Daily Movie News

Daily Movie News for Tuesday, January 26, 2010.

  • Actor Sam Worthington is being considered to play the legendary vampire Dracula in Universal's new film Dracula: Year Zero. Yes, I said it, Year Zero. That a horrible title for a cool synopsis. The plot is a period piece set in Transylvania in during the reign of Vlad the Impaler. Also, has a reported budget of over $100 million and director Alex Proyas (The Crow) is in talks to direct. Can't wait to see how this gets panned out.

  • Director Kevin Greutert (Saw VI) was hired by Paramount to direct Paranormal Activity 2, which would compete against Saw VII on October 22, 2010. Lionsgate decided to be smart and A-Holes at same time and dismiss Saw V director David Hackl  from Saw VII and use Greutert's contract to keep him. This just is a way to delay Paramount's release date for Paranormal Activity 2, so this means Saw would make more money.

  • Heat Vision is reporting that Clash of the Titans and the last two Harry Potter movies will be released to 3D. Warner Bros. hasn't commented on the news, but Clash of the Titans was moved back a week to April 2nd. Comment by Warner is most likely coming at end of week for Clash and Harry Potter to follow.

  • Director Michael Bay has been scouting locations for Transformers 3 in Chicago, Detroit, and Washington D.C. And he says the script is turning out way different then the last two films. Hopefully, that means more time spent on story, just a hope.

  • 30-year-old actor Jason Momoa (Stargate Atlantis) has been cast as Conan in Marcus Nispel's reinvention of Robert E. Howard's Conan. Also, an offer has been given to Mickey Rourke to play his father Corin. This could be intresting.
