Top 10 Worst Films of 2011

The end of the year is here and the Top 10 List must come out. Today's lucky list is… Worst films of 2011. This year is just full of blockbuster let downs and movies we knew where going to be terrible from the first trailer. Here is the infamous list you don't want to be seen on but want to see (not films on them though)

10. Transformers: Dark of  Moon

TF3 was actually not as bad as TF2 but it still makes the top 10 list. The acting in this movie was not good at all with Shia losing faith in the series (like us all) and bringing in a new love interest (below). Also, they brought in way too much comic-relief for their on good. The only thing this film had going for it was the FX and, while amazing, it lasted way too effin long. 3D was pretty good though. That isn't saying much either.

9. Cowboys & Aliens

Cowboys & Aliens shouldn't go together like eggs and ketchup shouldn't but to some people they do. Those people are the reason this movie was made. The idea was out there and sounded great if they could make them work. In Some ways it did by going serious route with this movie. If it was comedy, I wouldn't like even give this movie a fighting chance. The acting was just superb with the material they had but the story was just lacking in most places. The poor main guy lost both his hookers to the aliens. Damn. I had high hopes for this movie but it was a let down mostly.

8. Season of the Witch

The only reason this movie isn't number one on the list is because Nic Cage's long hair wig made me laugh enough for to become amusing to me. Nothing else to say really, just bad movie all around. Sorry Nic.

7. The Green Hornet

This movie just didn't have me at first then after a few trailers it interested me. After seeing it, it lost me for good. I thought it had a bad actor playing the main part, but great actors in supporting roles that may have even stolen the movie. The directing was really good and did it's part of making it good. The story then made it lose just everything it had going for it along with the acting.

6. Just Go With It

Adam Sandler is an actor who has people that adore him and people who hate everything he makes with passion. I am a fan for the most part. Mostly earlier roles. This movie just had nothing real to gain from the over-the-top theme and way it played out. This could have been prevented with 2 simple lies or telling the truth from the start. The only great thing about it was Nick Swardson and Jennifer Aniston. The plot is pretty simple and easily figured out by a 4 year old.

5. Battle: Los Angeles

Battle: LA is another movie on the list that had aliens involved with something unrelated to sic-fi. It had a better idea to go all Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down with aliens thrown in. It had amazing special effects and scenes. So why did this movie fail? The script and some acting. Just not having those will make any movie go down the drain. The dialogue was so bad it made me fall asleep almost. I think the writers watched every war film and stole every cliche it had or phrase with mediocre actors saying them this time.

4. Dream House

Dream House is likely the only film on the list to blasted by director and actors in it. The production company changed so much of the film that director Jim Sheridan wanted his named removed from it. That just says it all right there. The plot and acting had promise but was ruined not at their own accord, but producers. They cut the trailer to reveal the big plot twist and just from that gave up any chance it had of being scary because you knew it already. Daniel Craig did just fine with what he had to work with, even he has decided to not help the film and will not associate with it. Due to poor editing and choppy story this film fails.

3. Green lantern

Ryan Reynolds is my main reason for this placement. I love the guy, just not for this role. Hal Jordan is supposed to be a more serious grown-up man with sense. The film just lost it with a bad origin story that was lackluster in every way. I wanted to see the CGI suit work but it didn't. I wanted to see Ryan pull it off, he didn't. I wanted the action to be amazing and I'll just ask "what action?". I only hope DC gets their stuff together for future films and go serious not kiddie on it. Take some lessons from Marvel.

2. Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son

They had no reason in the world to make this movie or the second one for that. Big Mommas House was a great funny action film. They just had to ruin it with a third film that had a horrible tv comedy story. The producers knew it was going to be bad and just a cash cow. I think the actors knew too, but they tried to have the most fun they could with it. The role is over used too much and actors are trying to work but can't with bad production value and trying to glee it up with songs. It is hard to get through the whole movie with this stuff thrown together.

1. Sucker Punch

Oh the high hopes I had for this film. They were so high and I was letdown in the worst of ways. I love Zack Snyders work and just adored the thought of him making n original film. Boy was I wrong on every level. This film is atrocious from beginning to end. The story is so childish and I think he took everything a 12 yr old boy looks up on google and gave it to a 12 yr old to write. Cheap labor. The story plays out like a bad video game with clues and levels with bosses. After the second boss battle it becomes just ridicules and boring. The next best part was when the credits started rolling and I walked out. Although, the FX were amazing but that is it. Nothing else was good at all. Biggest letdown of 2011.

Dis-honarble mentions: I Am Number Four, Scream 4, Mr. Poppers Penguins, Beastly, and Dylan Dog.

Movies I suspect are horrible but haven't seen: The Smurfs, Alvin and Chipmunks 3, Monte Carlo, and Jack and Jill.

Amazing Spider-Man Toy Confirms Spoiler Rumors

It's been awhile since I've been on here (Christmas stuff), but I'm back with some interesting news about the anticipated The Amazing Spider-Man film. This innocent (awesome) looking toy gives away some major spoilers to the climax of the film. Normally I wouldn't say a toy would get the plot of the film right, but about a year ago some news broke that climax would have Dr. Conners "the Lizard" transform a SWAT team into lizard minions. Crazy I know, but the mega bloks prove it. I am still going to be a good boyfriend and take my Spider-Man loving girlfriend to see this movie (even though I really want to see it too. shh)

Here is the toy in question and The Amazing Spider-Man will be released on July 3.

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer!!!! Finally!!

The Dark Knight Rises trailer is finally online! I have been waiting months to see this full trailer and finally got to see it last friday. It does not really show to much of story (good thing) but it does have a kick to it. It gives great looks at Catwoman and Bane all though out it. The trailer doesn't really give off the full magical vibe that The Dark Knight trailer had a few years ago but pretty damn close. I can't wait to see this movie at least 5 times in theaters.

Also, we get a quick glimpse at Miranda Tate a.k.a. Talia al Ghul if the rumors are true. Along with a brief scene of John Blake an odd character that will likely serve a greater role than thought.

The Dark Knight Rises glides into theaters on July 20, 2012

Movie Trailers of Week - December 16th

So this week has been very busy with so a lot of trailers being released across the genres. I didn't have time to post them the days they all came out and I am just going to do them all in one big post. Here are the trailers for your enjoyment.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance - February 17, 2012

This trailer gives more of the plot and I think it looks better than the first only in cameras used not really plot. I've heard some really harsh words about this movie already with comments like Ghost Rider 2 makes Ghost Rider 1 look like The Dark Knight. I have really taken a blow to my hopes on the success of making a good movie with Ghost Rider.

Rock of Ages - June 1, 2012

Another musical is bound to happen a few times a year and most pan out pretty good. This one looks really great actually. Tom Cruise is the perfect person to play a full out rocker and the trailer shows it well. The story looks like not only girls can get into it but guys will have no problem with the amazing soundtrack of classic rock bands.

Jack the Giant Killer - June 15, 2012

This movie has been on a lot of peoples list waiting to see something for it. Director Bryan Singer hasn't had anything filmed by him seen in recent years because he has been working on this - his baby project. All I can say about this movie is I'm a little nervous about it. The plot has been used over and over but this has a new twist that could maybe work or blow up. Just watch trailer and see what you think.

The Dictator - May 11, 2012

Are you ready for the next Borat or Bruno? Well too bad if your not because this movie might just be that. Cohen has always had an eye for making out there movies with out there characters he gets way to into. This movie looks like it will have a few laughs but I'm not that impressed with it honestly. The only really funny part is the last scene in trailer.

Casa de mi Padre - March 16, 2012

I honestly don't know about this movie at all. I have no desire to see Will Ferrel play a role speaking spanish the entire time. I think it will have a market (mainly south..way south) but will not catch on mainstream. Just can't wait to have my wonderful girlfriend translate the movie for me. If not, I'm sure it will make a great soundtrack.

New Trailer and Poster for The Expendables 2

So earlier this week a very brief teaser trailer for The Expendables 2 came online featuring a scene with Bruce Willis telling Stallone he needed him. Then it went into a montage of the huge cast of past their prime action stars including new members Van Damme, Norris, and Hemsworth (not beast Hemsworth but baby brother Hemsworth). I can't wait for some mindless man violence.

Here is the trailer and the poster featuring Stallone inside a building with a (perfect) giant 2 blown into it.

Men In Black 3 Trailer!!

Men In Black 3 (MiB 3) is one of those movies you don't really need to have, but they wouldn't be the worst thing to make. MiB has been through some hell in the last year with huge problems with the script not being complete and having to take a long break just for that. So, naturally you would think the film will be not too good. I have hope for this movie still with a pretty good trailer.

Here is the trailer for Men In Black 3 invading theaters on May 25, 2012

First G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer

The first trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation has made its way online. The trailer features a pretty much brand new cast and crew (except Channing Tatum as Duke and Ray Park as Snake Eyes) and it looks way better than the first one (which is why I think almost the whole crew didn't come back).

The new crew includes director John Chu (Step Up 3D, Never Say Never) and actors Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Roadblock, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, Elodie Yung as Jinx, DJ Cotrona as Flint, RZA as The Blind Master, Joseph Mazzello as Mouse and Ray Stevenson as Firefly. Oh and pretty cool appearance by the legendary Bruce Willis.

So here is too the new crew of awesome actors in what looks like a movie that will join "be better than the original" club

G.I. Joe: Retaliation shoots into theaters on June 29, 2012

New The Dark Knight Rises Poster

This is quite literally the most badass Batman poster to come out since way back when The Dark Knight days with The Joker teasers. I had a nerdgasm when I saw this one earlier. An epic nerdgasm mixed with a mangasm.

It reveals somethings that are pretty crazy if correct. For instance, it says "The legend ends" WTF does that mean? Batman will die? or better yet have back broken? or even the broken mask, what did Bane do to him and does he know the identity of him since the mask is broken? I'm full of questions.

Here is the epic teaser poster that I will for sure buy and put on my Batman wall. Yes..I have a Batman wall for the questions in your head right now. It's epic to say the least.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and don't forget to check out the 8 min prologue to it hitting IMAX with M:I 4 later this week. (If you super lucky)

Grown Ups Sequel In Works

Last years summer hit Grown Ups starring Adam Sandler and most of SNL cast of 95 (Spade, Rock, Schnieder) and new group member Kevin James will be getting a sequel if things go right. When I say right I really mean wrong for viewers. Just kidding…seriously though.

Sandler has never done a sequel before, so this will likely be his first pending his return. The sequel is only in-talks between Sony Pictures and Sandler's Happy Madison with writer Fred Wolf. Wolf wrote first one and groups other films including Joe Dirt, Dickie Roberts, and the really horrible Strange Wilderness.

Let's just be glad they decided to make a sequel to this film and not another Sandler movie. I mean any of them.

Bay to Return for Transformers 4

According to Vulture, Michael Bay is going to direct Transformers 4 (shocker). Even though Bay has said time after time he will not direct another TF movie. He always comes back for the right price. What a sellout if I don't say so myself.

The news is that Paramount is in final talks to get Bay back for TF 4 to shoot around winter 2012. Bay has finally taken time away from mindless robot violence to direct a dream project of his called Pain and Gain. That film will shoot beginning of 2012 on budget around 20 million. That gives Bay time to prepare for shooting TF 4 later.

So, with earlier reports a couple of months ago that Shia will not return and 4 and 5 will be shot back-to-back. Those are still unconfirmed like these current reports.

Hi-Res Pics From The Dark Knight Rises

Earlier this week some poorly scanned photos of this months issue of Empire magazine made their way online. The images featured the main article about The Dark Knight Rises. It had some pretty awesome shots of Bane (Tom Hardy) and some of Batman (Christian Bale). They look pretty beastly.

Side Note: Just like back in 2007 with the IMAX showings of I Am Legend with opening scene of The Dark Knight, Nolan will be showing 6-7 minute opening of The Dark Knight Rises before IMAX of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol this December.

Here are the covers and images from the issue in Hi-Res.

Men In Black 3 Teaser Posters and URL

Over the weekend some posters have popped up in the wild, covertly, featuring a pretty cool look at Agent J (Will Smith) and Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) from the Men In Black 3 (MiB 3) with just the MiB logo. Collider got the first image featuring Agent K and later another spy shot of Agent J made its way online.

I really cool little thing is at the bottom of the poster is a web address hidden in the text. The url (TheMenInBlackSuitsAreReal.com) takes you to the Facebook page which is pretty hidden with only 300 likes at this point. It has an interesting info page and a cool pic for the profile pic. Let the viral games begin.

Here are the bootlegged posters (I'll upload hi-res when they available)

Awesome Splatter Paint Superheros

These Splatter paintings just are completely awesome. When I saw the Batman and Wonder Woman ones I had a nerdgasm. Just kidding…only when I saw the Batman one..so anyways.. This ingenious artist name Arian Noveir has blessed us nerds with some awesome (digital) splatter paintings of just about all the most iconic superheros *minus mighty mouse* and they are fantastic. I want to buy a print of a few myself.

So here are the prints. You can buy them including iPhone covers, laptop covers, shirts, etc…. at Noveir's site society6.com

Here are Superman and Batman

The rest are after the jump. And I recommend checking them out because they include Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Wonder Woman, and Hellboy. They are pretty amazing.

New Cool Avengers Banners

A new banner poster (or just individual posters but together to make a banner) of the main avengers has made its way online. The banner is nothing really new but the Hulk one looks pretty intriguing. Also, I just love how Iron Man has no helmet on while old Capt still has his full mask on, and where is Hawkeye or Black Widow in that banner. Oh wait, another banner has made it's way online a little bit later having the rest of the team (with main villain Loki thrown in) in their very own makeshift banner of posters. Hawkeye looks pretty boss (ya i said boss).

Here is the Banner featuring the main Avengers (Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor)

Here is the "the other guys" plus Hawkeye. He is the only one that should be with the main cast. (Nick Fury, Loki, Hawkeye, Black Widow)

The Avengers assemble in theaters on May 4, 2012

Harry Potter Director David Yates Making Dr. Who Film?

There has been some weird rumors online from Variety that the now-in-demand director of the final four Harry Potter films David Yates will be developing a Dr. Who film. This is some awesome news for the vast number of fans in U.K. and state-side because Yates has British fan base with Potter and I imagine a few state side as well (I know my GF's little sister is a huge fan).

While being interviewed by Variety, Yates told them his plans for feature-length theatrical version of the famed Dr. Who series. He will be teaming up with BBC and told them "We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right," and "It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena." H

That being said, he noted that the series is fantastic, but he said "Russell T. Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch". So look forward for a brand new version of Dr. Who with a bigger and badder budget.

It will be a few years because they are currently looking for writers in U.K. and U.S. for the film. So who knows where the film will be set or will they even have a british accent. Only time will tell.

My only real concern is will there be Daleks and will they be CGI. I'm deeply concerned because everyone knows I care so much about Dr. Who (Not).

The Crow Reboot Concept Art Online

If you were like me and really were weary of the news they were going to remake the classic The Crow, then you might be surprised at how cool it would have looked with director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks later) and mega-star Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) still attached.

The reboot had an amazing director attached and that was cool at first. Then they announced Bradley Cooper was attached to be the main character that returns from the dead as "the Crow". That news scared me and I'm sure hoards of other fans of the series. I just couldn't see the handsome blue-eyed player as the Crow. Well, we have been blessed with some of the concept art of Cooper as The Crow from site ShockTillYouDrop.com. And it looks pretty bad ass. Too bad we lost the director then the main star. Who will replace him? no idea.

Here is the cool looking concept art of Bradley Cooper as The Crow that was never made. Just click them to make them bigger.

Happy Halloween 2011

Happy Halloween from The Last Stand

Top 5: Friday The 13th Death Scenes

Halloween is upon us already. I figure I will do the Top 5 best death scenes from multiple horror slasher franchises in history, or at least the ones I've seen. This Top 5 will feature Friday The 13th.

Friday The 13th is a very prominent slasher series that is most notable in the 80's. The series features hockey masked killer Jason Voorhees as a giant unkillable beast that kills random groups of kids at a camp called Camp Crystal Lake. The series does have some very notable actors including Kevin Bacon, Corey Feldman, Chrispin Glover and a few others.

Kill #5 - Arrow Though Neck (Friday The 13th)

Kill #4 - EyeBall Popout (Friday The 13th 3D)

Kill #3 - Liquid Nitrogen Headache (Jason X)

Kill #2 - Fold-Up Bed (Freddy Vs. Jason)

Kill #1 - Sleeping Bag Slam (Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood) uncut version is better (6 hits)

So there you have it. These are some of the best deaths in the franchise but there are so many to choose from. So if you have a favorite just post a description of it in the comment box. Top Halloween death scenes will be later today.

Chuck Norris On The Expendables 2 Set

So the gods of action films have finally bestowed upon us a movie that will feature just about all the greatest action stars of the 80's in one film. The Expendables 2 is racking up to be a top notch action film with just hearing about the cast. The reports of which action stars are going to be in it have been all over the board from John Travolta to Charlie Sheen. Well, we have ourselves another on-set photo that proves one casting rumor true: Chuck Norris is going to be in it! Most likely just a cameo like Willis and Schwarzenegger in the first one. Which they both have full roles in this one. Awesome.

Here is the  photo of Chuck Norris on-set with Terry Crews and Dolph Lundgren. I Cannot wait to see see this kick-ass movie.

The Expendables 2 kicks ass into theaters on August 17, 2012

HOW TO: Hide Newstand App in iOS 5 (Sorta)

So if your like me and have no desire to use the Newstand app that is undeletable after the update to iOS 5 then I have a solution for you! So you noticed that the app is not able to be put into a folder or deleted. That just sucks so much having an app we will never use. Some smart (bored) apple fans have found a bug in the software that lets you trick your iDevice to let you put the app in a folder. By putting the app in a folder renders the app useless and if you click on it, well it makes your home screen reboot. (Fun thing to do with friends iPods at school I assume.) So DON'T do this trick if you intend to use this app. Here are the steps you will have to do to make it work.

NOTE: You must work quickly on these steps to make the trick/fix to work.

Step #1- You must combine 2 apps (doesn't matter what 2 app) into a folder.

Step#2 - When the apps get bigger and the folder animation starts, You must QUICKLY! drag the Newsstand app over the folder. It should show up into the folder. It may take a few tries to get it right.

Step#3 - You now have a folder created with the dreaded Newstand app hiding from your home screen.

Random Fact: If for some reason you would like to get the stupid Newstand app to work just drag it out of the folder and it will work just fine. Good luck.

Trailer of the Week: A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas

I was pretty skeptical about this movie way back when they announced they were making it because of the fantasy plot and change in directors and writers. I will say that this isn't that bad. It's actually hilarious! Come on a baby high on weed and Cocaine. That is hilarious. Also, the 3D seems like it will be pretty good.

WARNING: this trailer is red band and features boobs, kids on drugs, claymation penis, and racial jokes, santa smoking a bong, and NPH. Enjoy.

After years of growing apart, Harold Lee (John Cho) and Kumar Patel (Kal Penn) have replaced each other with new best friends and are preparing for their respective Christmas celebrations. But when a mysterious package arrives at Kumar’s door, his attempt to deliver it to Harold’s house ends with him inadvertently burning down Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree. With his in-laws out of the house for less than a day, Harold decides to cover his tracks rather than come clean, and reluctantly embarks on another ill-advised but hilarious journey with Kumar, taking them through New York City on Christmas Eve in search of the perfect Christmas tree.

The Punisher is Coming to The Small Screen?!

So apparently FOX has ordered a pilot for The Punisher. I'm just as shocked as you. I am the biggest Punisher fan I've ever met, being I have every comic featuring him and all the movies (which I love). Seriously, why have a tv show on broadcast television no less give us at least Showtime.

FOX has tapped Criminal Minds showrunner Edward Bernero to adapt the character to a tv show. The format is actually pretty similar to another marvel character. The show will be an hour-long police procedural featuring Frank Castle (The Punisher) as "a rising star detective with the New York Police Department" and when he goes home for the night, he is The Punisher fixing the filth in the city he can't do legally. Sounds kind of familiar. Just change the setting from detective to lawyer and BAM you got Daredevil or stick with cop and you maybe get Dexter.

Marvel is just milking the characters they own with having multiple shows in-production featuring The Hulk, Cloak and Dagger, Powers, and AKA Jessica Jones. I'm loosing faith in you Marvel.

No news when show will premiere just gotta wait and see

The Avengers Trailer!!

Finally we have been blessed with the long-waited for trailer for the upcoming epic nerdgasm film The Avengers. The trailer actually shows more footage then I thought Joss Whedon would allow knowing his vow to secretcy almost on par with J.J. Abrams. The footage looks really amazing and it gives everyone screen time accept I would like to see more of Hawkeye and Hulk. Also, I'm loving Stark's humor, it's fantastic as always.

Summer 2012 will be blockbuster crazy with The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The  Avengers.

Bearded Superman and Redheaded Lois Lane

Like I mentioned earlier this week, filming is currently taking place in Vancouver for Man of Steel. The next superman film directed by visionary Zack Snyder.

Here is little bit of weird news from the set. Superman/Clark Kent has a big lumberjack beard and Lois Lane is strawberry blonde. I can't believe it either folks.

The ideas on why Clark Kent has a beard and is in an Alaskan fishing village are stirring around on the net. Could Clark be going on a self-finding trip or is he hiding from General Zod (Michael Shannon), or Lois Lane. Who knows? well Zack Snyder and the cast likely do but thats beside the point.

We will have to wait 2 years to find out whats happening!! Man of Steel flies into theaters June 14, 2013

Steve Jobs has Died

Steve Jobs the Co-Founder, former CEO, and chairman of Apple Inc., has passed away at age 56. If you haven't heard of this tech god then you have been living under a rock or a once sheltered tribe in the amazon. He has literally change the tech industry since he created Apple Inc. back in 1976. The products made by Apple have been revolutionary from the Apple II, iPod, iMac, iPhone, and iPad.

Rest In Peace Steve Paul Jobs. You will be dearly missed by all Apple fans. If you would wish to share thoughts, memories, or condelences about Steve Jobs then send an email to rememberingsteve@apple.com

(I tend to think/hope Steve has done "the voldermort" and put parts of him in an iPod classic, Apple II, iPhone 1, and a iMac. )

Horse News: War Horse Trailer and Mr. Ed Movie Planned

Today has been pretty busy with the horse genre. Seems like every studio is horsing around with the idea of doing horse movies again. I'd believe it if they wanted to remake black beauty again.

The full trailer for Steven Spielberg's drama/action film War Horse has made its way online. The movie looks amazing visually and has an enticing premise of following a horse through a war. This is his run for the oscars. Here is the trailer for War Horse which is riding into theaters on December 28.

Second in todays horse news is Fox 2000 is planning on bringing the classic 60's tv show Mr. Ed back to the big screen. Nothing is know about the film at this time other then the horse will be real not CGI. Thank god, but wait it will have that awkward CGI lip movements. They can never get that right, just go back to putting peanut butter on the gums of the horses mouth. Thats humane right?

New Pics from The Avengers

I know i've missed so much of The Avengers coverage over the last couple of months. I am sorry again. So I'll start fresh with some awesome photos that were featured in EW and other sites last week with 2 brand new ones that popped up online.

The first (new) photos feature a epic scene with Captain America (Chris Evans) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) looking up at what I assume to be the enemy. The second new image is of director Joss Whedon talking to Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) with a guy posing like fonzie in the background.

The Avengers assemble in theaters on May 4, 2012

Other photos are awesome and are worth looking at after the jump

I'm guessing from the success of re-release of The Lion King in 3D last month, Disney and Pixar had a thought "hey we could totally take more money from families by re-releasing our other amazing classics in 3D."

2012
Beauty and the Beast (January 13),
Finding Nemo (September 14)
2013
Monsters Inc. (January 18)
The Little Mermaid (September 13).
