SDCC: Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is the new video game that gives you the chance to step into the boots of Hal Jordan and wield the most powerful weapon in the universe; the Green Lantern power ring. Rise of the Manhunters is being developed by Double Helix Games and will be published by Warners Bros. Interactive and is set for release sometime in June of 2011.

It's not clear whether or not the games story line will coincide with that of the upcoming feature film or arc off in another direction.  Little information was released about the game, also it wasn't specified if Ryan Reynolds will be voicing Hal either.

Senior Vice President of Production and Development at Warner Bros. Interactive further enlightened us on what the game will be about.  Check out her statement.

“In the videogame players will utilize over a dozen constructs and take flight across the deepest parts of the Universe to restore intergalactic order.  Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters gives players the chance to experience the world of the Green Lantern mythology in an interactive way, going beyond the events of the film and comic books.  The game is the first to center around DC Comics’ Green Lantern franchise and we’re excited to give fans the opportunity to experience the power of the ring with engaging gameplay.”
I think it will be cool to control Jordan and use the power ring to defeat your enemies. You can just imagine the variations of weapons and objects the ring can form into to help with a successful mission.

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters will be released on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS.

Looking back at Double Helix's most recent games, it makes me question question how good Rise of the Manhunters will actually be.  G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra wasn't the best game on the market by a long shot and Silent Hill: Homecoming received mixed reviews.  I guess we'll just have to wait for Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters to hit stores to uncover the outcome.  I'm really looking forward to the Green Lantern movie and I can only hope that Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is just as good as I hope the movie will be
