Trailer: Captain America: Civil War + Posters and Screenshots!

It has been quite some time since a post has been, well... posted. So what's a better way than doing a post about the first Captain America: Civil War trailer? I thought so.

The first trailer dropped not long ago and it was glorious in every way! We got to see the teams forming and see everything start falling into place for one epic fight. One epic Civil War (see what I did there).

We end up getting a great first glimpse of Black Panther in full costume and keeping his end of the fight very interesting. We are still waiting for our first glimpse of the elusive Spider-Man. In due time my friends. In due time.

So here is the trailer along with 3 Posters and some screenshots I took to get a better look at things including Black Panther, the teams, and the registration act itself.

Check them out

6 Actors Who Should be the New Spider-Man

Some big news has been unveiled a couple of weeks ago involving ol' Spidey and Marvel. Spider-Man is coming home! (well sort of). Lets Explain!

Earlier, Sony Pictures (who owns the screen rights to Spider-Man and Company) decided to partner up with Marvel Studios and bring Spider-Man to the famous Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This is gigantic news regarding big studios working together and bringing together something the fans always wanted. They announced he will show up Captain America: Civil War and then a new solo film on July 28, 2017 that will go back to high school years. This means recasting Spider-Man unfortunately.

We are still a little hurt that Andrew Garfield will be leaving the role because he was Peter Parker. Can Marvel and Sony cast someone better? We have been researching for them and have come up with a few choices that should get a look at by them when the time comes.

Check out the full list and even a Bonus person!

FOX Picked DC Comics' 'Lucifer' for Pilot Order

FOX will attempt to add another DC Comics property to their prime time lineup very soon. They have ordered a Pilot for 'Lucifer' after a long process of getting it ready.

Last fall, Fox did a "Put Pilot" on Lucifer, which means they would pay some penalties if it never got pass the scripting stage. The team behind the scenes is very talented and no strangers to drama action. Big time producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, will be executive producing with Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed.

Californication creator Tom Kapinos will script the pilot with Len Wiseman (Underworld, Sleepy Hollow) directing it.

That is pretty great team all around to bring this awesome comic series to life on screen. Although, we will hold reservations because of the direction they are going.

Hollywood Reporter says the premise will Lucifer "who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell and resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals."

That isn't really close to how the comic went but for television's sake and FOX turning things into a police procedural, lets hope it works. Lucifer is an amazing deep character who deserves more recognition but hopefully this won't go down the wrong road. More info to come!

First trailer for Hitman: Agent 47 hits Web

The Hitman franchise is a popular and once fantastic video game series that has recently taken a dip in quality but the movie adaptations have always lacked in every way. Can this movie be the redeeming factor to the terrible 2007 film?

My guess is no. Hitman was a series dedicated to being stealth and well thought out plans to kill the target. Of course, you could just go around killing people like this in the game and still beat it. I guess the writer Skip Woods (who also wrote the first one) did that when he played. How about going back and trying to play it the right way and write another movie with that kind of action? Maybe third time will be the charm for him. (Likely not).

Hopefully this movie will be better then the first movie and it already holds promise to it by the looks of it. Check out the trailer below!

What has happened to The Last Stand?

If you have been a pretty frequent visitor on The Last Stand over the last 7 years then you probably have been wondering what happened to it.

Well, the site started as a little project in high school with a few friends getting together to make a site dedicated to movie, game, and comic news by geeks for geeks. We started out very strong and grew steadily over the years to surpassing 100k in viewership. The team ended up with just me taking on everything and keeping the site going. So what happened to posting last year?

The main site has taken a backseat while I'm wanting to do a makeover from top to bottom. The site is still very much alive and going on Twitter. So make sure to follow us @the_last_stand.

College and work will limit me from always being on top of the news coming out posting on the site but I will do my best. Also, there will be more top list and editorials done along with returning reviews of movies.

If anyone is interested to writing for The Last Stand or helping remodel the site then email me!

Thank you for visiting and we want to gain your follow and keep it going for years to come.

Finals are over!!! Yes! Yes! Ye..oh wait back to working on a top-notch website dedicated to movie and comics news I guess. Yes that sounds good to me because tons of big things are happening right now in the universe revolving around those things. Today is good because we get first look at Zack Snyder's Batman and batmobile.

Director Zack Snyder tweeted yesterday a little teaser image of the batmobile under a tarp prepped to be unveiled today. Well we were in for a treat!

Marvel Studios the Biggest Movie Franchise Ever Now

This comes to no shock to anyone that watches movie ever. Marvel has officially became the highest grossing movie series in the domestic box office with over $2.46 billion in sales over 9 movies.

That surpasses Harry Potter (8 movies), Star Wars (6 movies), and James Bond (23 films) to be the top grossing franchise. That is pretty prestigious thing to get just with 9 movies.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently raising the number as it broke box office records for opening weekend. Also, with a list of movies coming out over the next couple of years, expect it to continue to rise above all others.

Ellen Page Cast As Robin in Batman Vs. Superman!!

This might come to shock to many people but they announced today that Ellen Page has been cast as the boy (girl?) -wonder in Batman Vs. Superman. They are really getting edgy in this whole film with Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex Luthor and Ben Affleck as the man himself, Batman.

The news was broke today in a press conference that had Page in attendance. She stated that "Robin has always been a character I loved in comics" and continued to say "I really wanted the part so bad and I went to Zack and told him my take on the character and he loved it,"  She went into detail about how she wanted the part over Kitty Pryde since the beginning but Nolan wouldn't have the character in his story. She thought she would seize the day with Snyder on board to direct it. Hey it seems to have worked!

Also she said some really intersting things at the end of it with a little comment about how she wants to "stay with the character for a long time even into her later age and BEYOND." Beyond as in Batman Beyond?? Say what!?!

More news to follow

Oh and April Fools!!!!! Don't believe a word of this because its not true. Except the Lex Luthor bit. I still can't believe thats true....early April Fools with that one, huh Warner Bros?? (elbow jab in ribs).

Now back to serious news for the day...

Watch Scene from Son of Batman Movie + Interview with Jason O'Mara

DC All Access released a video that includes a pretty funny interview with Batman himself, Jason O'Mara, and a exclusive clip from the Son of Batman animated movie. Also, stick around til end of video to get some pretty cool news from other DC comics interviews and news.

Son of Batman is based on Grant Morrison's storyline that introduced us to the anti-lovable son of Bruce Wayne, Damian Wayne. I personally love the little d-bag kid but thats just me (and like everyone else...but I ask myself why all the time...)

The cast of great voices include the return of Jason O'Mara as Batman, Morena Baccarin as Talia Al Ghul, Thomas Gibson as Deathstroke, and Giancarlo Esposito (Gus from Breaking Bad) as Ra's Al Ghul. That is quite the cast!

Son of Batman will hit Video (who says Video anymore) on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and Digital Download on May 6th.

Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer is Here and its Oddly Awesome!!

Our wait is over!! Marvel Unvieled the first full trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy on Jimmy Kimmel Live! a little bit ago and it's oddly awesome in every way. Nothing like previous Marvel movies.

I'm really impressed by this movie and I find myself wanting to see it even more now because of it. The humor is great and takes great hold on the tone of the film in just the 2 min trailer. Don't get me wrong, the humor will throw some off...ok probably a lot off...but we have to give it a chance, just like Marvel Studios did getting it made.

Batman vs. Superman Has Its Wonder Woman!

Warner Bros. has announced that actress/model Gal Gadot (Fast and Furious 6) has been cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film.

Director Zack Snyder stated: "Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."

This casting isn't a huge shock because the character has been rumored for the past couple of weeks to be making some sort of appearance in the film. Whether it be a short cameo or a full main character remains to be seen. My guess is a character that comes more into play later in film or next film , perhaps a solo film? ehhh

Gal does have the strong female lead qualities in her, but for Wonder Woman it isn't the worst casting but may not be the best cast. I will reserve my judgement until I see footage of her.

Batman vs Superman will have Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent facing off against Ben Affleck's Batman/Bruce Wayne. Expect the epiciness to hit screens on July 17, 2015.

Flashback Review: 'Superman: The Movie' (1978)

I bet you are wondering why I'm reviewing a movie that came out almost 40 years ago or maybe you are not. Superman is making his much deserved return into theaters this friday in 'Man of Steel' and I think its a perfect time to take a stroll down memory lane. Let's take a look how to the man in tights made his big movie debut in 1978 up to 2013.

Superman: The Movie was what I would consider the first superhero movie to be taken seriously and not campy with some big serious actors. They took a big chance on this film. The process of how this film came around his a whole post in itself, so lets skip all that and get to the movie itself.

I grew up watching this movie in the 90s on VHS. Oh good ol' VHS.., and now recently watching it on glorious Blu-ray, it only gets better and more fantastical. Superman was more of a hero that everyone just loved but wasn't really known to be adult orientated enough to be taken seriously to become a big star studded movie. Those people were greatly proven wrong by director Richard Donner. He made Superman, a great character already, a icon to all.

Superman was given a proper origin story that moved at a brisk pace that worked great on film. We were able to see Krypton dying with the great Marlon Brando. Then Kal-El getting found by Jon and Martha Kent. It was filmed perfectly to lay out the tone of the film with great special effects that can hold up today. We skip the Smallville years for the most part (just watch CW's Smallville to get gist of it), but we see some very important scenes that makes Superman, well, Superman.

The Daily Planet scenes just feel right. We finally get to see Christopher Reeve bring Clark Kent to life. He was hands down a dead on cast! If you were Growing up, through the 70's til now, Reeve is Clark Kent/Superman to you. He looks exactly like he came out of the pages of the comic. He put heart in the role and gave everyone a person to look up to that has lasted til today.

Superman wasn't the only great one cast either. The regulars in comics Lois Lane, Perry White, Jimmy Oslen, and especially arch-nemisis Lex Luthor, were fantastic! Margot Kidder as Lois Lane did a marvelous job at playing the hard headed reporter.

Lex Luthor on the other hand was possibly the second best casting in the film. Serious actor Gene Hackman took a character that was used so often in the comics and made him fresh. He was slightly funny and suave while completely evil. You hated to hate him but loved to hate him at same time. Luthor's plan to sink half of California for retail property is menacing and bat@#$% crazy at same time it might just work. Great job on bringing that character to the screen.

The director, Richard Donner, has an eye for great special effects throughout while maintaing a film about larger than life characters you can relate to. The subtle ways we see Superman save a person or fly through the air gives a smile on your face no matter the age. A superhero masterpiece to start off a generation of serious taken hero flicks.

New Full Trailer for Vin Diesel's 'Riddick' Looks Awesome!

Vin Diesel is a very complex man. He is huge and manly in every single way but he's also a huge nerd. He is a D&D Master since way back and has passion for sci-fi. Nothing proves that more than his Riddick Trilogy. This is his baby and I have to say with the budget raised independently with a pretty modest budget for a sic-fi epic of $38 million, it looks fantastic! I'm pleasantly surprised all around by this films look.

In the film, the infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.

Riddick hits theaters and IMAX on September 6th

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's 'The World's End' Trailer Arrives!

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are comedy duo gold. They always have been and always will be. They do their best work with fellow friend and director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz). They are now going to complete what they say is the final chapter of their stories together with a film called "The World's End". It looks hilarious and will likely be just that.

In "The World's End", a guy gets all his old friends back together to complete a pub crawl they weren't able to finish years ago. Well, things are quite different in their old hometown. Things go unexpectedly bad. scariness and hilarity are sure to come from that scenario. Just watch it and see for yourself.

The World's End opens in US on August 23

'Iron Man 3' Director Shane Black Signs on for 'Doc Savage'

Shane Black will stick around in the superhero realm for a little while longer now.

Sony announced today that Shane Black, who recently directed the hit Iron Man 3, will co-write and direct an adaptation of "Doc Savage", a film about on a pretty popular character from way back in the 30's and 40's.

Black has been hovering over this project for some time and has never fully attached himself to it until today. He has been really intrigued by the character and where he could take the man and his entourage.

No casting, release date, or anything really besides this as been announced. Check back soon!

Luke Evans Cast in The Crow Reboot!

Ok folks after months and I mean a whole lot of months of speculation and rumors on who will be portraying the unlucky Eric Draven in The Crow reboot has finally been cast! Luke Evans will fill the leather and makeup of The Crow. I will say this is actually a pretty great actor to take the role.

This reboot had a lot problems getting started with nobody getting locked down for the role. It was actually getting a big boost with having art of A-lister Bradley Cooper drawn in the role, this would likely have caused some problems with the die hard fans. It would make this film a little too mainstream and some films aren't meant for that. (this isn't one). That fell through, so we got rumors that X-Men star James McAvoy was in the running. While good idea, it wasn't meant to be. Then came my favorite choice of them all. Tom Hiddleston came into the mix with reports saying he wants to be it so bad. Well that was just internet blowing everything out of portion over a single meeting. You probably think I'm done listing off but your wrong. Last before casting was out there rumors of True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard, but those never became more than just that. So after I just explained to you the last year or so in rumors, you can see how hard it is in Hollywood.

First Trailer for Elysium is Amazing!

TriStar has released the first trailer for District 9 directors new film Elysium on Yahoo and I must say I'm geeking out like any other sci-fi fan out there. Neil Blomkamp knows his expertise is sci-fi and he has another film up his sleeve that is star powered (Matt Damon, Jodie Foster) and full of so much awesomeness.

In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined planet. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the crime and poverty that is now rampant throughout the land. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium's Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.

Here is the trailer for Elysium that hits theaters on August 9th

Rumor: Blank Panther May Show Up in 'Avengers 2' and Morris Chestnut is The Guy

Rumors over at the Marvel camp just keep coming and coming every single week it seems. Some have plausibility while others are straight out of left field. This weeks rumor is not that bad of idea when you think about it. The rumor is actor Morris Chestnut will be Black Panther at the end of The Avengers 2. I like the idea and actually fits very nicely into the universe to introduce some of the other countries heroes we never get to see. He is perfect of the role.

The actor, Morris Chestnut, tweeted earlier ""It's time to get familiar with the Black Panther character!". The tweet was than deleted. He felt he needed to keep from Marvel suing him for all his worth and children's names.

He added "Not final,"  "#BlackPanther may be in #avengers2 first. RT @jamaal91604133: @Morris_Chestnut Can't wait to see this movie. #BlackPanther"

Guess what then happened. You guessed it. It was deleted also. Marvel has stuck to their usual no commenting on rumors and said zip. We shall be left in dark for a while by the looks of it.

What do you think? Joke or real?

Trailer and Poster for 2 Guns released!

A lot of comic book adaptations come and go, with a few worthy of a good cast and story. 2 Guns is looking to be one of those movies coming out soon. The fantastic duo cast of Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, with the great story will for sure make this a must see.

For the past 12 months, DEA agent Bobby Trench (Washington) and U.S. naval intelligence officer Marcus Stigman (Wahlberg) have been reluctantly attached at the hip. Working undercover as members of a narcotics syndicate, each man distrusts his partner as much as the criminals they have both been tasked to take down.

When their attempt to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel and recover millions goes haywire, Trench and Stigman are suddenly disavowed by their superiors. Now that everyone wants them in jail or in the ground, the only person they can count on is the other. Unfortunately for their pursuers, when good guys spend years pretending to be bad, they pick up a few tricks along the way.

2 Guns shoots into theaters on August 2nd

That Veronica Mars Movie is Up to the Fans with Kickstarter!

Veronica Mars was a tv series on UPN that last only 3 seasons before ending in 2007. The series has a pretty big cult following and has only grown over the past 6 years of it being gone. How do they fix that? They will finally make a movie based on the series bringing everyone back! The only thing is it will only be done if the fans fund it though Kickstarter.

Series creator Rob Thomas has finally figured out that fans are the people who can make this thing happen and the Kickstarter is asking for 2 million dollars to finance a low-budget movie and Warner Bros. has agreed to pay for marketing and release cost for a first quarter 2014 release. Pretty sweet huh? I think so.

The incentives range from a personalized voicemail from cast to a speaking role in film! There are many more of them so check them out on the official page at Veronica Mars Kickstarter and make a donation.

It looks like all the publicity this thing is getting is working great! The project has only been live for not even a day and has passed the 1 Million mark! Holy bejeepers! Keep the money coming fans and we can get a pretty sweet movie out of this thing.

Once again here is the official Kickstarter page
