Opening Sequence for John Carpenter's The Ward

Some italian horror site Splatter Container has released the opening sequence for the upcoming John Carpenter's The Ward. It's kind of sad that we here in U.S. will get to see the movie in bits n pieces before it gets released. Many scenes have shown up online in their entirely.

John Carpenter's The Ward will be released sometime in future.

American Reunion Plot Details

Just last week we heard the news that American Pie originals Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy and Sean William Scott are coming back for a sequel to the series. Not the heartless spin-offs. The other orignal cast members in-negotiations to comeback are Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge. Maybe more will come back at later dates.

Some Australian site What's Playing got the scoop on some pretty big plot details for American Reunion.

The plot for the fourth film will for sure be like the first film with heart and of course main characters other than Sherman and Eugene Levy.

"Spoiler Alert" Don't look at the details if you want to find out from a trailer way down the road from now.

First Look at Wonder Woman's Costume

NBC and Warner Bros. Television released the first look at Adrianne Palicki in full Wonder Woman costume. The costume seems pretty decent and looks very uncomfortable. The costume takes homage to the newer costume in the comics and covers more skin than the 70's version. That's pretty ironic considering what was allowed on tv back than. Also, I'm not really a fan of Palicki, but I hope she can pull it off as Wonder Woman.

The Wonder Woman pilot episode will air on NBC later this fall

Darren Afronofsky Exits The Wolverine

Director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, The Wrestler) has announced today that he will have to exit as director of The Wolverine. This comes as a bit of a shock for me because it must be really hard for him to just leave. He has had so much input of the film.

Here is the official press release:

Afronofsky:  "As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of ‘The Wolverine’ would keep me out of the country for almost a year.  I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time.  I am sad that I won't be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again."

Twieneth Century Fox stated: "While we are of course disappointed that Darren can’t do ‘The Wolverine’, we also understand and respect his reasons.  Having done both ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Black Swan’ with Darren, we know he is an extraordinary talent and we look forward to working with him on other projects in the future. Hugh Jackman and Fox both remain fully committed to making ‘The Wolverine’.  We will regroup and move forward aggressively."

So hopefully they can find a perfect replacement, but I was really looking forward to see his vision.

Disney Sinks Robert Zemeckis' Yellow Submarine

After the disastrous opening of Disney's newest 3D motion capture film Mars Needs Moms with $6.9 million. Pretty bad for having a $150 million budget. I blame marketing, but Disney is losing faith with motion capture and have cancelled Robert Zemeckis' adaptation of the Beatles The Yellow Submarine.

The news isn't really a shocker considering the film has had some holes rusted into it for sometime now. They had budget problems, presentations pushed back and never got to, and a release date cancelled and never set again. So, having the Zemeckis produced Mars Needs Moms failing at the box office just pushed Disney to say they have had enough with the sinking of the sub and let it rest at the bottom of the sea.

News has come that Zemeckis has retreated to Montana to "regroup". Rumors are he will try to sell the project to other studios or (hopefully) go back to directing live-action films again. Zemeckis has way to much potential to be wasted on the "creepy" motion capture tech. We will just have to wait and see.

Super 8 Poster and Trailer

This weekend has proven really worthy of Alien movies with Battle: LA taking first place in box office and finally getting a full trailer for the mystery alien flick Super 8. Also, we get a very "off beat" poster that is actually really cool.

The trailer finally gives great insight to the movie and features a beautiful score that really feels like it's from the 70's. J.J. Abrams is a truly visionary director and could be the Spielberg of the 21st Century.

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Here is the massive poster and full trailer

Tron: The Next Day Short Film

A really cool short film called Tron: The Next Day has found it's way online. The short film acts as a teaser for TRON 3 and a long one at that. The Next Day is actually set the day before the beginning of Tron: Legacy. It heavily features the Flynn Lives campaign and even shows some footage filmed at Comic-Con last year.

A second hidden "easter egg" trailer is set to be on the Blu-ray of Tron: Legacy (April 5) that will feature Olivia Wilde as Quorra and Cillian Murphy as Ed Dillinger Jr.

A Tron sequel has NOT been officially announced, but it is rumored to be soon. So lets hope to get a sequel soon.

First Look at Nickelodeon's TMNT

The Wall Street Journal has an interesting article on the new updated version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT).

The new series will be a cg rendition and will make the four brothers have personality and individual attributes. The previous series' have always had the brothers looking to similar and the personalty was there though. I think from the image they look pretty similar still.

TMNT will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2012.

I've blown up the image as big as I could before it was too distorted. I will try to get hi-res version online shortly.

EW has a short look at the series, but they are being stubborn and won't let me embedded the video the site. So, here is a link to the first look. I'm not sure I like the simple cg animation, yet.

Also, the live-action reboot will be released sometime in 2013. I figured I would let you fans know that little fact.

Unreal Engine 3 Samaritan Tech Demo

Epic Games unveiled the real-time demo of their Unreal Engine 3 at the 2011 Game Developers Conference and it's spectacular. The demo is called The Samaritan and features a guy that fights crooked cops and turns to a cool rocky character. I'm guessing thats what the plot is at least. They say it's not a game, but it would be an awesome game to play.

The updated engine "adds tesselation and displacement, geometry shaders, multisampled textures, shader model 5 support, and high-end features like subsurface light scattering, Bokeh depth-of-field effects, and significant improvements to reflections and shadows." That is programmer talk for #$cking awesome looking games in the future.

I can't wait to play games that look this awesome. I doubt current gaming consoles can push this engine to it's highest settings, even PC's. PS3 will be the best bet for current consoles, but Microsoft currently announced they have hired people to work on the next generation of Xbox. So, here is to the future.

Here is the tech demo and make sure to put it in higher quality to see it in full effect.

New X-Men: First Class Posters

Some new poster have been released for X-Men: First Class and they show the same thing previous ones have, but they're not the best. They sell the concept of the movie being a prequel origins story, but its just a bad photoshopped head on a weird shadow figure of themselves.

X-Men: First Class will hit theaters on June 3rd

Paramount Pictures released an official hi-res image of Hugo Weaving as Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avenger. Conan The Barbarian Poster

Lionsgate released a pretty cool motion poster for Conan The Barbarian. IGN said that the poster is “a nod to the classic Conan imagery of the late artist Frank Frazetta. Indeed, the poster is an intentional effort to bring Frazetta’s vision of the character to life, just as the new film is a reincarnation and reinvention of the world’s most famous barbarian for modern audiences.”

Conan is played by Jason Momoa and also stars Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan and young actor Leo Howard as young Conan. I met Leo and he is a pretty cool little dude.

Conan The Barbarian will be released in 3D on August 19.

The still version of poster

The awesome motion poster is after the jump because it takes up a lot of memory.
