Comic-Con: Superman/Batman Officially Announced!!

Holy S@#$ Batman!! Warner Bros. Just announced something that will blow away any doubts it would ever happen. After so many years of rumors and nothing happening, Warner Bros. announced at the end of the pretty spectacular panel that a Man of Steel sequel will be made. Just not any old sequel. It's a Superman/Batman Worlds Finest movie!!

Ok this just blew me away. I knew they wanted to do something with Batman before Justice League but not the epic Superman/Batman movie.

At the end of the panel, they pulled a "oh one more thing" and Zack Snyder pops up on stage and thanks for the support of Man of Steel. He than announces Man of Steel sequel with
“It’s official that we are gonna make another Superman movie… The truth is you don’t want me to tell you what the movie’s about, but I can say that maybe there’s a single element that will be in the film that I could help you out with…”
Then, Man of Steel star Harry Lennix comes out to read a passage from Frank Millers The Dark Knight Returns.
He reads "“I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments. I want you to remember my hand at your throat.  I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”
Than the lights go out and a logo pops up on screen showing the Batman symbol behind the "S" Shield!! Superman/Batman is officially on people!!

Here is the logo that popped up on screen

Christopher Nolan's Interstellar Coming To Theaters on November 7, 2014

Warner Bros. Pictures and Paramount Pictures, together, announced that Christopher Nolan's original film Interstellar will be co-produced and distributed by them. They announced Interstellar will be released in theaters and IMAX on November 7, 2014.

Christopher Nolan recently completed his Dark Knight Trilogy and he was in need of a new project to work on, and here it is. Interstellar is an original idea based on a script by his brother Jonathan Nolan.

The plot is set to revolve around a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding. (mind blown on that one). Anything with Nolan is a must see on my list, but Nolan + Sci-Fi = can't wait to see this!!!

Rumor: Christopher Nolan Overseeing Justice League, Zack Snyder Maybe Directing, and Christian Bale Back as Batman

This has to be one of the biggest rumors that Latino Review has released in a very long time (although they can be very credible). It blows the Marvel 'World War Hulk' Avengers storyline out of the water. Before I go any farther in this rumor…just know it is exactly that and I have trouble believing all of it. Just so many factors I see that go against it.

The rumor is a behemoth, Latino Review reported last night that Chris Nolan has already taken over the DC Universe at Warner Bros and every superhero film in production must go through him first. That is a huge thing to drop but lets move on first. Also, they said that Zack Snyder is going to co-produce, if not maybe direct it with Christian Bale returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman. This whole article just got crazy and your (if your a geek/nerd) mind is going nuts right now.

So lets get in the fine points of this and strip down them (the rumors, people).

Chris Nolan taking on godfather role over DC Universe

Chris Nolan taking on a huge role in overseeing DC Universe pictures for Warner Bros. is a huge nerdgasm for all fans, but honestly what are the chances of him doing that. Nolan is known for giving us the biggest Batman series with arguably one of the best pictures of the century. He is a huge fan himself, but he doesn't want to always be doing superhero stuff and he's said that before. This man is a highly productive sought after director. How can the man who only works on one film at a time manage a vast catalogue of superheroes leading up to Justice League film. I think chances are slim for him to be a big contributor in the grand scheme, but maybe a guy to help bring the players together and make something happen and put in his 2 cents. I just don't see him in a Kevin Fiege role (only purpose is to manage Marvel films), he is a filmmaker. I give this rumor a plausibility, but not to the full extent of him being greatly involved.

Zack Snyder Producing and Possibility Directing

Zack Snyder is a huge fan of all things comics and with a two great comic book films under him (300, Watchmen), and with hearing early reviews of Man of Steel being amazing, I can see this man up for the challenge of producing and even directing a Justice League film. He knows a lot about how the mechanics of these types of films work and has a great visual appearance in all of his films. The balance of Justice League resting on the shoulders of Man of Steel, If proven a success, Warner Bros. would be in great thought to get him on board. I think this rumor is very plausible and I can see him wanting to take on the film.

Christian Bale returning as Bruce Wayne aka Batman

Here is the only really big problem I have with this rumor. Christian Bale is a great Batman, don't get me wrong, but he has said the only way he would come back was if Nolan came up to him with a way to make a fourth film work. Would Justice League be considered the fourth film? Warner Bros. reportedly wants to tie the world into The Dark Knight universe, while cool, would really make the 3 films have no meaning with seeing how Bruce Wayne became something bigger and changed things in Gotham and put up the cowl. Although, I do admit, since Man of Steel is said to be more down to each and in tone of the series, I can see it happening. I think I could adjust to it sooner or later. Still, it doesn't change the fact that Bale would likely only join if Nolan was somewhere on board. So it is true Nolan is overseeing it, Bale couldn't be to far behind the bandwagon.

Just remember folks, these are all just rumors for now. No matter how crazy they are, you just never know. Latino Review has a pretty good track record with DC, but we all get stuff wrong sometime...

A Very Awesome Man of Steel Trailer!

After one awesome poster being released *not really*, they have given us one hell of a awesome trailer for Man of Steel. The trailer gives us a great feel for how the movie will be and all I can say is we are in for treat. I was very interested in this pic before with Zack Snyder directing and Chris Nolan producing*bow to them*, but after seeing this trailer, I can't wait to see it! Check it out for yourself and get some good shots of the bunch and Superman going supersonic and maybe a very brief shot at the villain.*cough General Zod cough*.

Editorial: Who Should Direct Star Wars: Episode 7?

Last week the huge news broke that Disney bought Lucasfilm from George Lucas and that Star Wars: Episode 7 will be happening very soon. 2015 to be exact! So with no director attached to the project ,after Lucas refuses to do anything, we have an opening that needs to be filled by someone with a true vision and can accomplish a great sic-fi opera film. So who could make the cut? Who has the guts to try ? Here is the short list of known directors I believe could take over the series and try to transform it into a new classic trilogy. Some of them are established in the sic-fi ranks, while some are a bit out there in style and emotion but could have the goods somewhere. Here is the list in no real particular order.

Jon Favreau

Jon is one of the best men for the job for numerous reasons. He is a nerd with a sense of humor and vision of action and sic-fi. He is perfect for getting the tech and cgi looking amazing, all while being able to have great characters and development. He approached Iron Man with a vision and changed Marvel films for the best. He could very well make a character like Hans Solo come alive and have attitude. Already directed Ford before, again would be a no brainer. I am rooting for him to at least try and come up with a pitch to direct it. He has the goods.

Matthew Vaughn

Vaughn is a more natural person for doing a fun role then some because he gets action, he gets humor, he gets awesomeness, most importantly he gets fans. He brought the world the legendary Kick-Ass and made it more mainstream for people and fans adored it just the same. He took over the reigns of X-Men from Bryan Singer and made a classic and one of best in series. If he took over for the Star Wars films he would be very conscious of what we want and what will be awesome on film. Expect great action and great characters. Also, I have big hunches he will be one of the finalist for the job because he recently backed out of X-Men and I wonder if this is the reason why? hmmmm.

Neil Blomkamp

This man is probably one of the biggest nerds making movies right now. I mean this guy spent years perfecting the Halo movie to be made and it got scrapped but that didn't stop him from making one hell of a good sic-fi movie with District 9. He works amazing with cgi effects and could bring the creatures and landscape to life with great direction no problem. He is a huge nerd and, even better, he is a true visionary. Expect big things from this man in the next few years with some original sic-fi films.

Duncan Jones

To me, Jones is more like retro George Lucas than anyone else on this list because of his films to date. He is one of the only people making films to use models and they look damn good. Moon is one stunning film story and visually wise and reminds me how Lucas used to be back in beginnings with THX 1138 and Star Wars. Jones isn't very mainstream..yet, but he will make his mark soon and he could very well help bring Star Wars back to its roots of story and great practical effects with cgi mixed in.

Did I miss your vote for director? I have a few more names after the jump for you if your interested…

First Look at The Dark Knight Rises Merch!!

Some shots of some pretty awesome merchandise promos for The Dark Knight Rises have made their way online. All I can really say is I'm waiting in a (short) line for that awesome backpack and I'll even wear it to school (college). You probably think I'm kidding but…I'll let you decided for yourself. Anyways, this backpack is just part of some cool merchandise that ended up online. I think one is back of action figure box (I will own it) and a cool poster (also own). So check them out.

New The Dark Knight Rises Poster

This is quite literally the most badass Batman poster to come out since way back when The Dark Knight days with The Joker teasers. I had a nerdgasm when I saw this one earlier. An epic nerdgasm mixed with a mangasm.

It reveals somethings that are pretty crazy if correct. For instance, it says "The legend ends" WTF does that mean? Batman will die? or better yet have back broken? or even the broken mask, what did Bane do to him and does he know the identity of him since the mask is broken? I'm full of questions.

Here is the epic teaser poster that I will for sure buy and put on my Batman wall. Yes..I have a Batman wall for the questions in your head right now. It's epic to say the least.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and don't forget to check out the 8 min prologue to it hitting IMAX with M:I 4 later this week. (If you super lucky)

Hi-Res Pics From The Dark Knight Rises

Earlier this week some poorly scanned photos of this months issue of Empire magazine made their way online. The images featured the main article about The Dark Knight Rises. It had some pretty awesome shots of Bane (Tom Hardy) and some of Batman (Christian Bale). They look pretty beastly.

Side Note: Just like back in 2007 with the IMAX showings of I Am Legend with opening scene of The Dark Knight, Nolan will be showing 6-7 minute opening of The Dark Knight Rises before IMAX of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol this December.

Here are the covers and images from the issue in Hi-Res.

I can not wait to see this movie (8 times) in theaters next summer. Just kidding but seriously I'm not.

Anne Hathaway is Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy is Bane

I know it may be hard to take in all that (weird) information at once, but its all true.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced the news earlier today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle or aka Catwoman. I know some will have trouble accepting that casting, but if Nolan has a vision, then let him finish his series how he want to do it. I believe she could do really well and maybe get some praise for her role.

Also, they announced Tom hardy will play Bane. That was a shock because Bane is while not the most crazy villain in the Batman mythology, he is not the most realistic either. I hope Nolan and Goyer have something believable for the creation of Bane. It is pretty sweet that Badass Tom Hardy will play the man that broke Batman's spine in the comics, back in the day.

Here is the official press release:

BURBANK, CA, January 19, 2011 – Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”

In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”

Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.

The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Rumor: The Dark Knight Rises Female Lead Short list

It seems like Chris Nolan has been a little busy with casting lately and somebody got their hands on the short list he created for the female lead in The Dark Knight Rises.

The roles are believed to be for the love interest of Bruce Wayne and the female villain.

The names on the short list are not that surprising, but they are high-profile.

The list includes the names of Naomi Watts, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightley, Blake Lively and Rachel Weisz.

Christian Bale, Michael Caine, and Gary Oldman are returning with the addition of Tom Hardy in an unspecified role. This movie could end up being very epic.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20, 2012.

Tom Hardy Reuniting with Nolan for Batman

Deadline is reporting that actor Tom Hardy has been cast in the untitled Batman sequel. This will mark the second time Hardy has worked with director Christopher Nolan, so I guess he really liked his work in his last film Inception.

The site says "Insiders are keeping the role secret and won't even say if he's up for a villain role, but that seems a reasonable assumption."

Hardy's will have a lead role, so look forward to seeing a lot of him in the movie. He definitely could take on the role of the Riddler.

Michael Caine Gives Possible Batman Shooting Date

Sir Michael Caine on the Chris Moyles Show
Michael Caine had an interview on BBC Radio 1 "The Chris Moyles Show" earlier today for some publicity on his autobiography "The Elephant to Hollywood" and the converstion eventually drifted to the highly anticipated Batman sequel.

Caine said the third Batman film will "probably start in May next year...".

He continued to say that Christopher Nolan and his brother Jonah have told nobody who the viallian is going to be. I have a strong feeling that it will be The Riddler.

Also, if you were wondering if Chris is returning to direct the third film, I have some great news for you. Christopher Nolan said today to Empire, he is returning to direct the third film for sure.

More news to come within the next two years

Untitled Batman film is scheduled for a July 20, 2012 release date

Chris Nolan says Inception Game Is Planned

Christopher Nolan has confirmed that they will be making a Inception video-game in the near future.

Nolan announced the news during a press conference in Rome to promote the delayed release of Inception in Italy.

He told Variety "One thing we are looking at doing is developing a video game based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can't fit into a feature film"

If your like me and really can't wait to play this game then you will be glad and sad to know that Nolan said "That's something we've been talking about and are looking at doing long-term, in a couple of years." That just seems so far away, but you want it to be good and not suck.

Daily Movie News

Wednesday February 10th, 2010

  • Writer David S. Goyer and Jonah Nolan announced that they are currently writing the next Batman movie in the Christopher Nolan series. No news on villains, plot details, or anything.

  • Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens has finally settled on a release date of July 29, 2011. The announcement came after Universal moved Peter Berg's Battleship from that date to May 25, 2011. The only other film set to be released on July 29th is Sony's The Smurfs

  • Another change in the release date for Priest. This time it has been pushed back to January 14, 2011 for a release in 3D. This movie just cannot keep a date set and now it's in 3D (WOW).

  • Fox is developing a reboot for the Daredevil franchise to keep the rights to the property. Screenwriter David Scarpa (The Day the Earth Stood Still) is rumored to be writing it. So, maybe it will be better then the Ben Affleck movie, even though it's not a bad film.

  • Director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) is rumored to be helping with the production of the next Superman film is some way. He probably won't direct it, but he may help with character development, casting, and production. Who cares what he helps with because it's effing Chris Nolan.

  • Animated film company Imagi International has gone bankrupt and their film in production CG-film Gatchaman is safe for now. The anticipated film is being outsourced to mainland China to get finished. So you fans can breath again.

  • Twilight star Taylor lautner will star in Stretch Armstrong. Stretch is based on the hit 70's toy from Hasbro that was relaunched in the 90's and is getting a feature-film treatment from Academy Award winning producer Brian Grazer and Steve Oedekerk has written a screenplay for it. I just don't know how a skinny kid will play a hulking beast of a man. I just don't see it.

More news later and maybe a name change. I just don't have time to do "Daily Movie News", so maybe Just "Movie News".
