1st. 2012 with $23.7 million. This marks the highest opening day box office for a Roland Emmerich film with $23.7 million beating his 2004 film The Day After Tomorrow's $23.5 million.
2nd. A Christmas Carol with $5.6 million
3rd. The Men Who Stare at Goats with $1.95 million
4th. Precious with $1.92 million
5th. The Fourth Kind with $1.8 million
