Full Trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins Online Now!!!

Warner Bros. Games Montreal has released the full trailer for their prequel game Batman: Arkham Origins today! The footage shown is obviously not in-game footage but a beautiful cinematic trailer. It looks stunning and I would pay theater money to go see a Batman movie that looks like this thing. The game is considered a prequel because it takes place before the first two Arkham games and is when Batman first came around.

Also, They announced that voice of Batman to all, Kevin Conroy, will be returning to voice Bruce Wayne/Batman. Also, Superherohype announced that Deathstroke will be a playable character *say whaaaa*. That will be awesome!

Developed by  Warner Bros. Games Montreal, Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline occurring several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City's most dangerous villains and assassins, the game showcases a young, raw, unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, witness identities being formed and key relationships being forged.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be available on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U on October 25th

Here is the trailer we all will enjoy

Netflix on PS3 Going Disc-Less

According to Netflix, by the end of October, they will cease to use the disc used to stream movies to the playstation 3.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said this statement:
"Before our next call in October, we expect to be launching a major new version of our Sony PS3 user interface which doesn't require a disc and is dynamically updated continuously with the latest Netflix UI improvements," Hastings said.
A disc-less Netflix application seems like much less of a hassle then having to switch out a disc to stream movies.  I still don't think I'll be getting this, I think I'll just stick to Redbox.

New Playstation Move Bundle

Sony has finally unveiled their new Playstation 3 bundle for the Playstation Move.  Back at Sony's press conference this year at E3, they revealed that they would be releasing two Playstation Move bundles.

These bundles include one with the Playstation 3 console that comes with the Eye and Move controller together and a game included (as seen above) all for just $399.99.  The other comes with just the Playstation Eye, Move controller, and a game (as seen below) for only $99.99.

Of course, if you already own a PS3 console, as well as the Playstation Eye, you could always just purchase the Playstation Move controller (as seen below), which is currently set at $49.99.

The closer the Move is to being released, the more and more I want it.  It looks like it could be a lot of fun, as well as a cool way to play more hardcore games.  The Move also looks like it can show a lot of creativity.  I'll probably be picking up the Starter Pack with the Eye and Move controller.

The PS3 Goes White

New models of the Playstation 3 were recently announced that will come in a classic white color with increased HDD options.

These new models will be available only in Japan at first, then possibly in North America and Europe.  Japan will first stop making all current 120GB and 250GB models to pave way for the new 160GB and 320GB versions.  Both Versions will be available in the original black and the new classic white colors.  If released in America, the 160GB model will cost roughly $340 and the 320GB version will be around $400.  SCEA had this to say about an American release.
"We'll consider every possibility based on the market demands, but have nothing to announce at this point in time."
I think this new white color is pretty cool looking and I think maybe a silver would also look cool.  It's weird how the Wii and the 360 have now gone glossy black like the old Playstation 3 and this new PS3 is white like the older Xbox.

Gran Turismo 5 finally has a release date and with it brings you an awesome Collector's Edition.  GT 5 is set for release on November 2, 2010.  The super cool CE will be available at launch for only $99.

That whole 99 bucks will get you the game, a 1:43 scale model by Kyosho of a 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V, a 300-page "car-lover's guide", keychain, 5 downloadable bonus cars and a pretty cool looking box.

Even though $99 is kinda pricey, that model is super cool and everyone's been waiting for this game to finally be released.  So look out for Gran Turismo 5 on shelves November 2nd to experience the best racer in all new 3D and with the Move.

Portal 2 Coming To PS3

Gabe Newell of Valve announced that their masterpiece Portal 2 will be available on the Playstation 3 the same day as 360 and PC.  The PS3 version of the game will be Steamworks enabled which will include community support features such as chat.  Newell then went on to say that the new features on the Playstation 3 version of Portal 2 will make it "the best version on any console".

Here check out the debut trailer below.

You Monster Trailer:

There was no released date announced, but it was assured that it will be out sometime in 2011.

This came as a surprise considering Gabe Newells negative comments toward the PS3 like saying "a total disaster on so many levels".

Playstation Plus Details

Looks like the rumors were true and Sony will be offering a premium subscription plan for the Playstation Network.  This "premium" service will not replace the already free service, but give subscribers an enhanced experience that will include exclusive content such as demos, themes, multiplayer content, and free Playstation Network games for only $49.99 a year.

Jack Tretton also announced that there will be a 3 month subscription for only $17.99.  That's pretty good considering that subscribers are said to get "hundreds of dollars" in free content and discounts on the Playstation Store.

Tretton said that the first three months of the service will come free for a limited time to all subscribers.

Playstation Plus premium service sounds like a great deal a must have for any Playstation Network fanatic.  I'll be checking it out as soon as it launches and I'll update you with the details and feedback.

The New Xbox 360 In Detail

It looks like the rumors are true, there is a new Xbox 360 and might I say, It has Playstation 3 written all over it.  The new 250GB Xbox 360 is much smaller and sleeker than the previous model with a black look and glossy finish, which is also equipped with built in 802.11n Wi-Fi.  This smaller model is said to have one large fan instead of two small fans for quieter operation.

Here is a list of all the specs of the new system:

  • Touch Sensitive Buttons - turn the Xbox 360 on or off and eject a disc with the swipe of a finger
  • Whisper Quiet - Whether you're playing a DVD disc or from the hard drive or navigating the dashboard, with the all-new and much quieter Xbox 360, the only noise you'll hear is your own laughing, cheering and playing
  • Wi-Fi - Built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi for fast, easy connection to your friends and entertainment on Xbox LIVE.
  • Hard Drive - 250GB internal, swappable hard drive for even more storage. To access, remove the bottom panel by pushing the small tab toward the front of the console.
  • Kinect-ready - Custom Kinect port on the back of the console that directly hooks up to the Kinect sensor for controller-free fun.
  • USB Slots - Five USB ports, three in the back and two in the front.
  • Power Supply - Smaller and more efficient. Xbox 360 250GB and Xbox 360 Original power supplies are not interchangeable.
  • Wireless Controller - The award-winning Xbox 360 Wireless Controller matches the console in all black with color-matched thumbsticks and directional pad with a touch of gloss and chrome to complete the look.
  • Backward Compatible - Your favorite accessories and games will work with Xbox 360 250GB. Xbox 360 external hard drives and Memory Units are not compatible.

The Xbox 360 will be priced the same as the current 360 at $300 and is already being shipped to retailers today. Here are some detailed pictures you can check out to give you satisfaction.

Now here is what I think.  Microsoft was clearly aiming for a more PS3 like Xbox.  Even this was said by a Microsoft rep., "as quiet as a PS3" when describing Whisper Quiet. I think this is a total rip-off of the original Playstation 3 and here is my reasons why:
  • The piano black and glossy look is almost identical to the Playstation 3
  • The touch sensitive buttons are also straight from the PS3
  • The built-in wi-fi, but that had to come sooner or later
  • Even the HDD slot is practically identical
But they just can't quite get the blu-ray drive down yet, but I'm sure one day they'll just take a PS3 and write their logo on it.

I'll keep you updated on all news E3.  Seeya then.

500GB PS3 with Faster Wi-Fi and The Move

According to game site CVG, Sony will be releasing two new PS3 bundles that will both include a Playstation Move motion controllers and one will have a massive 500GB HDD.

Sony revealed earlier this year that they would be releasing a Move bundle which include a 250 GB hard drive and the Move itself.  What they didn't say was that they were releasing a 500GB.

That's a lot of memory that will most likely never be filled...unless Sony expects you too.

It's also said that these new PS3's will be new models containing faster 802.11n wireless for faster Wi-Fi speeds.  Earlier this year, the FCC were seen testing two new Playstation 3 models.

If the rumors are fact or fiction, I'll keep you posted.

New Mortal Kombat On It's Way

There is a new Mortal Kombat on it's way and it's bringing back fatalities.

Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment just announced that the legendary fighting franchise is back and returning to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2011 in a classic 2D playing style.

The company says that the game will include extensive online play, a "tag-team" game option that supports up to four players in two-person teams and "the deepest story mode of any fighting game." The game will also support classic 1 vs. 1 combat.

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon is overseeing the project, which is being developed at the new NetherRealm Studios in Chicago. "This game really is a response to what players have been demanding," Boon said in a press release, "mature presentation, reinvented 2D fighting mechanic and the best, most gruesome fatalities ever!" There was also a brand-new game engine created for it.

Here is a look at the new Mortal Kombat below. Check it out

PS3 Goes 3D

The Playstation 3 has now entered the realm of 3D and is bringing some of it's best titles with it.  As of now, PS3 owners with a 3D TV and glasses can play Super Stardust HD, WipEout HD, Pain, and the demo version of Motorstorm: Pacific Rift in stunning, eye popping stereoscopic 3D.

Games such as Gran Turismo 5 and MLB: 10 The Show are already being shown in 3D, but don't have a set release date.  Some of the biggest Playstation 3 games will be available in 3D later this year.  Expect to see more and more games coming to 3D at E3 2010 as the technology unfolds and is integrated into our consoles.

With Sony and Nintendo already making they're way to 3D, you may wonder where Microsoft stands. Well, it is rumored that Microsoft will be stepping into the world of 3D at E3 next week.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I've been gone for a while and now that summer has come around and I have a lot more free time, expect to see me more frequently around here.  "Stay Classy San Diego".

The Playstation Move

Today at GDC 2010, Sony finally announced the name for their new motion-control peripheral, the Playstation Move.  The Move is set to release later this year sometime in the fall in three options:  individually, bundled with a Playstation Eye camera, or bundled with the camera and a Playstation 3 console.

We had first seen it at Gamescon back in September, but Sony never actuall released any official press shots of the Move, until now.  The photos give a close look at the wand and the "nun-chuck" accessory, as well as the color that the illuminating ball atop the controller will glow.

I'm not sure if I love the Move, but I definitely don't hate it.  Even though I think the idea of motion controls are overrated and are just a desperate attempt to reach a broader audience, the Playstation Move could actually fun and appeal to more hardcore gamers.

Check out the official photos below and write what you think in the comments section.

The Game Zone

  • The idea of a subscription based Call of Duty games is sounding more and more likely. President and CEO of Activision Bobby Kotick says "If you think about the success that we've had in other product categories on subscription, you can get a sense of the direction that we want to take that franchise." President and CEO of Activision Publishing says that they have been looking into new business models for the series.

  • The game Darkest of Days, even though it got terrible reviews, is going to the big screen. It is said that the writers from The Rock are attached to create the screenplay. Even though the game didn't do so well, I think it's is a neat concept for time traveling soldiers to go back in time to change the outcomes of war. I don't know how good this will be, but we'll have to wait and see.

  • Today, a representative from TimeGate confirmed that a PS3 version of Section 8 is scheduled for release, but does not have a specific ship date. Section 8 was originally announced as a multiplatform game for the Xbox 360, PC, and Playstation 3, but a PS3 version was never shipped with the others back in September.

  • Jack Tretton, President and CEO of SCEA, announced today that Uncharted 2: has sold close to three million units worldwide. He wrote, "Games like Uncharted 2: Among Thieves are surpassing our lofty expectations as it outsold the franchise's first PS3 game and is now closing in on three million copies sold worldwide."

  • Finally Dead Rising 2 has landed a release date on August 31st. While waiting to get your fix on slaughtering of zombies in Dead Rising 2, you will be able to download a playable prologue to the game on Xbox Live sometime in the short future

Close To 4 Million PS3's Sold Over Christmas

Earlier today, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, CEO of SCE Kaz Hirai revealed some pretty impressive console sales numbers for the Playstation 3 over this holiday season.

According to Sony, 3.8 million PS3's were sold worldwide from the end of November to the new year, with 1.7 million being in the US alone. The company says that it's a 76% increase in sales from 2008's holiday season figures.

According to VGChartz, Sony is slowly catching up to Microsoft in hardware sales. The PS3 has now sold 31 million consoles while the Xbox 360 has sold 36 million. That's really good for Sony considering the fact that the Xbox 360 was released 18 months before the playstation 3. To check out other hardware sales or even software sales, take a look at http://www.vgchartz.com/.

PS3 Is The Best Gaming Platform Of 2009

Review monster Metacritic has released a list of the top games and consoles of 2009 with the Playstation 3 landing in 1st place on the Game Platform Power Ranking.

The Game Platform Power Ranking includes the average review score of games across the platforms and accounts for the games scoring a 90 or higher when they judge the winner.

Next to the PS3 is PC, which had a better median metascore, but not as many good to bad game ratio. In third was Xbox 360 and fourth was the PSP.

The PS3 wasn't just the winner of the Game Platform Power Rankings, but it also has the top three best reviewed games. Those games are Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Street Fighter IV.

It's about time Sony came out shining and getting the respect they deserve. Keep up the good work Sony.

MAG Box Art

Today, Zipper Interactive released the massive action filled box art for MAG, the first-person shooter with the possibility of a 256 player online match. MAG is only in it's private beta and it has already racked over 18 million kills. So far, it's looking like it's going to be a really big hit among PS3 owners. MAG is set to release on January 26th next year. I can't wait to pick this game up and play with all my friends.
