New Images of Green Lantern in Full Suit

Finally, some a really good look at the full CG Green Lantern suit. I have said from the beginning that I'm not a fan of the idea to use CG animation for the suit instead of a real one. I guess I am a little less hesitant on the subject. I really want to see how it flows on screen and not a picture.

My only BIG complaint is the feet. They really didn't need to have his little toes showing. They should have put a boot-type look to it because it's kind of corny and creepy.

Green Lantern hits theaters on June 17th

Two more images after the jump. They show him in different poses.

Zach Galifiakanis Joining R.I.P.D.?

LA Times blog 24 Frames reported that Zach Galifiakanis is in-talks to join the cast of R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Department). If he does join the cast he will be a main character alongside Ryan Reynolds.

From Article: Galifianakis is in talks to play the co-lead in the film, according to two people with knowledge of the project who were not authorized to speak publicly about it. The movie is based on a popular Dark Horse comic about dead police officers patrolling the underworld.

Peter Lenkov created the comic -- the acronym stands for Rest In Peace Department -- which centers on the revenge sought by the recently murdered policeman Nick Cruz (Reynolds). Galifianakis would play another dead police officer.

Sounds like it would be cool to have two funny people play cops that are dead.

The production will likely start in the summer and release sometime next year.

R.I.P.D. will be released in 2012 (likely)

Green Lantern Trailer is Online

Warner Bros. released the trailer for the highly anticipated Green Lantern. The trailer shows a lot more than most would expect for a first trailer and it delivers everything. You get to see some very familiar faces from the Green Lantern Corps.

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

SDCC: Green Lantern Character Posters

Warner Bros. has released four character posters for the upcoming Dc Comics film Green Lantern. The poster are really cool because when you but them together they make the Green Lantern emblem.

They future looks at Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, first look at Mark Strong as Sinestro and Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond.

The posters show the famous Green Lantern oath "In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night. No Evil Shall Escape My Sight." That oath gives me chills.

Trailer of the Week -Paper Man

Trailer of the Week will go to a really good looking independent comedy/drama called Paper man. The film stars Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber), Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern), Emma Stone (Zombieland) and Lisa Kudrow (Friends).

An unlikely friendship between Richard (Daniels), a failed middle-aged novelist who has never quite grown up and Abby (Stone), a 17-year-old girl whose role in a family tragedy years earlier has stolen away her youth. Both are unsure, both are afraid to take firm steps forward, and both rely on the imaginary friends in their heads to help guide them into the future - for Richard, it is the costumed superhero Captain Excellent (Reynolds), and for Abby, it's morose fellow teenager Christopher (Culkin).

Daily Movie News

Thursday, February 25, 2010

  • Latino Review broke news yesterday that David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, FlashForward) is attached to write the next Superman movie. The movie is currently titled The Man of Steel. He is the only person attached it at the moment. Also, the story will involve Lex Luthor and Braniac and isn't a origin story. Superman himself Brandon Routh will not star and Brian Singer isn't expected to direct. That's awesome with Goyer writing, but it sucks without Routh as Superman.

  • Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Youth in Revolt) is going to star in a buddy supernatural/comedy called Miracle Workers. Zach will play a man posing as an exorcist with a pal. The buddies think they got it good until they are faced with a real menace. Sounds like it could be funny.

  • Mickey Rourke has officially signed on the Conan movie to play Conan's father. Also, MMA fighter Bob Sapp has signed on to play Ukafa. Filming starts on March 15th. This movie could be cool.

  • Writer Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2) is reportedly in talks to direct Zoolander 2. He will most likely to write it with Ben Stiller. No news on Owen Wilison returning, but Jonah Hill is in negotiations to play the villain. Zoolander was awesome and with Hill playing the villain this could be good or bad.

  • Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds have been cast to star in a 3D CG/comedy called The Croods. Dreamworks Animation has hired Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, how to Train Your Dragon) and Kirk DeMicco (Space Chimips) to write and direct the film. Cage is just selling himself to make back some money he loss.

  • Action movie star Bruce Willis announced that he his going to be working on two anticipated sequels next. He announced that they are going to make Die Hard 5 maybe sometime as close as next year and he will contribute in taking McClane worldwide. Also, Willis wants Live Free or Die Hard director zlen Wiseman to return. His other film is the sequel to the M. Night Shyamalan directed Unbreakable cleverly titled Unbreakable 2 (for now). He talked to Night over the holidays and they decided not to do a fight film between Willis and Jackson, but instead an origin story. He also stated he will return if Sam Jackson does. So I can't wait for both of these movies.
