives us a great look at Jim Carrey portraying Colonel Stars and Stripes with his awesome crime-fighting dog. Also, we see Kick-Ass, Aaron Johnson, in full suit.

In the action-comedy sequel Kick-Ass 2, the eponymous hero joins a superhero team called Justice Forever, led by Colonel Stars and Stripes. Chloe Grace Moretz reprises her role as Mindy, but has "given up Hit Girl and is trying to be a normal teenage," says Jeff Wadlow, who picks up the directing reigns from Matthew Vaughn.

Kick-Ass 2 hits theaters on June 28th

Editorial: Who Should Direct Star Wars: Episode 7?

Last week the huge news broke that Disney bought Lucasfilm from George Lucas and that Star Wars: Episode 7 will be happening very soon. 2015 to be exact! So with no director attached to the project ,after Lucas refuses to do anything, we have an opening that needs to be filled by someone with a true vision and can accomplish a great sic-fi opera film. So who could make the cut? Who has the guts to try ? Here is the short list of known directors I believe could take over the series and try to transform it into a new classic trilogy. Some of them are established in the sic-fi ranks, while some are a bit out there in style and emotion but could have the goods somewhere. Here is the list in no real particular order.

Jon Favreau

Jon is one of the best men for the job for numerous reasons. He is a nerd with a sense of humor and vision of action and sic-fi. He is perfect for getting the tech and cgi looking amazing, all while being able to have great characters and development. He approached Iron Man with a vision and changed Marvel films for the best. He could very well make a character like Hans Solo come alive and have attitude. Already directed Ford before, again would be a no brainer. I am rooting for him to at least try and come up with a pitch to direct it. He has the goods.

Matthew Vaughn

Vaughn is a more natural person for doing a fun role then some because he gets action, he gets humor, he gets awesomeness, most importantly he gets fans. He brought the world the legendary Kick-Ass and made it more mainstream for people and fans adored it just the same. He took over the reigns of X-Men from Bryan Singer and made a classic and one of best in series. If he took over for the Star Wars films he would be very conscious of what we want and what will be awesome on film. Expect great action and great characters. Also, I have big hunches he will be one of the finalist for the job because he recently backed out of X-Men and I wonder if this is the reason why? hmmmm.

Neil Blomkamp

This man is probably one of the biggest nerds making movies right now. I mean this guy spent years perfecting the Halo movie to be made and it got scrapped but that didn't stop him from making one hell of a good sic-fi movie with District 9. He works amazing with cgi effects and could bring the creatures and landscape to life with great direction no problem. He is a huge nerd and, even better, he is a true visionary. Expect big things from this man in the next few years with some original sic-fi films.

Duncan Jones

To me, Jones is more like retro George Lucas than anyone else on this list because of his films to date. He is one of the only people making films to use models and they look damn good. Moon is one stunning film story and visually wise and reminds me how Lucas used to be back in beginnings with THX 1138 and Star Wars. Jones isn't very mainstream..yet, but he will make his mark soon and he could very well help bring Star Wars back to its roots of story and great practical effects with cgi mixed in.

Did I miss your vote for director? I have a few more names after the jump for you if your interested…

Matthew Vaughn Not Directing X-Men: Days of Future Past but Bryan Singer is in Running!

This news came to a shock to me that Vaughn is getting out of the directors chair for his sequel film X-Men: Days of Future Past. The good news is he will still be around as producer, even better news is X-Men 1 and 2 director Bryan Singer is on top of list of replacement directors!

It seems that Vaughn and Singer are pulling the old switch-a-roo on the production. Singer was producer of First Class and helped write the script for it, so he is no stranger to the prequels of his own films. I have faith in the decisions and hope Singer accepts because he will need a rebound good film after Jack The Giant Slayer (formally Killer) will be horrible. Just speculation but have you seen the trailer!? Lets all campaign for Bryan Singer to return to the series he helped make and make it better.

More news to come

Jim Carrey Officially Joins 'Kick-Ass 2' !!

After weeks of speculation, Legendary Jim Carrey has joined the already awesome cast of the anticipated sequel Kick-Ass 2 as Colonel Stars! I have been noticeably a huge fan of Carrey since I was 4. Every kid wanted the Ace Ventura doo right??….just me? So this casting is a big plus in my book with shooting of the film starting in like 5 days!

The news came from the director himself on twitter when he tweeted:
6 days till we start shooting… and we officially have our Colonel. Alrighty f’n then!
I think the Ace Ventura catchphrase really gets the casting across pretty well. Carrey will play Colonel Stars, who once was an enforcer for the Genovese family that survived the Big Daddy and Hit-Girl massacre in Kick-Ass (actually mentioned in film). Well, he decides to switch sides and be a good guy with fellow enforcer and brother Lieutenant Stripes. I can't wait to see this film come together.

Everyone is returning from first film including Nic Cage as Big Daddy. Along with new characters from comics including Doctor Gravity (Donald Faison), Javier (John Leguizamo), and rumored Insect Man and Night Bitch.

Kick-Ass 2 will hit theaters on June 28th, 2013

Matthew Vaughn is returning for X-Men Sequel!!

After A very long debate whether we would end up getting a new director for the sequel to X-Men: First Class because Vaughn wasn't contracted for another film. All of the cast was, so be rest assured they will be back. Earlier it was announced that Vaughn has reached a deal with 20th Century Fox to return to directed the sequel with a script being written by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class). So the original team is back even down to Bryan Singer producing again. I cannot wait to see what they have in store for the X-Men and who will they introduce.

Also, its cool how it shows kennedy on tv, that makes it actually feel like its in the sixties. A logo for the film was released yesterday and is directly below the trailer.
