Daily Movie News

Here is the Daily Movie News for Thursday December 17th, 2009

* Director Brian Singer (X-Men,Valkyrie, Superman Returns) is returning to the X-Men series. He announced at the premier of Avatar that he has signed on as Director of X-Men: First Class. First Class is the next origin story in the X-Men universe. The film will have a look at the early days of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and many others at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. Also, just announced that a new writer Jamie Moss (Street Kings) will write a draft for the film. Josh Schwartz wrote the original draft. So I cant wait for some good X-Men movies.

* Rene Russo (Lethal Weapon 3) has been cast in Kenneth Branagh's Thor. She will be joining the already amazing cast as Odin's wife Frigga, who is Thor's "Stepmom". The list of actors being cast in this film is outstanding. So look for this movie in early 2011.

* An arrest has been made in the Wolverine: Origins leak before the film hit theaters. They are taking bootleggers very serious now, so watch out and don't do it or get caught.

* IESB reported that Spider-Man 4 "has been put on indefinite hold", but this was proven to be false. The production is taking a break for the holidays. This is not that unusual either, alot of films do this during the holidays.

* Golden Globe Winners Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio will present director Martin Scorsese with the Cecil B. DeMille award at "The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards" on Sunday,  January 17th.

* Dreamworks Animation has hired Ethan Reiff (Kung Fu Panda) and Cyrus Voris to Adapt Gil's All Fright Diner by author A. Lee Martinez. The story revolves around a vampire and werewolf. They Battle zombies and try to save the world. after they stop at a diner in the desert that is a conduit for the supernatural. So sounds like this could be awesome with a plot like this one.
