Random Movie Review: Black Christmas

My special Halloween Movie Review is Black Christmas. I am not talking about the 2006 remake, but the 1974 original. The film is considered by some the inventor of the modern day slasher movie and is given high praise from most of the horror community. It is directed by Bob Clark (A Christmas Story) and stars Margot Kidder (Superman) and Olivia Hussey (Romeo and Juliet). The plot is about a sorority house that is terrorized by a person making frighting phone calls and sorority sisters going missing and murdered over the holiday break. The film from the start is pretty creepy with how the killer got in the house to the first kill. The plastic bag scene is great even by todays standards just look at the poster. The phone calls are kinda funny at first in the sexual nature then frighting later in the movie. The way you see the film through the killers eyes is a staple in horror film history. The point-of-view is later used in Halloween and Friday The 13th. The thing I love most about the film is the eerie score by Carl Zitter. It added so much to the feel of the film as a whole. Some might think it is stupid at would never happen, although it is partly inspired by real events that happened in Montreal, Quebec around Christmas time. The aged of the film might make it somewhat hard for todays teens to watch it without getting a little bored. For diehard horror fans like me it is a must watch. If you like Halloween and Friday The 13th then you will want to watch this low budget slasher film. I give this film a 78 out of 100.

Netflix Coming To Playstation 3. UPDATE!!!!

Sometime next month, all Playstation 3 owners, who are also Netflix users will be able to instantly stream movies and TV shows directly to their PS3 free of charge. After months of speculation that Netflix would be on a console other than the Xbox 360, it finally will be. At first, PS3 users will have to have a free, Netflix-provided, Blu-ray disc that allows you to browse movies and TV shows. We should expect that Sony and Netflix are working together to create a firmware update or application that will take care of the Blu-ray disc problem. The addition of Netflix will eventually allow users to browse and update the "Watch Instantly" queues from the XMB. To get a head start on the PS3 Netflix experience go to http://www.netflix.com/ps3.

UPDATE!!! Netflix reps say an "embedded solution" will be available "late next year," presumably after Microsoft's exclusive arrangement with Netflix expires.

PS3 Smashes Into A Sony Bravia

Sony Australia has a upcoming ad campaign that I think is a little odd. I'm not exactly sure what their messages is supposed to be, but you can judge that for yourself. Check out the video below.
