Top 10 Worst Films of 2011

The end of the year is here and the Top 10 List must come out. Today's lucky list is… Worst films of 2011. This year is just full of blockbuster let downs and movies we knew where going to be terrible from the first trailer. Here is the infamous list you don't want to be seen on but want to see (not films on them though)

10. Transformers: Dark of  Moon

TF3 was actually not as bad as TF2 but it still makes the top 10 list. The acting in this movie was not good at all with Shia losing faith in the series (like us all) and bringing in a new love interest (below). Also, they brought in way too much comic-relief for their on good. The only thing this film had going for it was the FX and, while amazing, it lasted way too effin long. 3D was pretty good though. That isn't saying much either.

9. Cowboys & Aliens

Cowboys & Aliens shouldn't go together like eggs and ketchup shouldn't but to some people they do. Those people are the reason this movie was made. The idea was out there and sounded great if they could make them work. In Some ways it did by going serious route with this movie. If it was comedy, I wouldn't like even give this movie a fighting chance. The acting was just superb with the material they had but the story was just lacking in most places. The poor main guy lost both his hookers to the aliens. Damn. I had high hopes for this movie but it was a let down mostly.

8. Season of the Witch

The only reason this movie isn't number one on the list is because Nic Cage's long hair wig made me laugh enough for to become amusing to me. Nothing else to say really, just bad movie all around. Sorry Nic.

7. The Green Hornet

This movie just didn't have me at first then after a few trailers it interested me. After seeing it, it lost me for good. I thought it had a bad actor playing the main part, but great actors in supporting roles that may have even stolen the movie. The directing was really good and did it's part of making it good. The story then made it lose just everything it had going for it along with the acting.

6. Just Go With It

Adam Sandler is an actor who has people that adore him and people who hate everything he makes with passion. I am a fan for the most part. Mostly earlier roles. This movie just had nothing real to gain from the over-the-top theme and way it played out. This could have been prevented with 2 simple lies or telling the truth from the start. The only great thing about it was Nick Swardson and Jennifer Aniston. The plot is pretty simple and easily figured out by a 4 year old.

5. Battle: Los Angeles

Battle: LA is another movie on the list that had aliens involved with something unrelated to sic-fi. It had a better idea to go all Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down with aliens thrown in. It had amazing special effects and scenes. So why did this movie fail? The script and some acting. Just not having those will make any movie go down the drain. The dialogue was so bad it made me fall asleep almost. I think the writers watched every war film and stole every cliche it had or phrase with mediocre actors saying them this time.

4. Dream House

Dream House is likely the only film on the list to blasted by director and actors in it. The production company changed so much of the film that director Jim Sheridan wanted his named removed from it. That just says it all right there. The plot and acting had promise but was ruined not at their own accord, but producers. They cut the trailer to reveal the big plot twist and just from that gave up any chance it had of being scary because you knew it already. Daniel Craig did just fine with what he had to work with, even he has decided to not help the film and will not associate with it. Due to poor editing and choppy story this film fails.

3. Green lantern

Ryan Reynolds is my main reason for this placement. I love the guy, just not for this role. Hal Jordan is supposed to be a more serious grown-up man with sense. The film just lost it with a bad origin story that was lackluster in every way. I wanted to see the CGI suit work but it didn't. I wanted to see Ryan pull it off, he didn't. I wanted the action to be amazing and I'll just ask "what action?". I only hope DC gets their stuff together for future films and go serious not kiddie on it. Take some lessons from Marvel.

2. Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son

They had no reason in the world to make this movie or the second one for that. Big Mommas House was a great funny action film. They just had to ruin it with a third film that had a horrible tv comedy story. The producers knew it was going to be bad and just a cash cow. I think the actors knew too, but they tried to have the most fun they could with it. The role is over used too much and actors are trying to work but can't with bad production value and trying to glee it up with songs. It is hard to get through the whole movie with this stuff thrown together.

1. Sucker Punch

Oh the high hopes I had for this film. They were so high and I was letdown in the worst of ways. I love Zack Snyders work and just adored the thought of him making n original film. Boy was I wrong on every level. This film is atrocious from beginning to end. The story is so childish and I think he took everything a 12 yr old boy looks up on google and gave it to a 12 yr old to write. Cheap labor. The story plays out like a bad video game with clues and levels with bosses. After the second boss battle it becomes just ridicules and boring. The next best part was when the credits started rolling and I walked out. Although, the FX were amazing but that is it. Nothing else was good at all. Biggest letdown of 2011.

Dis-honarble mentions: I Am Number Four, Scream 4, Mr. Poppers Penguins, Beastly, and Dylan Dog.

Movies I suspect are horrible but haven't seen: The Smurfs, Alvin and Chipmunks 3, Monte Carlo, and Jack and Jill.

Amazing Spider-Man Toy Confirms Spoiler Rumors

It's been awhile since I've been on here (Christmas stuff), but I'm back with some interesting news about the anticipated The Amazing Spider-Man film. This innocent (awesome) looking toy gives away some major spoilers to the climax of the film. Normally I wouldn't say a toy would get the plot of the film right, but about a year ago some news broke that climax would have Dr. Conners "the Lizard" transform a SWAT team into lizard minions. Crazy I know, but the mega bloks prove it. I am still going to be a good boyfriend and take my Spider-Man loving girlfriend to see this movie (even though I really want to see it too. shh)

Here is the toy in question and The Amazing Spider-Man will be released on July 3.

The Dark Knight Rises Trailer!!!! Finally!!

The Dark Knight Rises trailer is finally online! I have been waiting months to see this full trailer and finally got to see it last friday. It does not really show to much of story (good thing) but it does have a kick to it. It gives great looks at Catwoman and Bane all though out it. The trailer doesn't really give off the full magical vibe that The Dark Knight trailer had a few years ago but pretty damn close. I can't wait to see this movie at least 5 times in theaters.

Also, we get a quick glimpse at Miranda Tate a.k.a. Talia al Ghul if the rumors are true. Along with a brief scene of John Blake an odd character that will likely serve a greater role than thought.

The Dark Knight Rises glides into theaters on July 20, 2012

Movie Trailers of Week - December 16th

So this week has been very busy with so a lot of trailers being released across the genres. I didn't have time to post them the days they all came out and I am just going to do them all in one big post. Here are the trailers for your enjoyment.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance - February 17, 2012

This trailer gives more of the plot and I think it looks better than the first only in cameras used not really plot. I've heard some really harsh words about this movie already with comments like Ghost Rider 2 makes Ghost Rider 1 look like The Dark Knight. I have really taken a blow to my hopes on the success of making a good movie with Ghost Rider.

Rock of Ages - June 1, 2012

Another musical is bound to happen a few times a year and most pan out pretty good. This one looks really great actually. Tom Cruise is the perfect person to play a full out rocker and the trailer shows it well. The story looks like not only girls can get into it but guys will have no problem with the amazing soundtrack of classic rock bands.

Jack the Giant Killer - June 15, 2012

This movie has been on a lot of peoples list waiting to see something for it. Director Bryan Singer hasn't had anything filmed by him seen in recent years because he has been working on this - his baby project. All I can say about this movie is I'm a little nervous about it. The plot has been used over and over but this has a new twist that could maybe work or blow up. Just watch trailer and see what you think.

The Dictator - May 11, 2012

Are you ready for the next Borat or Bruno? Well too bad if your not because this movie might just be that. Cohen has always had an eye for making out there movies with out there characters he gets way to into. This movie looks like it will have a few laughs but I'm not that impressed with it honestly. The only really funny part is the last scene in trailer.

Casa de mi Padre - March 16, 2012

I honestly don't know about this movie at all. I have no desire to see Will Ferrel play a role speaking spanish the entire time. I think it will have a market (mainly south..way south) but will not catch on mainstream. Just can't wait to have my wonderful girlfriend translate the movie for me. If not, I'm sure it will make a great soundtrack.

New Trailer and Poster for The Expendables 2

So earlier this week a very brief teaser trailer for The Expendables 2 came online featuring a scene with Bruce Willis telling Stallone he needed him. Then it went into a montage of the huge cast of past their prime action stars including new members Van Damme, Norris, and Hemsworth (not beast Hemsworth but baby brother Hemsworth). I can't wait for some mindless man violence.

Here is the trailer and the poster featuring Stallone inside a building with a (perfect) giant 2 blown into it.

The Expendables 2 blast into theaters on August 17, 2012

Men In Black 3 Trailer!!

Men In Black 3 (MiB 3) is one of those movies you don't really need to have, but they wouldn't be the worst thing to make. MiB has been through some hell in the last year with huge problems with the script not being complete and having to take a long break just for that. So, naturally you would think the film will be not too good. I have hope for this movie still with a pretty good trailer.

Here is the trailer for Men In Black 3 invading theaters on May 25, 2012

First G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer

The first trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation has made its way online. The trailer features a pretty much brand new cast and crew (except Channing Tatum as Duke and Ray Park as Snake Eyes) and it looks way better than the first one (which is why I think almost the whole crew didn't come back).

The new crew includes director John Chu (Step Up 3D, Never Say Never) and actors Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Roadblock, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, Elodie Yung as Jinx, DJ Cotrona as Flint, RZA as The Blind Master, Joseph Mazzello as Mouse and Ray Stevenson as Firefly. Oh and pretty cool appearance by the legendary Bruce Willis.

So here is too the new crew of awesome actors in what looks like a movie that will join "be better than the original" club

G.I. Joe: Retaliation shoots into theaters on June 29, 2012

New The Dark Knight Rises Poster

This is quite literally the most badass Batman poster to come out since way back when The Dark Knight days with The Joker teasers. I had a nerdgasm when I saw this one earlier. An epic nerdgasm mixed with a mangasm.

It reveals somethings that are pretty crazy if correct. For instance, it says "The legend ends" WTF does that mean? Batman will die? or better yet have back broken? or even the broken mask, what did Bane do to him and does he know the identity of him since the mask is broken? I'm full of questions.

Here is the epic teaser poster that I will for sure buy and put on my Batman wall. Yes..I have a Batman wall for the questions in your head right now. It's epic to say the least.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and don't forget to check out the 8 min prologue to it hitting IMAX with M:I 4 later this week. (If you super lucky)

Grown Ups Sequel In Works

Last years summer hit Grown Ups starring Adam Sandler and most of SNL cast of 95 (Spade, Rock, Schnieder) and new group member Kevin James will be getting a sequel if things go right. When I say right I really mean wrong for viewers. Just kidding…seriously though.

Sandler has never done a sequel before, so this will likely be his first pending his return. The sequel is only in-talks between Sony Pictures and Sandler's Happy Madison with writer Fred Wolf. Wolf wrote first one and groups other films including Joe Dirt, Dickie Roberts, and the really horrible Strange Wilderness.

Let's just be glad they decided to make a sequel to this film and not another Sandler movie. I mean any of them.

Bay to Return for Transformers 4

According to Vulture, Michael Bay is going to direct Transformers 4 (shocker). Even though Bay has said time after time he will not direct another TF movie. He always comes back for the right price. What a sellout if I don't say so myself.

The news is that Paramount is in final talks to get Bay back for TF 4 to shoot around winter 2012. Bay has finally taken time away from mindless robot violence to direct a dream project of his called Pain and Gain. That film will shoot beginning of 2012 on budget around 20 million. That gives Bay time to prepare for shooting TF 4 later.

So, with earlier reports a couple of months ago that Shia will not return and 4 and 5 will be shot back-to-back. Those are still unconfirmed like these current reports.
