"From the streets of Chicago to the far-flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” tells the story of Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), who was born under a night sky, with signs predicting she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos."

Drew Goddard Will Direct, Write, and Everything Else on Daredevil Netflix Series
Drew Goddard has been confirmed to be showrunner for the Netflix series of the blind lawyer from Hells Kitchen. He will write and direct the first episode and remain with the series until the end. I like the commitment here.
The 13 episode series will air in 2015 and be followed by 3 other series on Netflix featuring Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist.

Teaser Trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is Here
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer shows us a lot more than I thought it would. It plays on the whole having 3 villains thing a lot. Also a shot that looks like a mid-credit scene too!
It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.
Trailer and Still of little easter egg after jump!
Bryan Singer Announces X-Men: Apocalypse for 2016
Bryan Singer is king of X-Men movies and with good reason. He has started the series off with great characters and a realism factor that hasn't been seen with Superhero movies. So to further the great stuff he does with the franchise, he announced that a new X-Men film will be released in 2016 via twitter.
He said on twitter "X-Men: Apocalypse” would arrive in 2016." That raises a lot more questions than just when it will be released in 2016!
Fox came back later and gave more info on the project. When I say a more info, I mean just release date... Memorial Day weekend on May 27, 2016. That's not too far away!
The questions that is raises is: Is it based on a crazy epic 90s storyline? The storyline revolved around the first mutant, Apocalypse, who wanted to become the conquerer of the world and more. Now things start to make more sense when you take in consideration that this storyline is based around time travel and an alternate reality.
In this reality Professor X is murdered before he could form the X-Men. So in a turn of events, Mageneto makes a group of mutants and leads them through a post apocalyptic America. Things get pretty cray cray up in there. (Yes, I just said that in a sentence).
More news to come!
Batman vs. Superman Has Its Wonder Woman!
Warner Bros. has announced that actress/model Gal Gadot (Fast and Furious 6) has been cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film.
Director Zack Snyder stated: "Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."
This casting isn't a huge shock because the character has been rumored for the past couple of weeks to be making some sort of appearance in the film. Whether it be a short cameo or a full main character remains to be seen. My guess is a character that comes more into play later in film or next film , perhaps a solo film? ehhh
Gal does have the strong female lead qualities in her, but for Wonder Woman it isn't the worst casting but may not be the best cast. I will reserve my judgement until I see footage of her.
Batman vs Superman will have Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent facing off against Ben Affleck's Batman/Bruce Wayne. Expect the epiciness to hit screens on July 17, 2015.

R.I.P. Paul Walker Dead at 40
This happened yesterday but we felt we should give our condolences here at TLS to actor Paul Walker, who passed away on November 30th at the age of 40.
Paul Walker has been a staple of action films since starring in the racing movie The Fast and the Furious with Vin Diesel. The film has garnered 5 sequels with one to come next year. Although, he has been known to audiences for other roles before that including Varsity Blues, The Skulls, and She's All That and many more.
The production of Fast 7 has taken an extended break in the wake of the tragedy. They will evaluate what to do in the story that will give the film a respectful send off for Walker. No news on what will be changed or how much of his scenes were filmed so far. More news to come on the subject.
You can soon see Paul Walker in the drama film Hours hitting theaters later this month.

Pretty Awesome: Doctor Who: The Night of The Doctor Mini-Episode
Ok people as I have said in past, I'm not a big Doctor Who fan but I do enjoy the devotion of its fans and the originality of the series. I have recently started to watch them more and get into it before the 50th anniversary special. I'm getting there.
The 50th Anniversary special has been saying that a mysterious doctor show up played by John Hurt. Well, this pretty sweet little webisode type thing is connecting the caps and getting the mystery sort of solved. We see the return of the 8th Doctor Paul McGann to much appraise. He is fantastic in it and I actually want to see a series revolving around him. Just check it out below and keep watching til the very end. Nice little surprise.

First Captain America: The Winter Soldier Trailer is Pretty Epic!
Finally the trailer for Captain America: The Winter Solider is online and its pretty epic! I wasn't really expecting the step-up from Cap but I was proven wrong. Check out the trailer below to see Captain A in kick ass mode.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick-up where Marvel's The Avengers left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

Man Literally Attacks Michael Bay with AC Unit On Transformers 4 Set!
This is one of those stories that just sounds so crazy it must be true. There was reports and rumors spreading earlier that someone tried to take the infamous director Michael Bay out with an air-conditioner unit!? Turns out its true!
I know there are times where we watch Transformers and think you just want to do (insert crazy dangeorus act) to Michael Bay, but thats just for show people. No need to actually attack the man...(physically that is, I would take you down Bay mentally! Booyah).
Bay decided to write on his website a write up on the whole thing to explain it in his words:
“Yes, the story is being passed around is not all true! Yes, some drugged up guys were being belligerent asses to my crew for hours in the morning of our first shoot day in Hong Kong. One guy rolled metal carts into some of my actors trying to shake us down for thousands of dollars to not play his loud music or hit us with bricks.
Every vendor where we shot got paid a fair price for our inconvenience, but he wanted four times that amount. I personally told this man and his friends to forget it we were not going to let him extort us. He didn’t like that answer. So an hour later he came by my crew as we were shooting, carrying a long air conditioner unit. He walked right up to me and tried to smack my face, but I ducked threw the air unit on the floor and pushed him away. That’s when the security jumped on him. But it took seven big guys to subdue him. It was like a Zombie in Brad Pitt’s movie World War Z—he lifted seven guys up and tried to bite them. He actually bit into one of the guards Nike shoe, insane. Thank god it was an Air Max, the bubble popped, but the toe was saved.
Then it took fifteen Hong Kong cops in riot gear to deal with these punks. In all, four guys were arrested for assaulting the officers.
After that, we had a great day shooting here in Hong Kong.”
Pretty crazy day in the life of Michael Bay. I can't wait to here what will happen next.

Gravity Review
There is always one movie that comes out that changes the game, Gravity has accomplished that very feat. No film has quite captured the sense of wonder and fear of space as perfect as Gravity has with a story only fully understood on the big screen in 3D. Yes I did just say see it in 3D, preferably IMAX 3D (Well worth price!)
Gravity is basically about a Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock), a engineer on her very first mission in space, alongside a veteran astronaut on his last ride to the stars, Matt Kowalski (George Clooney), fighting for survival after debris from a Russian Satellite destroyed the space shuttle. This is much more than the drifting off in space film that so many people assumed. It is one hell of a white-knuckle ride from start to finish.
I walked into this film expecting to be stunned visually, I was not prepared for what I was about to see. In the history of cinema there has never been a film to capture the beauty of space and earth on the basic levels they are until now. This will likely be the closest I will ever get to being in space truly. You get so drawn in the film in the very first minute that you feel like you are there on the Hubble and Challenger with the astronauts. I was speechless at the pure wonder I was witnessing as Dr. Stone worked on the Hubble Telescope and Kowalski flew around on the jet pack.
Director Alfonso Cuaron knows extended sequences better than almost any other director. He utilizes the format to not only push the limits of imagination, but the feeling of being part of the movie and not just watching it. The opening sequence was perfectly executed with nearly 20 minutes of extended awesomeness. Now that isn't the only area of the film that has it, but Cuaron picked the most precious moments to do this to show the compelling story visually and story wise.
The 3D and CGI is flawless from start to finish. I'm usually a hater of 3D in movies ever since the resurgence of it a few years ago with a few exceptions. The biggest one being Avatar. That movie just blew my mind with the Jungle sequences because I was drawn into the world instead of drawn out. Many have tried to harness the power of 3D but fail miserably, but Cuaron has found that perfect sanction between when 3D is used to develop layers to story and just to freak you out.
The CGI universe (also actual world) developed in this film was breathtaking. More often than not, I felt like they actually filmed this in space. I was getting lost in this universe created and that is what movies are all about essentially. You can't have this beautiful environment without stunning sound.
The music and sound of this film will blow everyones mind because of its sheer realism. In Space there is no sound. We are hearing what the astronauts are hearing through vibrations in what they touch. The music is so touching and goes to heart pounding beautifulness when we are along for the ride of Dr. Stone. In an area of the universe where there is no sound, they did one hell of a job to making it one of the best sounding movies all time. Hearing just Sandra Bullock and George Clooney talk throughout was great in itself because of the great chemistry between the two.
A movie with just 2 people in space for 90 minutes, you better have a great cast to carry it. I must say the two leads were fantastically cast with the worried, greenhorn Sandra Bullock, and the charismatic seasoned George Clooney. They are like polar opposites but you can feel the connection they have as they fight for survival. I can see Oscars in these stars future because of this film. Sandra Bullock emotion throughout was just unbelievable. You feel her hurting, loneliness, and perseverance.
Gravity pulled all the emotional strings with the heart pounding, white knuckle fight for survival in a land of great unknown wonders and sheer beauty. This film sparked an emotion of fear and wonder of a place I haven't though out about like that since I was a little kid. The hypnotic sight of space has fully been captured on film finally, along with the unparralled beauty of Earth. This film will take you on a ride you will never forget. My sense of wonder has been reinstalled.
Side Note: Must see in IMAX 3D where available because it is breathtaking and well worth it!
A+

First RoboCop Trailer is Awesome!
Columbia Pictures and MGM have just unveiled the pretty sweet trailer to the much hyped remake film RoboCop directed by Jose Padilha. I had my doubts about remaking the film from the start but now seeing some footage it has eased most of my doubts. I only hope they get the subtle satire undertones from the original one.
Official Synopsis from SuperheroHype "In the film, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex's life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before."

Casting: Bradley Cooper Cast as Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy
Marvel is stepping it up with the casting this week! First James Spader and now the much hyped Rocket Raccoon cast is finally finished. Pretty boy Bradley Cooper has been chosen to take on the very humorous Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy. I have to say, I'm pretty pleased with the choice and he was on my top 6 list (where at on it? that doesn't matter).
Guardians of the Galaxy will hit theaters on August 1, 2014. Less than a year!
Do you think he could pull it off? Who would you chose?

James Spader Cast as Ultron in Avengers 2!
James Spader is best known for being Alan Shore on Boston Legal and The Practice. Couldn't tell you anything about those shows because I'm not realllly sure that I have the right shows in my head. Boston Legal or The West Wing hmmm…never mind..political shows aren't my thing. Although, We geeks know him best as Dr. Dan Jackson from Stargate! Ya!
Ultron is going to be a big villain for the team of returning members and new members of The Avengers. It is a little fuzzy on how Ultron is going to be made without Dr. Hank Pym creating him, since, he won't really get introduced until Phase 3. Only time will tell..

6 Reasons Ben Affleck Can Rock Batman
We Were Wrong In the Past
This will be just about everyone's main point of defense for the casting choice. It is also one of the best in almost any case. When Michael Keaton was cast as the Dark Knight himself as well, we freaked out because we couldn't fathom Mr. Mom being Bruce Wayne, let alone, a dark figure like Batman. It turned out amazing and he is still one of the best guys to wear the cowl. He wasn't the only one either. Quite possibly the best villain of all-time, the Joker, got a aussie romance movie guy cast as him. That turned out to be one of the best casting decisions in recent memory, if not history. He got an academy award for it even!
It's Not the Same Ben From 10 Years Ago
He Has Been Here Before
He Will Bring More to Table Than Just Looks
He Looks the Part Perfectly
Ben Affleck was chosen for more than his A-list name. He looks the part of a seasoned Bruce Wayne billionaire playboy and could pull off the The Dark Knight body-type and look. That jawline was made for a superhero mask. He is working out 2 hours a day for the part . So no doubt he will have the current Batman body-type that is popular in comics. I can see the Bruce Wayne part being fantastic but the Batman part is going to be a little hard to picture until I see some footage. He should have learned by now what made his Daredevil not that great.
Ben Affleck has caused quite a stir and revolt from Batfans over the weekend. I have to keep a more open mind about things because you can't just a character based on previous work. He isn't Uwe Boll! (fellow Boll haters know what i'm talking about.) I do think there could have been possibly better choices but there could be so many worse choices as well.
What is your thoughts?

Garth Ennis In "Early Stages" Of A Brand New 'Punisher' Mini-Series!
The Punisher is what got me into comics in the first place. The 2004 film with Thomas Jane drew me down to the local comic shop to get some issues. Fortunately Garth Ennis was doing the Punisher MAX series that was sooo amazing at the time, I literally have every issue. Great violent gritty real world series. Especially for a 13 year old right!? My parents were very protective of me. They were strict enough to let me go to sleep every night when I was 5 watching The Terminator 2. I know very protective but hey what can you do?
In a recent interview with comiXologist podcast, he stated "I will be starting work on another 'Punisher' miniseries quite soon, that'll probably come out sometime next year," Ennis said on the podcast. "That's at the very early stages."
I love that news so much! My favorite Punisher writer coming back to visit a character he added so much to and has been away from so much.
Are you excited as I am? I know you are!
Mark Millar Says X-Men and Fantastic Four will Share Same Universe
Shared Universes have been on the rise with superhero films. Marvel got it right and now DC wants in with Batman Vs. Superman. Well another wants into the trend. 20th Century Fox owns the rights to Marvel properties including The Fantastic Four and X-Men. 20th Century's Marvel Consultant Mark Millar seems to think a crossover will happen very soon.
In a recent interview with SFX, he stated when asked if they will be crossing over at any point
“Without question I think you have to see some of these guys showing up in each other’s movies. I think the most exciting thing in superhero movies, until The Avengers came along, was when Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man. Even though it was a guy with an eye patch it was really cool – and I expect we will see more of that.”
Now honestly do they need to crossover? Not for sometime in they to be at all. X-Men has a vast cast of characters already and it grows with each film. Where does The Thing fit in? I guess I should leave that up to Mark Millar. He's good with those kinds of things.
Still very exciting to maybe one day see two great teams cross paths. Lets still hope for a big meeting between all of them and Marvel properties.

TNT Releases First Trailer for Frank Darabont's MOB CITY
TNT finally released a trailer for Mob City (previously LA Noir) and I must say it looks amazing!
Showrunner Frank Darabont decided this was a great series to back after leaving The Walking Dead and taking a few stars along with him. By the looks of the trailer this was a great casting choice in Jon Bernthal as the main character.
Check out this very stylized trailer along with a cool look at Simon Pegg doing an american accent pretty darn good! I know I'm surprised too don't worry.

Pick & Pull: July 31, 2013 - 3 Guns, Batman, Collider + More!
It's the return of the much loved weekly editorial for best comics to check out this week! Pick & Pull is back and just in time to see some great things in the making. This week we have Neil Gaiman joining Marvel in a way, 3 Guns is better than 2, and it's getting dark in here.
3 Guns #1 (of 6) - This is a sequel to 2 Guns (catchy title really). This time around they throw in a girl for you know more jokes and battles between each other. Looks pretty promising to be fun and action packed.
Batman Annual #2 - The first annual was pretty emotional with Mr. Freeze getting sweet and touching origins. So it's only natural to pick up the 2nd issue and see where we will go. This team has never really let us down in the emotional, action, or drama side of things.
Captain Midnight #1 - This is really part of the trend by Dark Horse to bring older characters back to life, but with Joshua Williams behind it, I have to pick it up!
Guardians of the Galaxy #5 - They are bringing one of Neil Gaiman's characters into the Marvel universe in a big way and it all starts here. Check out Angela in this issue!
Sheltered: A Pre-Apocalyptic Tale #1 - The title is just the cool strange part of it!
Collider #1 - This one snuck up on me and sounded so intriguing to sic-fi reader in me. It's like a mixture of Fringe and other sci-fi goodies.

Newcomer Taron Egerton In Talks to Join Matthew Vaughns "Secret Service"
Variety is reporting that director Matthew Vaughn might have found his co-star in 'Secret Service', an adaptation of the popular Mark Millar comic series, in finding newcomer Taron Edgerton. The film is being directed by Vaughn with Colin Firth starring as the seasoned secret agent that is tasked with training his nephew (Edgerton).
The film gained some attention when Vaughn passed up doing the sequel to his hit X-Men: First Class to do The Secret Service. That shows he believes in the film and is putting all his mind in it. He did that with Kick-Ass (another adaptation of Millar's work).
Other actors have been eyed for the role including Kick-Ass himself, Aaron Johnson, Jack O'Connell and others. They must see something in this new kid to give him the shot. Now they have the main characters except the female lead and villain.
Sources say Emma Watson and Bella Heathcote are rumored to be in the mix for the female lead, while the studio would like a big actor for the villain. Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio have turned down the offer. Booo!!
What do you guys think about the new casting choice?

David S. Goyer Gives Title ideas for Man of Steel Sequel Featuring Batman!
Man of Steel scribe David S. Goyer was announced to return for the sequel featuring Batman. He gave a little interview and some thoughts on what the title could possibly end of being.
"So the next film we’re making, we’re already in pre-production, comes out in summer of 2015 and it’s–we’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it’s–that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening.”Also, reports are coming in that WB bought the domains for SupermanVsBatman.com, BatmanVsSuperman, and BatmanVsSupermanMovie.com. I can only imagine the team of guys staring a board with two names and taking votes on which one. I would just close my eyes and aim and hopefully hit the board (area). Quite an accomplishment in my book.

Comic-Con: Avengers Sequel Officially Titled 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' + Logo!
Marvel just dropped a huge bomb! They sneakily entered a quick little trailer into their Hall H presentation for the Avengers sequel! It is officially titled Avengers: Age of Ultron.
This was a huge surprise and greatly loved by anyone who read the crossover series this summer! This is big news for where we will see this series go. We actually might get to see more of Hank Pym before the Antman movie likely.
The footage was showing a alien temple with a man walking up to it and than some quick footage of The Avengers with lines from the first one. Than we get a shot of Ultron's pretty CGI face! Than bam title pops up to crowd applause.
I can not wait for this!
Thoughts on Marvel using comic story arc for film?

Comic-Con: Fantastic Godzilla Poster with Viral Marketing!
San Diego Comic-Con isn't even here yet and so much news and hype is coming out of San Diego. Godzilla has had a presence at the Con for the last couple of years and has been getting bigger every year. This year they are taking a major leap into events and viral marketing that is rich in content. Reminds me of Cloverfield viral marketing.
Warner Bros. released a crazy awesome poster for the film and I'm getting super excited about this film more and more. They will have a pretty giant presence at SDCC this year and it will only get better.
UPDATE: Viral Marketing
Viral marketing has been pretty huge on Godzilla lately and stuff has been going down all day today for it. They have been getting updates over last couple of days that include a random letter here and there in bold red. A new update allows SDCC badge holders to put in those letters as secret code "SERIZAWA" into www.godzillaencounter.ticketleap.com to get tickets to a epic encounter later this week.
Random Fact: Dr. Daisuke Serizawa is the name of the scientist in the original 1954 Godzilla film. History lesson of day folks.
More news to follow what this event will hold!
SDCC is here almost!

Comic-Con: New Predator Project Being Announced?
"There's something out there waiting for us, and it ain't no man... We're all gonna die." Thats all the image says but the background is a above city view of San Diego. Timing is way to good for it not to be related to San Diego Comic-Con.
A new movie?, Game?, tv series?, anime?, who knows?
Also, 20th Century Fox does have a panel that features Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Wolverine, and a "surprise". Hmm wonder what that could be?
We will find out more info soon
SDCC starts this week!!!

Why Pacific Rim Needs to be a Box Office Smash
Ok I normally don't do editorials on movies that haven't come out yet or any really at all based around this. So, I will say it straight up, Please, Please go and see Pacific Rim. I haven't seen it yet so I'm not sure if it will be as amazing as it looks. All I know is we need this movie to be a hit! For the sake of cinemas future.
Hollywood has a problem. They won't admit it but they do. It only sees the money in sequels, reboots, or adaptations of books or comics. So that leaves little room for the original movies to get made with proper budgets. Not many studios would take a risk of $100 million + on an original idea for a summer tent pole. Legendary Pictures did with the mega-movie Pacific Rim. Giant Robots and Monsters with Charlie Hunnam. High Concept right there.
The early tracking of Pacific Rim isn't looking too well. If everything goes how it's looking, then we could have this years version of Battleship (last years big budget film tanking). That isn't good for more than a studio losing money. Battleship and John Carter were different, they are adaptations of books and games. We the consumers are just as likely to blame for it as them. We go in groups to see this stuff usually.
As a fan of original material making it to big screen with a budget of $100 million +, I advise you to try and see this movie in theaters. We deserve other movies to get the chance to be big and bad and awesome. Lets try and turn this film tracking around and save cinema. I know its a big task, but I believe we can do it together.
Now, back to your regular scheduled programing.
P.S. I will be taking a slight vacation for the week so likely won't do any post. Just remember Comic-Con is just around the corner!

Vin Diesel Heading to Marvel?
That is pretty big news! What does Marvel want to talk about with him? Do they have a part for him in the future films? All I know is Marvel has a lot of characters and plot ideas in the pipeline. So they could have a character in mind for him and want to run it by him.
Rumors have been around for a while now about Diesel joining the Marvel Universe. Some rumors have been him playing Vision down the road or Thanos with that voice. Hmmmm only time will tell. What do you think? Any ideas?

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures Go Separate Ways
Legendary Pictures founder Thomas Tull has a few interested parties to partner up with now. The top runners are Universal, Sony, and Fox. They are all great companies that make respectable films in Legendary's expertise. The most likely candidate is Universal.
Universal has the most to offer for the big entertainment company. Legendary wants to move into other ventures including tv, comic books, and digital content. Universal has mega-network NBC and it's subsidiaries. This will for sure entice these guys to drink the kool aid.
Before any deal is being made, Legendary will meet with Fox for a chit chat. Tull said he want's to choose the best company to "help fulfill the grand vision." So look at this as a oppunity to grow and see where these ventures will take us in theaters in coming years. Legendary has always drew me in.

DC Unveils "Justice League 3000" + Concept Art
DC Comics recently canceled the beloved series The Legion of Super-Heroes, and that left a void for future set heroes. So they are going to basically take us back to the 31st Century in a new ongoing series titled "Justice League 3000". Yes, DC is milking it's Justice League title with a more than few series out there titled it. Although this series is a little different because being set in 31st Century, the current team isn't alive.
The team will consist of a Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Green Lantern, and of course The Flash. These characters themselves have not been announced who will be portraying them, but expect maybe a Legion member here or there. You never know.
The best part, we will be seeing some familiar faces (names) returning to Justice League. Writer duo, Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis, and artist Kevin Maguire are teaming up again for this. You might remember them for their funny series Justice League International. This will be a very interesting take on the 31st century.
Howard Porter designed the new fresh costumes of the main 5 members. They look pretty spiffy and different. Did The Flash and Chamber have a child? OMG they gave Wonder Woman Pants? Crazy!
Check out the CBR exclusive designs of Batman, The Flash, Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman.

Man of Steel Review
Superman has been long overdue for a cinematic tale to show how amazing of a character he truly is, director Zack Snyder has finally given the world exactly that. This isn't your fathers superman and that is a great thing! Welcome to the 21st Century Superman.
When I first heard that visionary director Christopher Nolan was overseeing the production of a new Superman, I almost fainted. This was a huge fanboy dream, to have the Batman director working on Superman. The Man of Steel has been in grave need to be rebooted into something that has stable ground with the current world, so we can relate to it better. The Christopher Reeve movies are great in their own way and will always be dear to me, but as a fanboy, we needed a grittier man in (no) tights.
Man of Steel starts off with a bang I wasn't expecting but gleefully accepted. We were able to see Krypton in all it's glory and finally get to know Jor-El better than a few scenes in the fortress of solitude. Many fans will appreciate that because all they ever known was a select few Marlon Brando scenes. Hell, Russell Crowe is in the film almost a total hour! That is awesome. The early scenes help us see the world where Kal-El came from and what happened to the home world. It sets the tone of film nicely and was good to see.
The film didn't stop there with the surprises in storytelling and story itself. We see Kal-El doing his thing in the Alaskan area and than it gets weird. Good weird though, for most part that is. The origins of Clark Kent are basically done it flashbacks to important times that help us see what shapes his moral compass. Yes this film is not chronological, but riddled with flashbacks. It might be disruptive to some, but it was a brisk storytelling idea that helped us learn more about him than an hour of young clark growing up. (which we have seen time and time again.) This film is filled with surprises.
This film is about a young Clark Kent/ Kal-El growing into being Superman. The plot revolves around Clark finding out about his past, becoming something more, and trying to fit in. This film is very much a sci-fi film because it isn't just about Superman being here and us all accepting it. It is about an alien dealing with what he is in on earth. We see how the humans would react to him. This part we hardly ever get to see in a Superman mytho. It gives us a great "what if" scenario in the real world. This plot point was greatly accepted by me and you connect well with the film. There is a lot of plot points that aren't seen very often and especially in a Superman movie.
If Lois Lane is in a Superman film, we usually get a Superman movie turned into a Lois and Clark movie. We don't need that anymore. We had the 90s tv series to go through all that. Man of Steel takes a step away from the old love tale to be a minor thing that is just there. It works perfectly with the story they are telling. So if you are wanting a lot of Lois love going on, I'm sorry bud. Don't think Lois won't be seen in it, she is for sure here. By the end of the film you will see what direction the relationship will be going in later films. Amy Adams did a great job with her character. In fact, the cast was spot on everywhere!
Superman is greatly known for his morals donned on him by his fathers both real and adopted, Pa Kent and Jor-El. These characters are quite possibly just as hard to cast as Superman himself. They nailed them dead on! The casting of Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner as Jor-El and Jonathan Kent, were hands down the best casting choices in recent movie history. Their performances were standouts and you just wanted to see more of them throughout. The scenes they were in were deeply important to us for understanding Clark as a person. We saw how he was molded morally by these men. To really feel the impact of that you must have a great actor portraying them. They greatly succeeded.
Now, for the villains, we finally get to see the return of General Zod and his crew to the big screen. Their appearance in Superman II holstered a great cast of Terrance Stamp as Zod. So naturally thats what we compare any future ones too. Michael Shannon as Zod took a bold and dark take that gives a great commanding evil vibe. We see sides of Zod that we never have seen before in the scenes between him and Jor-El and learn why he is the way he is. Creepy and more layers than ever before can take a character long ways. Honestly, his sidekick Faora was a surprise because she has never had more than a few moments to show her evilness. She was greatly cast and scary as Zods right hand woman.
The entire supporting cast was fantastic with only a few characters I wish we got fleshed out more. For instance, Laurence Fishburne's Perry White was an odd choice but worked great. Just wished we could have seen more of his comical side. Christopher Meloni was given a role he was born to play. Military. What else could you ask for from him? He did great and was given a few great lines.
Director Zack Snyder is very talented with detail in all his films. Sometimes, so much he misses on story. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Watchmen and 300, but he has failed at Sucker Punch so bad I almost lost hope. Sorry for doubting you Zack! You gave great detail to Superman along with a briskly paced film that gives a different storytelling take on the character that works for most. We get to skip the moments we've seen more than enough before. Also, the idea to not use Superman's John William's theme was a big heartbreaker at first, but the new Hans Zimmer take gives it's on magical moments that just add depth to the scenes.
Man of Steel has proven itself to be a great take on Superman that many have wanted but many also are apprehensive towards a non "golden age" take on the character. The big climatic scene will push fans into a heated argument for the near future. I say it was a necessary take on Man of Steel to bring him into 2013 and give us a good idea where the DC connected film universe will be going down the road. As for origin films go, Man of Steel succeeds in many of the categories. It never slows down but is edgy enough to change some big set in stone factors and works for most people. The non-linear storytelling was a fresh approach to a comic book movie. The character development is pretty good though out on everyone except Clark kent getting his little quirky remarks to people. Maybe in future we will get more of that.
All said, Man of Steel was an accomplishment in that fact DC can make a hit other than Batman and with the world setting up a bigger shared universe, it is getting good for us. The origins of Superman have been told in this and will hopefully show repercussions in future films on his moral compass. We are heading in the right direction DC. Thank you!

'Girl Meets World' Picked Up by Disney! First Images Released
The series will revolve around Ben Savage and Danielle Fischel's, Cory and Topanga's, daughter Riley in her tween years just like the original show did her parents. Seems only worthy it will happen that way. I haven't watched anything on Disney Channel in years, but I might make a stop by to check this out.
Cast members of the original series are expected to stop by here and there though out, with even the amazing Mr. Feeny in the pilot. Now, we just need cory's parents and brother Eric. I wonder what ever happened to his character in the universe? We must find out!
The series will air sometime in 2014. What do you guys think about it? Good to see old faces on Disney or will it crash?

'This is the End' Review
This is the End is on everyones radar because of the high concept of comedy stars (as themselves) surviving with each other during the apocalypse. You are intrigued, I know, but you are also weary to go further incase of let down. I must say you will be 'on cloud nine happy' how freaking funny this movie is!
The film was inspired by a 2007 short film that Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel starred in called Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse. The short film was pretty promising and funny so it was nice to see they decided to expand upon it and go big or go home on it.
The plot is strikingly simple: Jay Baruchel decided to come to LA from Canada to hangout with his buddy, Seth Rogan, and have fun together. Seth gets Jay, unwilling, to go to James Franco's house warming party. Jay doesn't like any of those guys and feels out of place and go out for cigarettes with Seth. Apocalyptic mayhem soon ensues. They are than forced to live with each other and other big name comedians like Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, and the awesome Danny McBride. Fun and messed up will for sure come from that mix of guys.
The film gives you a sense of realism to a certain degree of those guys being themselves at a party filled with so much current talent it was awesome. You had a hilarious, I mean hilarious version of Micharl Cera than Kevin Hart, Emma Watson, Rihanna, Paul Rudd, Jason Segal, and a few great others. They were so funny in the scenes they were in. I will say there are a few brilliant cameos that will literally make you tear up laughing so hard. It made the movie go up +5 points for being so random and hilarious. The guy behind me was stomping laughing so hard. I won't spoil it for you I promise. *as I type the name and deleted it because I want to tell the world!!*
The film is hilarious on its own accord, with the concept being funny, but the individual characters improvising is where the gold is. Director Evan Goldberg did a fantastic job of keeping the ball moving on the film with letting these guys literally be themselves and do their own sense of comedy. Surprisingly, all the jokes work great going off one another and will make you laugh just watching it. I know they are playing highly fictionalized version of themselves, but that is where they fun comes from all the way. I'm not really sure Jonah Hill is that overly nice, but I do believe that Danny McBride is that D#$% version of himself that is so fun to love to hate. Serously though Danny you are awesome if you ever read this review. He really did shine in the scenes he was in and almost stole the show.
I can't give all the credit of being great to Danny McBride because the whole cast did some of their best roles in a longtime. James Franco was hilarious, and Seth Rogen was actually really likable and couldn't have been better. I can't complain about any of the characters being so horrible they turned from being likable a-holes into straight up a-hole territory. It doesn't exist.
So you have a film about end of the world, comedy, action, adventure, whats missing..oh wait..there is an actually bromance part to it that fits perfect. The film is a few sketches sewn together to make a hilarious film, but a big factor from beginning to end is the relationship between good friends Jay and Seth. The relationship is rocky and the beginning and gets worse than better. You really start to like these guys and want them to live. They did great on keeping the film grounded enough so you could get to know these guys better than a few great jokes.
The only problems I could have with the film was one of it's best parts too. It really is a double edged sword. The simple plot gave room for times where it felt things needed to move on a little bit but they did great on trying to avoid it. The gore will make some uneasy because it was unexpected but it fits so well together it was meant to happen.
This is the End had an amazing cast, special effects, ideas, and cameos to make it a really fun film that will surpise a lot of people. It has its sweet moments, it's scary freaky moments, and its gut busting hilarious moments. If you are a fan of these guys previous films and humor, then you will greatly appreciate this film as one, if not, the best in their career to this point. And just think it was all without Judd Apatow behind the camera. If you coudn't care less about their usual humor than you will have trouble liking the running gags and few random jokes, but will likely find something you enjoyed a bit.
B+
I will tell people I gave it an A because of the one fantastic cameo I promised I wouldn't tell. *I typed it again and deleted it! It's killing me!*

Flashback Review: 'Superman: The Movie' (1978)
I bet you are wondering why I'm reviewing a movie that came out almost 40 years ago or maybe you are not. Superman is making his much deserved return into theaters this friday in 'Man of Steel' and I think its a perfect time to take a stroll down memory lane. Let's take a look how to the man in tights made his big movie debut in 1978 up to 2013.
Superman: The Movie was what I would consider the first superhero movie to be taken seriously and not campy with some big serious actors. They took a big chance on this film. The process of how this film came around his a whole post in itself, so lets skip all that and get to the movie itself.
I grew up watching this movie in the 90s on VHS. Oh good ol' VHS.., and now recently watching it on glorious Blu-ray, it only gets better and more fantastical. Superman was more of a hero that everyone just loved but wasn't really known to be adult orientated enough to be taken seriously to become a big star studded movie. Those people were greatly proven wrong by director Richard Donner. He made Superman, a great character already, a icon to all.
Superman was given a proper origin story that moved at a brisk pace that worked great on film. We were able to see Krypton dying with the great Marlon Brando. Then Kal-El getting found by Jon and Martha Kent. It was filmed perfectly to lay out the tone of the film with great special effects that can hold up today. We skip the Smallville years for the most part (just watch CW's Smallville to get gist of it), but we see some very important scenes that makes Superman, well, Superman.
The Daily Planet scenes just feel right. We finally get to see Christopher Reeve bring Clark Kent to life. He was hands down a dead on cast! If you were Growing up, through the 70's til now, Reeve is Clark Kent/Superman to you. He looks exactly like he came out of the pages of the comic. He put heart in the role and gave everyone a person to look up to that has lasted til today.
Superman wasn't the only great one cast either. The regulars in comics Lois Lane, Perry White, Jimmy Oslen, and especially arch-nemisis Lex Luthor, were fantastic! Margot Kidder as Lois Lane did a marvelous job at playing the hard headed reporter.
Lex Luthor on the other hand was possibly the second best casting in the film. Serious actor Gene Hackman took a character that was used so often in the comics and made him fresh. He was slightly funny and suave while completely evil. You hated to hate him but loved to hate him at same time. Luthor's plan to sink half of California for retail property is menacing and bat@#$% crazy at same time it might just work. Great job on bringing that character to the screen.
The director, Richard Donner, has an eye for great special effects throughout while maintaing a film about larger than life characters you can relate to. The subtle ways we see Superman save a person or fly through the air gives a smile on your face no matter the age. A superhero masterpiece to start off a generation of serious taken hero flicks.

DC Announces September Villain Month Titles + Cool 3D Covers
DC Comics announced back in April, they were going to plan a "Villain Month" for September. This will be a way to celebrate the anniversary of the New 52. They finally unveiled how this will happen and announced the first couple of issues that will have some baddies take over the book. I really like the idea behind this and could be really awesome.
In an interview (via Buzzfeed ), Co-Publisher Dan Didio said, "This September we wanted to try something a little different and really explore our villain base, and show the challenges our heroes face with every story and every issue, because of the strength of the characters taking over their books in that month."
They continued to say that we won't see anybody brand new but will be introduced into the New 52 for the first time. I wonder who those could be hmmm. Also, they said all the big villains including The Joker, Lex Luthor, and Darkseid, will be making appearances. This will be epic, but I'm really excited for the big crossover event titled Forever Evil. It will have repercussions in the other titles as well.
Last big thing they hinted at is we might have a title or 2 continute as am ongoing series. Any ideas on who it will be?
Here are all of the awesome 3D titles! Make sure to check out the rest after the break!

Sad News: Math Smith to Exit Doctor Who After Christmas Special
It is that time again, a brand-new doctor is coming. BBC announced yesterday that current doctor, Matt Smith, is leaving the very role that made him a geek icon. He will be doing the 50th Anniversary Special and end his era with the Christmas Special later this year. This is a bit of odd news to just happen, but many have been wondering when he would opt to leave due to his recent increase in venturing out into silver-screen territory with more movies getting made. BBC released a rather very long statement about the matter (below) from Smith himself and then another by Showrunner Steven Moffat.
“Doctor Who has been the most brilliant experience for me as an actor and a bloke, and that largely is down to the cast, crew and fans of the show. I’m incredibly grateful to all the cast and crew who work tirelessly every day, to realise all the elements of the show and deliver Doctor Who to the audience. Many of them have become good friends and I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the last four years.Having Steven Moffat as show runner write such varied, funny, mind bending and brilliant scripts has been one of the greatest and most rewarding challenges of my career. It’s been a privilege and a treat to work with Steven, he’s a good friend and will continue to shape a brilliant world for the Doctor. The fans of Doctor Who around the world are unlike any other; they dress up, shout louder, know more about the history of the show (and speculate more about the future of the show) in a way that I’ve never seen before, your dedication is truly remarkable. Thank you so very much for supporting my incarnation of the Time Lord, number Eleven, who I might add is not done yet, I’m back for the 50th anniversary and the Christmas special! It’s been an honour to play this part, to follow the legacy of brilliant actors, and helm the TARDIS for a spell with ‘the ginger, the nose and the impossible one’. But when ya gotta go, ya gotta go and Trenzalore calls. Thank you guys. Matt.”
Here is showrunner Steven Moffat statement:
“Every day, on every episode, in every set of rushes, Matt Smith surprised me: the way he’d turn a line, or spin on his heels, or make something funny, or out of nowhere make me cry, I just never knew what was coming next. The Doctor can be clown and hero, often at the same time, and Matt rose to both challenges magnificently. And even better than that, given the pressures of this extraordinary show, he is one of the nicest and hardest-working people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Whatever we threw at him – sometimes literally – his behaviour was always worthy of the Doctor.
But great actors always know when it’s time for the curtain call, so this Christmas prepare for your hearts to break, as we say goodbye to number Eleven. Thank you Matt – bow ties were never cooler.
Of course, this isn’t the end of the story, because now the search begins. Somewhere out there right now – all unknowing, just going about their business – is someone who’s about to become the Doctor. A life is going to change, and Doctor Who will be born all over again! After 50 years, that’s still so exciting!”
More news on the search to come!

Quicksilver Cast in X-Men: Days of Future Past! (Will Cause Problems for Avengers 2?)
Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox are going to cause problems in the Marvel Universe.
Well, before I get into the big legal problems that are sure to arise. Bryan Singer announced through twitter that actor Evan Peters (Kick Ass, American Horror Story) has been cast as Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Now commence how this causes a lot of problems.
Where to begin? Hmmm. Lets start with Marvel Studios announced that in the current script for The Avengers 2, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were going to be joining the cast. Thats cool and all, but they problems were they are Magneto's kids and thats were it gets legal fuzzy.
20th Century Fox owns the rights to X-Men and it's catalog of mutants. That includes Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) and Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff) kids to non other than Magneto himself. So Marvel Studios, owned by Disney, have their legal hands full of how to get this scenario to work. Well, reports are saying Marvel could use the two characters as along as they don't say who they are kids of or they are "mutants". Yes Fox has the rights to "mutants".
Does Marvel and Fox have an agreement to use the characters 2 separate films? Or did Fox just pull this out of nowhere to really stick it Marvel about stealing two of their characters? You don't see Captain America aka Steve Rodgers showing up in The Wolverine without the Stars and Stripes.
Apparently more reports are coming in saying that Marvel can indeed use the characters, but not the mutant names, but can use, Piertro and Wanda, their real names. That makes sense but sucks for fanboys seeing these characters in separate universes a year apart. They could somehow down the road merge the universes into a super marvel cinematic universe.
HitFix reports "we're going to see is a legally-negotiated stand-off in which we'll get two totally different versions of one character. While (Fox and Marvel) may act like things are amicable in public, HitFix sources say otherwise." They add, "The way the arrangement works, Marvel Studios cannot refer to the character as a 'mutant,' and they can't mention Magneto at all. Likewise, Fox can't make any reference to The Avengers in their film. That means they'll have to either explain his powers in a different way in The Avengers 2, or they'll just have to make no mention of his origin at all."
More info to come in due time when this all gets figured out
