Top 10 Worst Films of 2011

The end of the year is here and the Top 10 List must come out. Today's lucky list is… Worst films of 2011. This year is just full of blockbuster let downs and movies we knew where going to be terrible from the first trailer. Here is the infamous list you don't want to be seen on but want to see (not films on them though)

10. Transformers: Dark of  Moon

TF3 was actually not as bad as TF2 but it still makes the top 10 list. The acting in this movie was not good at all with Shia losing faith in the series (like us all) and bringing in a new love interest (below). Also, they brought in way too much comic-relief for their on good. The only thing this film had going for it was the FX and, while amazing, it lasted way too effin long. 3D was pretty good though. That isn't saying much either.

9. Cowboys & Aliens

Cowboys & Aliens shouldn't go together like eggs and ketchup shouldn't but to some people they do. Those people are the reason this movie was made. The idea was out there and sounded great if they could make them work. In Some ways it did by going serious route with this movie. If it was comedy, I wouldn't like even give this movie a fighting chance. The acting was just superb with the material they had but the story was just lacking in most places. The poor main guy lost both his hookers to the aliens. Damn. I had high hopes for this movie but it was a let down mostly.

8. Season of the Witch

The only reason this movie isn't number one on the list is because Nic Cage's long hair wig made me laugh enough for to become amusing to me. Nothing else to say really, just bad movie all around. Sorry Nic.

7. The Green Hornet

This movie just didn't have me at first then after a few trailers it interested me. After seeing it, it lost me for good. I thought it had a bad actor playing the main part, but great actors in supporting roles that may have even stolen the movie. The directing was really good and did it's part of making it good. The story then made it lose just everything it had going for it along with the acting.

6. Just Go With It

Adam Sandler is an actor who has people that adore him and people who hate everything he makes with passion. I am a fan for the most part. Mostly earlier roles. This movie just had nothing real to gain from the over-the-top theme and way it played out. This could have been prevented with 2 simple lies or telling the truth from the start. The only great thing about it was Nick Swardson and Jennifer Aniston. The plot is pretty simple and easily figured out by a 4 year old.

5. Battle: Los Angeles

Battle: LA is another movie on the list that had aliens involved with something unrelated to sic-fi. It had a better idea to go all Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down with aliens thrown in. It had amazing special effects and scenes. So why did this movie fail? The script and some acting. Just not having those will make any movie go down the drain. The dialogue was so bad it made me fall asleep almost. I think the writers watched every war film and stole every cliche it had or phrase with mediocre actors saying them this time.

4. Dream House

Dream House is likely the only film on the list to blasted by director and actors in it. The production company changed so much of the film that director Jim Sheridan wanted his named removed from it. That just says it all right there. The plot and acting had promise but was ruined not at their own accord, but producers. They cut the trailer to reveal the big plot twist and just from that gave up any chance it had of being scary because you knew it already. Daniel Craig did just fine with what he had to work with, even he has decided to not help the film and will not associate with it. Due to poor editing and choppy story this film fails.

3. Green lantern

Ryan Reynolds is my main reason for this placement. I love the guy, just not for this role. Hal Jordan is supposed to be a more serious grown-up man with sense. The film just lost it with a bad origin story that was lackluster in every way. I wanted to see the CGI suit work but it didn't. I wanted to see Ryan pull it off, he didn't. I wanted the action to be amazing and I'll just ask "what action?". I only hope DC gets their stuff together for future films and go serious not kiddie on it. Take some lessons from Marvel.

2. Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son

They had no reason in the world to make this movie or the second one for that. Big Mommas House was a great funny action film. They just had to ruin it with a third film that had a horrible tv comedy story. The producers knew it was going to be bad and just a cash cow. I think the actors knew too, but they tried to have the most fun they could with it. The role is over used too much and actors are trying to work but can't with bad production value and trying to glee it up with songs. It is hard to get through the whole movie with this stuff thrown together.

1. Sucker Punch

Oh the high hopes I had for this film. They were so high and I was letdown in the worst of ways. I love Zack Snyders work and just adored the thought of him making n original film. Boy was I wrong on every level. This film is atrocious from beginning to end. The story is so childish and I think he took everything a 12 yr old boy looks up on google and gave it to a 12 yr old to write. Cheap labor. The story plays out like a bad video game with clues and levels with bosses. After the second boss battle it becomes just ridicules and boring. The next best part was when the credits started rolling and I walked out. Although, the FX were amazing but that is it. Nothing else was good at all. Biggest letdown of 2011.

Dis-honarble mentions: I Am Number Four, Scream 4, Mr. Poppers Penguins, Beastly, and Dylan Dog.

Movies I suspect are horrible but haven't seen: The Smurfs, Alvin and Chipmunks 3, Monte Carlo, and Jack and Jill.

New Transformers: Dark Of The Moon Trailer

A new more detailed trailer for the third film in the Transformers series Transformers: Dark of the Moon has been released. The trailer basically just shows all the action and special effects that the previous movies have shown. I can't really say to much about the story just yet, but knowing how they other ones are, I will say it will suck.

Here is the first official synopsis: When a mysterious event from Earth’s past erupts into the present day it threatens to bring a war to Earth so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save us.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon will invaded theaters on July 1

Transformers: Dark of the Moon Poster

The poster for the 3rd Transformers movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon was released at 2010 Licensing International Expo and it shows absolutely nothing new. The poster just shows the same angle of Optimus Prime seen time and time again.

The trailer was supposed to be shown on Entertaiment Tonight, but that obviously didn't happen. We will have to wait to see attached with a movie soon enough or it will be online any day now.

Here is the boring poster, which isn't even a teaser poster

Transformers: Dark of the Moon will battle into theaters on July 1, 2010

Bumblebee Demolished On Transformers 3 Set

This is apprentaly not part of the movie. While filming an action scene, a D.C. SUV police vehicle turned on it's sirens and went flying through the set of Transformers: Dark of the Moon (Yes, the lame new title). I guess he really hated Bumblebee because he got rammed by the sweet camaro.

Just check out the video to see Bumblebee get demolished and covered up by the crew.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe Concept Art

Last week JoBlo.com got their hands on some cool concept art for the upcoming live-action film Voltron.

I can't wait to see a giant robot movie not to involve Michael Bay. Writers Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer are currently working on the script. They wrote the script for the upcoming film Conan also.

To be honest, I think they look a little like Transformers fighting the monster from Cloverfield.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe is set for a 2013 release

Here is concept art provided by JoBlo.com

Update: New piece of concept art has made its way online.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley confirmed for Transformers 3

It's official that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been cast as a lead female in Transformers 3. Director Michael Bay released the official word about the casting on his official website. The two have worked together on Bay's Victoria's Secret "A Thousand Faces" ad. The casting has basically been confirmed by many sources, even Victoria's Secret released a video congratulating her.

The Twins Won't be back for Transformers 3 or Will they?

Michael Bay announced on his official blog that the "Racist" Twins won't be in Transformers 3.  He posted a simple message "The Twins are not back in T3." Maybe this movie will turn out better than the second film.

*Update* Turns out there is pics from set that show two Chevy Sparks. Maybe the are the "Twins" or a new set of twins being racist against another race or religion. I hope this gets figured out so i can make more jokes on it.

Daily Movie News

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

  • Variety is reporting that New Line Cinema is looking to reboot the "Vacation" franchise and has hired John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein to write the screenplay. The film will be in the tone of Planes,Trains and Automobiles, not like the sequel films. Also, the film will focus on Rusty and his family in todays world.

  • The Losers is getting pushed back from April 9th to June 4th. This move doesn't make much sense to me because it will be released 1 week before The A-Team. I bring this up because The Losers is getting compared to The A-Team because of similarities. June will be a very big "Team" month, which isn't bad for fans of both.

  • Tyrese Gibson gave a teaser update on Transformers 3 with a Tweet stating "TRANSFORMERS 3: Is Full THrottle Full Steam Ahead..... Michael Bay gave me the start date.. And I can't share...". It sounds like everything is ready for production to start and hopefully it's better than Transformers 2.

  • There has been many rumors for a couple of months that Twilight: Breaking Dawn is to be made into 2 full length films in the nature of the last Harry Potter films. Well, Deadline Hollywood has reported that they will be split into 2 films and begin production in October, but the studio says the decision hasn't been made yet. In my opinion "who cares".

  • Vulture is reporting that the Hughes Brothers (The Book of Eli) are in talks to direct the live-action adaptation of Akira. The site also says that the studio is looking to make Akira in two parts; with the first being released next year. Yet another film being released into two movies. I kinda hate the idea of two movies.

  • Writer David Self gave updates on some of his films. RoboCop is in a holding pattern until MGM works out their troubles and it's not a sequel but a origin story, so it's another reboot. And the adaptation of Marvel's Deathlok is going nowhere for now to his knowledge.

  • New Line Cinema's remake of Escape From New York is finally moving forward because of a well received rewrite by Allan Loeb. Vulture says "Loeb nailed the humor in Plissken without slipping into camp, and he changed Snake's rescue-mission target from a president to a female senator, thereby upping the banter quotient". This could be interesting to see if they get a real American attached to star as the Snake Plissken.

  • Paramount Pictures announced that it is making Mission: Impossible IV and it will be released on Memorial Day Weekend 2011. Tom Cruise is returning as producer and star. Producer and director J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot Production are also producing it with Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are attached to pump out a script with an orginal idea by Cruise and Abrams. This could be pretty awesome or just let the series die.

Daily Movie News

Daily Movie News for Tuesday, January 26, 2010.

  • Actor Sam Worthington is being considered to play the legendary vampire Dracula in Universal's new film Dracula: Year Zero. Yes, I said it, Year Zero. That a horrible title for a cool synopsis. The plot is a period piece set in Transylvania in during the reign of Vlad the Impaler. Also, has a reported budget of over $100 million and director Alex Proyas (The Crow) is in talks to direct. Can't wait to see how this gets panned out.

  • Director Kevin Greutert (Saw VI) was hired by Paramount to direct Paranormal Activity 2, which would compete against Saw VII on October 22, 2010. Lionsgate decided to be smart and A-Holes at same time and dismiss Saw V director David Hackl  from Saw VII and use Greutert's contract to keep him. This just is a way to delay Paramount's release date for Paranormal Activity 2, so this means Saw would make more money.

  • Heat Vision is reporting that Clash of the Titans and the last two Harry Potter movies will be released to 3D. Warner Bros. hasn't commented on the news, but Clash of the Titans was moved back a week to April 2nd. Comment by Warner is most likely coming at end of week for Clash and Harry Potter to follow.

  • Director Michael Bay has been scouting locations for Transformers 3 in Chicago, Detroit, and Washington D.C. And he says the script is turning out way different then the last two films. Hopefully, that means more time spent on story, just a hope.

  • 30-year-old actor Jason Momoa (Stargate Atlantis) has been cast as Conan in Marcus Nispel's reinvention of Robert E. Howard's Conan. Also, an offer has been given to Mickey Rourke to play his father Corin. This could be intresting.
