23 Most Anticipated 2013 Movies

We didn't perish when the Mayans calendar ended (who really thought it would seriously…besides me..). 2013 is here! So you know what that means…more awesome movies for the year. 2013 is absolutely loaded with numerous big films and actually I had to make my list jumbo sized just to fit most of ones I think will be worth seeing! The genres range from comedy to sci-fi and everything in-between. Some are sequels, adaptations, and even original. I now give you an ultimate list of films that are most anticipated for this new year.

Star Trek Into Darkness (May 17th)

J.J. Abrams is a sci-fi god. He has recreated the Star Trek magic when he decided to reboot it back in 2009. He has really gone all out on making this sequel by the looks of it. Just having his name attached to this film in every way makes this film stand out above the crowd because he is truly a visionary that has been given one of his favorite franchises to make and form a magic with his geek mind. I seriously can not wait for this film to hit theaters this summer after seeing the teaser trailer. Yes just the teaser trailer that you can check out here

Pacific Rim (July 11th)

This film has taken me by surprise over the last few months. I remember long ago hearing about this film being made by the master of fantasy Guillermo del Toro and I was very interested in it being I used to love the dubbed Godzilla films as a kid. Heard the huge positive feedback from Comic-Con last July and was instantly needing to know more. Well, when that first trailer got released…I was blown away! Just seeing this spectacular special effect unfold with Charlie Hunnam giving a voice over = epicness! This film will take most by surprise in a good way hopefully.

Man of Steel (June 14th)

We haven't seen Superman on the big screen for a few years now (7 to be exact), and we can mostly owe that to how much of a bad taste Superman Returns left in fans mouths. Me not really being one of those because even though we got only about 2 punches and stabbing…oh and a piano to a guys well body, it was still a decent Superman flick. Zack Snyder taking over with Christopher Nolan producing and helping develop it from the beginning, we are bound to have quite possibly the most badass Superman yet. No red underwear anymore means new Superman. High Hopes on this and I have a good feeling about it finding the magic we got with Batman.

Iron Man 3 (May 3rd)

Iron Man is one great character that is a perfect mix of action star, comedian, drama, and most of superhero. Iron Man helped establish Marvel as big guns in the cinemas back in 08, although Iron Man 2 was lets say lackluster in plot and a few other areas. They rushed to fast. Iron Man 3 is something to anticipate so much because we have a new team behind the camera that consist of the guy who wrote Lethal Weapon and directed/wrote Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. I expect great action with great dark comedy that will fit perfectly with Tony Stark. This needs to be the rebirth of the man in iron and I believe it will be by the various things we have seen on it lately.

Oblivion (April 26th)

Oblivion is high on my list because Tom Cruise does two things amazing. Action and Sci-fi. This involves both to the fullest by the looks of it. Having the director of Tron: Legacy make another sic-fi film with Tom Cruise just sounds good to say. Legacy might not be the best film out there but it was beautiful looking and having Oblivion based on a novel. We should get a great looking film with a great plot. Oh and Morgan Freeman is in it! This is a nice refreshment in sci-fi and I can't wait to check this out. Oh did I mention Morgan Freeman is in it!?

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (December 13th)

Peter Jackson made the best possible adaptation of The Lord of The Rings and he still had some left in him to complete the prequel trilogy of The Hobbit. The first film was a fantastic prequel that fits perfectly within the series and at 48fps it was very different and worth seeing and waiting for the next film in the series. Now the year wait begins for us to see more of this Smaug guy.

Kick-Ass 2 (June 28th)

Kick-Ass took me and everyone else by surprise when we saw a superhero that killed with just so much blood…so much and by a 12 yr old girl! We were introduced to Hit-Girl and Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy. It was amazing *mostly because Nic was great in a newer movie*. The plot was just fun and original and having a sequel makes us seriously excited seeing where Dave will go with a new super hero team that has the funny guy from Scrubs and the legendary Jim Carrey!

The list goes on and on and If you haven't seen your top films yet, maybe they are after the jump hmmm…Check after jump! Many other films you should anticipate ranging from actors playing themselves in a apocalypse to getting to see Jonny Depp play cowboys and indians. Check them out!

Elysium (March 1st)

Matt Damon doing a sci-fi film. Enough said. Oh even better than that is, the director is Neil Blomkamp, director of a very amazing sci-fi film District 9, who wrote and directed this original film. I have such high hopes for seeing him do another original idea and with his background in CGI, I expect it to be a beautiful eye candy and great action. He has shown us he knows how to deal with social class disruptions before and now we will see it deep in the future. Keep an eye on this film when it comes out.

R.I.P.D (June 28th)

Very intriguing film. First of all it's a comic book adaptation starring Ryan Reynolds, I know he doesn't have the best comic book film track record, but this film looks to be very promising. I am excited to see the Rest In Peace Department take to the silver screen and have the star talent of Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, and Kevin Bacon. We will have Ryan Reynolds play a dead cop joining the force again to find his killer..very interesting.

The Wolverine (July 26th)

I will start with saying I dislike X-Men Origins:Wolverine very much, so why is The Wolverine so high on my list? Because it sounds just awesome! It is not a sequel to Origins but a sequel to the equally terrible X-Men: The Last Stand. We will see Wolverine head to Japan where some really crazy awesome things have happened to him in the comics and I can't wait to see what made it into the film. New director attached to this will make sure we don't get a repeat. They can't afford another X-blunder because the only life saving they have had in recent years was First Class. This film is very anticipated!

Ender's Game (November 1st)

Many fans of the 1985 sic-fi novel have been wanting (or not wanting) a film adaptation of the beloved book, but once Harrison Ford signed on to play Colonel Graff it became better. Ford belongs in a sci-fi realm and he does a great job of it all around. Director Gavin Hood hasn't had a great start at directing but lets hope he has learned from his mistakes and give us one hell of a good sic-fi film.

Thor: The Dark World (November 8th)

We are entering Phase II of the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year and with Thor being one of the harder ones to get made in that universe it is very important that this film works. Thor was a pretty great film that surprised me by how well it worked with the others. Well Thor 2 has a lot to step up and we need to learn more about Thor and his relationships and character before The Avengers 2 comes around.

The Lone Ranger (July 3rd)

Johnny Depp playing a indian named Tonto and it will be awesome! Oh and the main guy the Lone Ranger will be there to try to steal the show. The Lone Ranger might be a character from the golden age of radio and not many kids will know who he is but having the star power and amazing director Gore Verbinski, they should be in for a treat.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For (October 4th)

Sin City was a masterpiece and had one of the best indie film cast ever. The way it was filmed was like never before and having Robert Rodriguez and Mark Miller come back to helm it has every fan rejoicing! With some of the main characters passing away within the 7 years of the movies, we will be seeing replacements and hopefully something that is better or same level as the first one.

This is The End (June 14th)

The concept of having comedy actors playing themselves in the event of a apocalypse is hilarious just to read. We have the team that brought us Superbad and Pineapple Express behind and in front of the camera to show us what they would do in this crazy time and I can only imagine what hilarious times come from it. Also, Danny McBride in it makes it awesome!

The World's End (October 25th)

Behold the completion film in Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's "The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy". With one hell of a great series coming to an end this year, there was no way this movie wouldn't end up on the list. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have a great on-screen relationship that makes every film they are in together hilarious. So keep an eye open for this film to take Americans by surprise for Halloween.

Evil Dead (April 12th)

Reboots or Remakes never really leave a great taste in film critics mouth or most viewers. Although, having the original creators be involved from handpicking the director and being there to help a long the way is very different and sounds perfect to get one great remake out there. From the looks of the trailers we have been seeing, the film is going to be scary and cringing all the way through it.

White House Down (June 28th)

This could be a great revamped version of Die Hard with an ordinary cop/secret service guy doing the most crazy things because there is no other man willing to do it. Channing Tatum is an actor that really surprised me in 2012 with actually proving he is a good actor and funny guy that can do action. He might not be Bruce Willis but lets give him and disaster film director Roland Emmerich a fighting chance. Can Tatum save President Jaimie Foxx this year? I can't wait to find out!

Riddick (September 6th)

Pitch Black was an awesome indie film that helped us get to know the mysterious side of Vin Diesel and with Chronicles of Riddick leaving so much room open for another look at him, we are finally getting the long waited for Riddick. This film is actually pretty much a miracle on how it is finally being made and having a great cast with Diesel and Karl Urban, we are in for a treat.

A Good Day to Die Hard (February 14th)

I know we have had 4 Die Hard films that have Bruce Willis in extraordinary circumstances and he is well a little older now, but I have to say introducing his sidekick for the film being his son Jack is awesome! Also, John is out of his element now and in Russia and finding out his son is a cool spy guy is even better. The jokes will be very sarcastic and John McClane like, so It should be a fun action ride and maybe a passing of the Die Hard torch to the next generation.

300:Rise of an Empire (August 2nd)

300 was amazing visually and gave us some of the best war quotes and internet memes in the last decade. So having a prequel to that just sounds bittersweet but promising at same time. Zack Snyder might not be back to direct but he has helped with it so it is very exciting to see where this will go.

After Earth (June 7th)

M. Night Shyamalan is one director that is brilliant and horrible at same time. He has given us some of the best twist ending movies of all time, while also giving us just plain boring and cliched movies. He is still on my good side at the moment and having him do a futurist post-earth movie. Also, having the star power of Will Smith and real-life son Jaden be the main stars is very cool. I actually can't wait to see a M. Night film (crazy I know right!?)

Safe Haven (February 8th)

All of Nicholas Sparks movies are on the top of every girls list of films to see and with Safe Haven having a great cast of Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough, we should be a treat. They both know the genre well and I can see this being a big hit among the ladies and a big date movie.

There you have it! The list of 23 most anticipated films of 2013. I know the list is big, but if it doesn't have your most anticipated movie on the list, comment and tell us. So here is to a huge year of movies  and a lot of things will be proven this year.
