Robert Zemeckis Directing Timeless

I have hoped for a moment for years and the moment is the time when I hear that the Amazing director Robert Zemckis will return to making live-action films.  It seems my prayers have been answered.

Deadline is reporting that Director Robert Zemeckis is attached to direct a sci-fi film called Timeless.

Details on the project are nowhere in site, but it's said to be a time travel film idea pitched from Warner Bros. and Zemeckis is confirmed as director.

Timeless will mark the directors first time doing a live-action film since Cast Away back in 2000. Zemeckis has been very interested in his little hobby of doing performance capture animated films since then with films including:  The Polar Express (2004), Beowulf (2007), A Christmas Carol (2009) and the upcoming  The Yellow Submarine (2012)

The news just seems so right because it has the person who created and directed the time-travel film series Back To The Future way back in 1985. You just can't find a better director for this project.

Timeless has no release date for now but I can't wait for it.

Michael Caine Gives Possible Batman Shooting Date

Sir Michael Caine on the Chris Moyles Show
Michael Caine had an interview on BBC Radio 1 "The Chris Moyles Show" earlier today for some publicity on his autobiography "The Elephant to Hollywood" and the converstion eventually drifted to the highly anticipated Batman sequel.

Caine said the third Batman film will "probably start in May next year...".

He continued to say that Christopher Nolan and his brother Jonah have told nobody who the viallian is going to be. I have a strong feeling that it will be The Riddler.

Also, if you were wondering if Chris is returning to direct the third film, I have some great news for you. Christopher Nolan said today to Empire, he is returning to direct the third film for sure.

More news to come within the next two years

Untitled Batman film is scheduled for a July 20, 2012 release date

Lucasfilm Releasing Star Wars Saga in 3D

Lucasfilm finally officially announced that the Star Wars Saga will get a conversion and released in 3D. I have been hearing rumors of this for literary years and it's nice to have that myth confirmed.

Screenshot of StarWars.com main page

The statement posted on StarWars.com said "There are few movies that lend themselves more perfectly to 3D; from the Death Star trench run to the Tatooine Podrace, the Star Wars Saga has always delivered an entertainment experience that is completely immersive.

Presented by Twentieth Century Fox and Lucasfilm Ltd., the cutting edge conversion will take that immersion to the next thrilling level, with Industrial Light & Magic supervising the project.

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace is expected to be released theatrically in 2012. A release date has not yet been determined.

Getting good results on a stereo conversion is a matter of taking the time and getting it right, said John Knoll, Visual Effects Supervisor for Industrial Light & Magic. It takes a critical and artistic eye along with an incredible attention to detail to be successful.

It is not something that you can rush if you want to expect good results. For Star Wars we will take our time, applying everything we know both aesthetically and technically to bring audiences a fantastic new Star Wars experience."

So there you have it. Episode 1 will get released sometime in 2012 and with no news on if they will release one film a year or something like two every six months. George Lucas said that they are not sure on how or when they will get released.

First Scream 4 Screenshot

Entertainment Weekly got their hands on the first official screenshot from the upcoming horror film Scream 4.

The screenshot has Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox Arquette) walking through a barn with the ghostface killer behind her. The lighting is just amazing with the yellow colors really adding to the mood. It's cool that they will have a scene in a barn just like some classic horror movies including Friday The 13th and Halloween 5.

Some questions may pop into your head like Why does Gale have a ghostface mask? Does that mean there is multiple killers or is she a killer herself? Who Knows.

ET also says that the film takes place 10 years after the events in Scream 3. So, could Gale and Dewey be married like in real life. There is just so many questions.

No news when the trailer will be released, but production has ended last week with a tweet by director Wes Craven saying thats a wrap on Scream 4.

Scream 4 stabs into theaters on April 15, 2011

Gore Verbinski Taking On The Lone Ranger?

Deadline is reporting that director Gore Verbinksi is thinking about making Disney's The Lone Ranger his next project.

The Lone Ranger comic-book cover

If this news is true then The Lone Ranger would mark the 5th time that Verbinski has worked with Johnny Depp. That is so close to stealing Depp away from Tim Burton that there could be a Depp war between the two men.

The Lone Ranger was announced a few years ago by mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer and then came the news that Johnny Depp has been cast as The Lone Rangers sidekick Tonto. Although we have the sidekick there is no clue on who would portray The Lone Ranger himself. Rumors have been leaning towards George Clooney.

So is it good news that Gore Verbinski might take on The Lone Ranger with Depp as a Native American sidekick?

The Coen Brothers' True Grit Trailer

Paramount Pictures released the trailer for the Coen Brothers' remake/adaptation True Grit. The cast is quite nice with Jeff bridges, Josh Brolin, Matt Damon, Barry Pepper and newcomer Hailee Steinfled.

The film is based on the 1968 novel that ended up being a John Wayne movie in 1969. In this version Jeff Bridges will take on Wayne's role of U.S. Marshal Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn and the part seems cast perfectly. Also, it's nice to see Josh Brolin do another Coen Brothers' film after No Country for Old Men.

Mattie Ross, a 14-year-old girl, undertakes a quest to avenge her father's death at the hands of a drifter named Tom Chaney. Ross persuades an alcoholic marshal named Rooster Cogburn to join her in tracking down Chaney.

True Grit hits theaters on Christmas day December 25, 2010.

Black Widow Solo film Happening

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has finally confirmed that they are currently in discussions to have a solo film based on their heroine Black Widow. The Russian spy character was portrayed by the beautiful Scarlett Johansson in Iron Man 2 and will be featured in the mega-film The Avengers in 2012.

Feige stated "We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts, but 'The Avengers' comes first."

So look forward to see a Black Widow solo film sometime after 2012.

Chris Nolan says Inception Game Is Planned

Christopher Nolan has confirmed that they will be making a Inception video-game in the near future.

Nolan announced the news during a press conference in Rome to promote the delayed release of Inception in Italy.

He told Variety "One thing we are looking at doing is developing a video game based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can't fit into a feature film"

If your like me and really can't wait to play this game then you will be glad and sad to know that Nolan said "That's something we've been talking about and are looking at doing long-term, in a couple of years." That just seems so far away, but you want it to be good and not suck.

Trailer of the Week - The Fighter

I have been following The Fighter for a long time and Mark Wahlberg went through some rough times to get this movie in production. Wahlberg trained for two years to play the role of Micky Ward and had trouble getting financial backing for the film. Actors Brad Pitt and Matt Damon were , at one time, attached to play Micky's brother Dickie, but the role went to Christian Bale. Bale ended up loosing a lot of weight as you can tell in the trailer.

Boston fighter "Irish" Mickey Ward and how he was helped to the world lightweight championship by half-brother Dicky Eklund. Eklund once decked Sugar Ray Leonard and went the distance against the boxing legend before forfeiting his career to drugs and crime. He redeemed himself by training Ward through his Rocky-like run to the title.

The Fighter Hits theaters on December 10, 2010.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe Concept Art

Last week JoBlo.com got their hands on some cool concept art for the upcoming live-action film Voltron.

I can't wait to see a giant robot movie not to involve Michael Bay. Writers Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer are currently working on the script. They wrote the script for the upcoming film Conan also.

To be honest, I think they look a little like Transformers fighting the monster from Cloverfield.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe is set for a 2013 release

Here is concept art provided by JoBlo.com

Update: New piece of concept art has made its way online.

Trailer of the Week - Hereafter

This is an interesting movie because it's nice to see Clint Eastwood take an intrest in the supernatural genre.  Once again director Clint Eastwood has chosen acclaimed actor Matt Damon to play the main character in his newest film Hereafter.

Matt Damon stars as George, a blue–collar American who has a special connection to the afterlife. On the other side of the world, Marie (Cécile de France), a French journalist, has a near–death experience that shakes her reality. And when Marcus (Frankie/George McLaren), a London schoolboy, loses the person closest to him, he desperately needs answers. Each on a path in search of the truth, their lives will intersect, forever changed by what they believe might—or must—exist in the hereafter.

Hereafter hits theaters on October 22, 2010

First Look at January Jones As Emma Frost

INF Daily released some shots of January Jones as Emma Frost on the set of X-Men: First Class in Buckinghamshire, England.

She was seen walking around the set between filming, just taking photos of cast and the set. She has the "white Queen" theme going on and It's pretty hot. I love the huge russian hat. Anyway, she eventually put on a super long coat and walked talked to her body-double. You have to love two January Jones's more.

X-Men: First Class hits theaters on July June 3, 2011.

The shots are a little blurry, but you get the idea.

Captain America Costume Spy Shots Online

Source: The Daily Mail

The Daily Mail released the first images of Captain America's costume online from The First Avenger: Captain America.

The shots were taken while they were filming a chase of Captain America by agents of H.Y.D.R.A on the english countryside.

The costume isn't worn by Chris Evans, who is captain america, but by a stuntman who is funny looking to me. The costume looks pretty cool I guess, but it does seems a little "fake".

I will say the other vehicles are pretty weird too. The motorcycles are really weird along with the cool looking car. All these will be after the jump.
