Marvel Studios the Biggest Movie Franchise Ever Now

This comes to no shock to anyone that watches movie ever. Marvel has officially became the highest grossing movie series in the domestic box office with over $2.46 billion in sales over 9 movies.

That surpasses Harry Potter (8 movies), Star Wars (6 movies), and James Bond (23 films) to be the top grossing franchise. That is pretty prestigious thing to get just with 9 movies.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently raising the number as it broke box office records for opening weekend. Also, with a list of movies coming out over the next couple of years, expect it to continue to rise above all others.

The long-awaited trailer for the last installment of the Harry Potter series has been released and it is actually pretty good looking.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, is the final adventure in the Harry Potter film series. The much-anticipated motion picture event is the second of two full-length parts. In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort. It all ends here.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Review

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 proves third time is the charm for director David Yates and it's the best in the series for that matter.

After the lackluster Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, most thought that director David Yates would end up ruining the epic ending to the beloved series. To the contrary, he made a film that would end up putting Harry Potter films three through six to shame and it’s arguably equal to greatness of the first two films. That is a very unbelievable feat.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is directed by David Yates and starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Ralph Fiennes, Bill Nighy, Alan Rickman, and Helena Bonham Carter.

Lord Voldemort's power is growing stronger by the minute. He now has control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione decide to finish Dumbledore's work and find the rest of the Horcruxes to defeat the Dark Lord by destroying them. But little hope remains for the Trio, and the rest of the Wizarding World, so everything they do must go as planned.

The film starts off with a bang with splendid action in the first ten minutes. Right from the start, it shows you a taste of the very dark elements that will come later in the film. Deathly Hallows  has some great scenes in the first forty minutes with action in beautiful locations. The action starts to become scarce around that time and the mood becomes an almost depressing state. The characters are now staying hidden in the forest for a long period of time. Average movie goers might find this time very slow and maybe even boring. If you are a fan of the books then you will likely appreciate the filmmakers actually putting the scenes in the film for as long as they are in the book.

The film shows an amazing change with the characters, along with the actors,  growing up into adults and living in the real gritty world. Now, they have no teachers to help them when trouble comes their way. They use all their knowledge of magic to their advantage through the entire film. So, if you thought that magic was going to be minimal, you are wrong. Along with the maturity they find out about romance. The film switches tones often from action to thriller to romantic stress. The most obvious romantic parts are the entire middle of the film with what seems like a never ending battle with themselves. It’s amazing to see what isolation will do to three friends. A very good point that comes out during that time is being heroes isn’t always uplifting, it could be filled with loneliness and desperation.

The special effects are without a doubt the best in the series. There is multiple scenes that show special effects are just fantastic and elegant. Some people would have trouble distinguishing what is real and what is hollywood magic.

The only trouble with the film is the being able to follow the story. If you have not seen the other six films and go to see Deathly Hallows then you will be able to understand very little. Don’t let that stop you because it is an all-around  great movie and just try to enjoy the high quality of the film.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 Trailer

The first trailer for the last chapter in the very popular book series Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 has been released with great music and great scenes. I haven't read the last couple books, but the trailer makes me want to read at least the last book.

The 7th book has been cut into 2 parts with Part 1 getting released on November 19, 2010 and Part 2 getting released on July 15, 2011. The seems like it will take forever for Part 2 to come out.

Official Synopsis

Part 1 begins as Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the secret to Voldemort's immortality and destruction—the Horcruxes. On their own, without the guidance of their professors or the protection of Professor Dumbledore, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever. But there are Dark Forces in their midst that threaten to tear them apart.

Meanwhile, the wizarding world has become a dangerous place for all enemies of the Dark Lord. The long-feared war has begun and Voldemort's Death Eaters seize control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting anyone who might oppose them. But the one prize they still seek is the one most valuable to Voldemort: Harry Potter. The Chosen One has become the hunted one as the Death Eaters search for Harry with orders to bring him to Voldemort... alive.

Harry's only hope is to find the Horcruxes before Voldemort finds him. But as he searches for clues, he uncovers an old and almost forgotten tale—the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend turns out to be true, it could give Voldemort the ultimate power he seeks.

Little does Harry know that his future has already been decided by his past when, on that fateful day, he became "the Boy Who Lived." No longer just a boy, Harry Potter is drawing ever closer to the task for which he has been preparing since the day he first stepped into Hogwarts: the ultimate battle with Voldemort.

Daily Movie News

Daily Movie News for Tuesday, January 26, 2010.

  • Actor Sam Worthington is being considered to play the legendary vampire Dracula in Universal's new film Dracula: Year Zero. Yes, I said it, Year Zero. That a horrible title for a cool synopsis. The plot is a period piece set in Transylvania in during the reign of Vlad the Impaler. Also, has a reported budget of over $100 million and director Alex Proyas (The Crow) is in talks to direct. Can't wait to see how this gets panned out.

  • Director Kevin Greutert (Saw VI) was hired by Paramount to direct Paranormal Activity 2, which would compete against Saw VII on October 22, 2010. Lionsgate decided to be smart and A-Holes at same time and dismiss Saw V director David Hackl  from Saw VII and use Greutert's contract to keep him. This just is a way to delay Paramount's release date for Paranormal Activity 2, so this means Saw would make more money.

  • Heat Vision is reporting that Clash of the Titans and the last two Harry Potter movies will be released to 3D. Warner Bros. hasn't commented on the news, but Clash of the Titans was moved back a week to April 2nd. Comment by Warner is most likely coming at end of week for Clash and Harry Potter to follow.

  • Director Michael Bay has been scouting locations for Transformers 3 in Chicago, Detroit, and Washington D.C. And he says the script is turning out way different then the last two films. Hopefully, that means more time spent on story, just a hope.

  • 30-year-old actor Jason Momoa (Stargate Atlantis) has been cast as Conan in Marcus Nispel's reinvention of Robert E. Howard's Conan. Also, an offer has been given to Mickey Rourke to play his father Corin. This could be intresting.

UPDATE!!!! New Moon beats Potter and Batman

Comingsoon.net is reporting that The Twilight Saga: New Moon set a new midnight opening record with $26.27 million from 3,514 theaters. This means that it surpassed the opening night of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ($22.2 million) and The Dark Knight (18.4 million). That means it will get close to pass the $67.2 million single day record of The Dark Knight.

UPDATE!!!!! New Moon beat The Dark Knight's single-day record of $67.2 million with $72.7 million.
The weekend gross of $158 million by The Dark Knight may get very close to being broken.
