Marvel Studios the Biggest Movie Franchise Ever Now

This comes to no shock to anyone that watches movie ever. Marvel has officially became the highest grossing movie series in the domestic box office with over $2.46 billion in sales over 9 movies.

That surpasses Harry Potter (8 movies), Star Wars (6 movies), and James Bond (23 films) to be the top grossing franchise. That is pretty prestigious thing to get just with 9 movies.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently raising the number as it broke box office records for opening weekend. Also, with a list of movies coming out over the next couple of years, expect it to continue to rise above all others.

Avatar Passes The Dark Knight

According to early reports, James Cameron's Avatar has passed Christopher Nolan's 2008 blockbuster The Dark Knight as the second highest grossing movie domestically. The Dark Knight had a total earning of $533 million in theaters and Avatar as just passed $553 million and still going. Also, Avatar's $36 million in its 6th weekend also set a record for a film's gross in it's 6th week of release. Avatar seems unstoppable, for now. Next up for major record breaking is beating James Cameron's last film Titanic. Titanic has had the record of highest grossing film of all-time for over 10 years and it seems reasonable that the director's other film should beat it. Look for Avatar to beat Titanic's $600.8 million sometime next month. Hollywood must really want to get their hands on James Cameron for future use. Cameron is king of the world (pun intended) of box office success.

I will update weekend box office later or tomorrow with international box office to see if cameron has passed Titanic as the highest grossing film globally (which it has most likely done)

Avatar Box Office

James Cameron's Avatar has passed $300 million mark in just 15 days with $308.8 million. That is just the domestic total and with the international total it will put the total around $800 million. The exact international numbers will be reported on Sunday. The film has already exceeded almost everybody's predictions for it's box office takings since opening with the biggest december box office ever. Avatar looks like it is on its way to beat Cameron's previous film Titanic as the highest grossing film of all-time. Only time will tell.
