Scream 4 Teaser Poster

I have waited 10 years to get a sequel to Scream 3. The series is great in every aspect from actors, director and even the writer. I am super hyped about this movie and it hasn't even begun shooting yet. That just shows you how big of a fan I am.

legendary director Wes Craven announced that shooting will begin this June in Michigan with returning series regulars David and Courtney Cox Arquette and Neve Campbell. Also, Craven announced he is signed on for part 5 and 6.

Here is very earlier teaser poster. I mean very early because it hasn't even began production.

Halo Xbox Case Mod

I sometimes wish I could do this to my Xbox 360, but why not have Master Chief do it for me. Just look at the damage he caused in this case mod that you could own. Yes, I said you could own (If you win the auction)

This sweet case mod was made by Weta's own Richard Taylor to celebrate the millionth Xbox sold in New Zealand and Australia.

The case mod is currently on auction on ebay for about AU $840.00 and I have no idea what that is in US currency. Also, proceeds go to David Peachey Foundation, an Australian charity that works towards bettering kids' lives through scholarships, sports grants, and other things. So let's get that bid up higher.

Here is link to Xbox Mod Case Auction. Just think of the benefits of looking at it when you when it gets RROD. Just Kidding, but seriously.

Kick-Ass Review

Kick-Ass is the best comic-book movie since The Dark Knight. The movie is great from every aspect of gore, profanity and humor and is just..well Kick Ass!

I waited for this film to get released since Comic-Con 2009. I just watched the clips they had shown there and was instantly interested in this offbeat superhero movie. Kick-Ass was just something I never saw in any comic-book movie; mixing so much humor and wrongness, that makes it seem right.

I realized that this movie was awesome from just the first 5 minutes with the voiceover by the main character. That just set the mood for what you were about to see.

The characters have to be the absolute best part of the movie with Kick-Ass, Big Daddy, Red Mist and the best of all Hit-Girl. The main character Kick-Ass is lovable and just a normal teen trying to make a difference. Every normal teenager can relate to dave (Kick-Ass) as high-school student just being there and unknown. Red Mist is also they same way as Kick-Ass in the sense of being an unknown kid, but he is the son of a rich and powerful villain.

Then, there is Big Daddy and Hit-Girl. The duo is just a nightmare for every criminal and grandparent taking their grandkids to go see a cute comic-book movie. They are as real as anybody will get to become a hardcore vigilante. They have the training and the fire power to basically kill the entire mafia. Well, if the mafia even existed...cough...cough..they do....cough. Big Daddy is the perfect character for Nic Cage with the personality to loving and being able to blow a guys head off a second later. I love the tongue-in-cheek reference to being similar to Batman, but being able to actually kill people without a problem. The best character and most controversial reason for this movie to get blasted by soccer moms everywhere. She has the mouth of a sailor and she is only, like 11 years old! She is sweet and adorable without the costume and every mothers dream-child. When, she puts on the costume she just turns bold and a killing machine without any remorse. She was the most intriguing character in film within the last 20 years.

The thing that made this movie work with its eccentric story and characters is the sense of realism within the world it is set in. The cinematography and direction really showed the bright colors and clearness in the really awesome universe of Kick-Ass and is very close to being almost like our world is now. Matthew Vaughn should get some awards for this movie in the near future. I really loved the realism and hope other filmmakers take note of the great tool.

The only downside is the cliches kinda get out of hand with some coming strait from Spider-Man. For example, the house where Dave lives is basically the same house as spider-man; I even said to my friend next to me "just watch because Mary Jane will be taking her trash out at the same time as he is getting home. Also, the training on the roof and drawing in his notebook at school. It just bugged me a little bit.

I would recommend this film to all high-school kids willing to see some brutality mostly caused by a little girl to see a great all around film. I will say that if you are older than 45 and don't like violence, then just pass this by and go take your grandchildren or your own kids to see How To Train Your Dragon.

Kick-Ass is simply Kick-Ass

Trailer of the Week -Paper Man

Trailer of the Week will go to a really good looking independent comedy/drama called Paper man. The film stars Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber), Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern), Emma Stone (Zombieland) and Lisa Kudrow (Friends).

An unlikely friendship between Richard (Daniels), a failed middle-aged novelist who has never quite grown up and Abby (Stone), a 17-year-old girl whose role in a family tragedy years earlier has stolen away her youth. Both are unsure, both are afraid to take firm steps forward, and both rely on the imaginary friends in their heads to help guide them into the future - for Richard, it is the costumed superhero Captain Excellent (Reynolds), and for Abby, it's morose fellow teenager Christopher (Culkin).

Joss Whedon to Direct The Avengers?

Deadline New York is reporting that Marvel Studios is in final negotiations with Joss Whedon to direct the highly-anticipated film The Avengers. The film is set for a May 4, 2012 release.

It will feature an ensemble cast of stars from the marvel films released up until then. The stars include Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemmsworth (Thor) and more to be announced.

Joss Whedon's credits include Buffy The Vampire Series, Firefly, Serenity, Angel, Dollhouse, and the anticipated The Cabin In The Woods. So, this could be good or bad.

I personally think it's a good choice because i know he is a fan of the series and will bring good ideas to the board. Although, I also believe the producers should keep an eye open for other great directors.

Movie Reviews

It has been along time since I have reviewed any movies. So, I will do a quick and to the point review on movies released in past month or two.

She's Out of My League

I Laughed in the theater from beginning until the end. The actors were cast perfectly for their role. The comedy aspect works great with the romantic side to become almost sweet. Also, the soundtrack is very good. I give it a B+

Repo Men

This movie is directed great, but suffers from the cliches in the script. The movie is not really a Sci-fi/thriller but a comedy because the film almost seems like a satire of sci-fi films such as Blade Runner. Jude Law and Forest Whitaker are great together. Whitaker is great at being borderline crazy. The film scares me as likely to come true in 20 years. I give it a B.

The Bounty Hunter

There is so much bad to say about this movie. They showed the funny parts in trailer and the only good thing in this movie was the soundtrack and that didn't really stun be as great. The action is okay and the story just seems simple the best part would be the ending and that still wasn't enough closure for me. The main actors had some chemistry, but thats about it. I give this movie a C-.

The Crazies

This is probably the second best remake of a George A. Romero film, just behind Dawn of the Dead (2004). The film is a great improvement on Romero's film with better production value and script direction. The main actors are great together and you really want them to make it out alive. I usually don't like remakes or reboots, but if films like this come out then I might just change my ways. I give it a B-.

I will actually do a full review on films that have come out in last few weeks between now and next week, so just hold your horses.

Daily Movie News

Saturday, April 3, 2010

  • Marvel Studios confirmed that Chris Evans is indeed playing Steve Rodgers/Captain America in the highly anticipated The First Avenger: Captain America. Also, It is reported that Sebastian Stan (Gossip Girl) has been cast as Captain America's side-kick Bucky. I like Caps casting, but do they really need Bucky at all. The film hits theaters on July 22, 2011.

  • XXX: The Return of Xander Cage is finally getting made and it's in 3D. Rob Cohen has got signed back on to direct after leaving to direct the then and now stalled Medieval. Cohen has returned because of the many things to do with 3D. The film should be released in late 2011 or early 2012.

  • Directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar 1 and 2) will be directing American Pie 4. No cast have resigned yet, but the film will bring back original cast. Also, this means they won't be directing A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas. This is good and bad depends on how you look at it.

  • Director/creator Joss Whedon (Buffy: The Vampire Slayer) is rumored to be on the "short list" to direct Marvel's The Avengers. The only other director on the list is Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk) and has a release date of May 4, 2012.

  • The beloved classic 1938 book Mr. Popper's Penguins may get a big screen adaptation with Ben Stiller and director Noah Baumbach in-talks to star and direct receptively.

  • Look Who's Talking is getting remade. I can't agree if it should be remade or not, but I love the original. No Director or writers have been hired yet.

  • Also, in talking baby news, the taking E*Trade baby is getting his own movie. I feel Hollywood is going downhill. The film is being written by Katie Dippold (MadTv).
